A Demon Lord's Tale: Dungeons, Monster Girls, and Heartwarming Bliss

Chapter 566.1

Adventures of Shii (1)

I looked to the right and to the left, but other family members were not there. The busy street was a bit difficult for Shii to see because of her short stature, but there was no sign of them.

They were talking about going into some store, but Shii did not know which store they went into.

Once Shii could no longer sense the presence of her family, Shii decided to go back to the main street and look for everyone.

By nature, Shii was more curious and a bit out of it compared to Illuna and Enne.

Shii was also a little more spoiled than Illuna and Enne. Shii believed that even if she made a mistake, it would be okay because her family would be there for her.

However, even for her, there was a firm line between what should be prioritized and should not.

So, what was priority right now?

Since Shii was created as a monster to defend the dungeon, she was not as stubborn as Enne, but she also had the spirit to carry out her will to protect the things she could not compromise.

And now that Sakuya was with her, Shii had only one priority.

–Protect her brother at all costs. That was all.

Everything else was trivial.

So Shii immediately tried to pull the stroller back – and it was Sakuya who stopped her.

“Aww, Uooh!” (Sakuya)

“…You still want to go this way?” (Shii)

“Uiii, Auuu!” (Sakuya)

Shii was not sure whether what Sakuya was blabbing about was a reply or not, but as if resisting Shii’s attempts to turn back, Sakuya frantically stretched his arms out towards the end of the alleyway.

It was rare for him to show this much of an obsession with something. Even when he was preoccupied with his toys, he had never shown this level of obsession before.

…However, because of their current situation, it was definitely better for them to head back.

But, a little feeling of hesitation had arisen within Shii.

Since Sakuya wanted to go there so much, there might be something there.

Something that must be found now.

Shii knew that Sakuya was a special child. In fact, she probably understood this more than his parents, Yuki and the others.

Riou was a normal child. She was a cute, cute little sister.

Sakuya was also a cute and adorable little brother, but… To be honest, he was not normal.

There was something about this child that Riou didn’t have. Something that even his parents did not have.

Because Sakuya wanted to do this so much, Shii decided to follow what he wanted to do.

“Hmmm, hmmm… Alright, then!” (Shii)

For Shii, who did not think too deeply, Shii pondered for a little longer… Then she stopped thinking about it.

Her conclusion: Other family members, especially Yuki and Lefi, would surely find them.

And so, Shii left it to the adults to find them.

Shii decided to help Sakuya look for what he wanted.

They were on a special trip. So it was okay for them to be a little adventurous, Shii thought.

“Okay, it’s an adventure, right, an adventure! Shiii-chan will protect you, so let’s go where Sakuya wants to go!” (Shii)

“Au!” (Sakuya)

Shii smiled at Sakuya and pushed the stroller to the end of the alleyway.

◇◇◇

After leaving the hotel, I quickly made my way down to my family… When I met up with them, they were in a terrible panic.

“–Shii and Sakuya disappeared?” (Yuki)

“Ye, yes! When we entered a store, they didn’t come in after us, and when we went out to look for them, they were gone…!” (Nell)

“I’m so sorry, I should have been the first to notice! How could I be so stupid as to leave my children in such a mess…!” (Lefi)

Nell and Lefi looked impatient.

Perhaps the adults’ impatience got through to Riou, who started to cry out loud, while Lyuu, Layla, and the Wraith Girls were soothing her.

They were planning to go to a souvenir shop and the two had been with them until just before they headed to the shop.

However, when everyone’s attention was focused on the store, and they looked away for a moment, the two children had already disappeared.

…This area was a main street in the capital. Naturally, there were many people and horse-drawn carriages passing by.

It was not like they had cell phones to contact each other. Even for adults, it would be difficult to meet up with someone if they got lost.

That’s why it was fortunate that it was Shii who got lost.
