'How? '

This was the only question raging through William's mind as he witnessed the return of the malevolent entity he had just killed.

He had literally decapitated him, so how was he still alive?

The worst part was that he was as good as new, almost like he had never fought him or been almost killed.

And that disgusting smile on his face—he wanted to wipe it off his face, but he couldn't; it was simply impossible for him to even move, let alone beat or kill a demon.

He had taken a gamble with his life on the line, and now that he had failed, there was only one outcome left for him.

But even if he died, he had no intention of begging for his life in front of a demon.

"So how does it feel to know that everything you have done was for naught and completely pointless?"

"In the end, your life served zero purpose, and now you're about to die a pathetic death, quite fitting for someone as weak and pathetic as you." Kaust snickered as he said the last part, hoping to provoke him.

His words enraged William, and he wanted nothing more than to just get up and shut his mouth, but he couldn't do that, no matter how hard he tried.

So in the end, he resorted to just staring at Kaust with a blank look to not let him get any satisfaction.

"Boo, boring" Kaust clicked his tongue upon being denied the reaction he wanted to see, but he had another idea, one that would be sure to get a good reaction.

"I feel almost bad for you, so I'll give you one last chance to avoid dying today; all you need to do is sign the contract." Kaust offered as he summoned a purple piece of paper and sent it towards him.

Seeing the sheet of paper in front of him, William retorted with zero hesitation.

"Rather than being enslaved by an infernalcunt like you, I'm better off being dead," William finally chuckled for the first time ever since Kaust had returned.

And the reason for this was simple: he knew that he touched a nerve. After all, while Zephyr refused to talk about demons or other things with him, he did tell him about a slur, which was the easiest way to piss a demon off.

He didn't bother to use it before because he didn't want to get killed, but now he no longer cared about any of that and only wanted to wipe that disgusting smile off his face, which he succeeded in doing.

"YOU BASTARD, HOW DARE YOU?" Kaust screamed in anger before disappearing from his place, appearing right in front of William, and kicking him in the face.

The kick dislocated his jaw, broke his teeth, and sent him flying, only stopping when he had hit a giant pile of rubble.

BOOOMMM!!!!

Dust flew in the air, and the rubble scattered as the almost dead body of William lay on the ground. It was truly a miracle that he was still alive, but it doesn't matter as in just a few seconds he was going to die, either from all the injuries he had sustained or from the angry demon walking towards him.

'So this is how it ends, huh?' he thought.

What a pathetic way to die for someone who was once known as the iron fist of the underworld!

'I was born with the perfect golden spoon, and yet I'm still going to die in the middle of nowhere before reaching the peak of magic, all because of my own stupidity?'

'Why did I not run away when I had the chance? '

He didn't know as far as he remembered, and even when faced with unbeatable opponents, the thought of running away didn't even cross his mind.

Was it because of plain stupidity?

Pride? Overconfidence in his own abilities? Desire to protect the village and withhold his promises?

He didn't know, but what he did know was that it was too late to regret now; in the end, it was all meaningless—his talent, the golden spoon he was born with, his strength, the second chance at life he was granted

All meaningless because of his own stupidity and pride, he threw it away, now as he stared at the tower monstrosity.

All that was left was a bitter feeling of regret as he awaited his death; however, it never came, as when Kaust tried to punch him to kill him, a bright golden barrier manifested around him, protecting him from the hit.

Not only that, but a bright golden light flowed around him, healing his injuries.

In his moment of vulnerability and self-deprecation, he had completely forgotten about the artifacts given to him by his father.

He had used up one of these artifacts in his fight earlier, so he now had four more left out of which three were forming a golden barrier just to keep the angry demon at bay, while one last artifact healed him to a point where he at least didn't die.

But even after getting a bit healed, his body was still mostly broken and paralysed, and to add insult to injury, he was also mana and spirit energy less.

At this point, he was just a sitting duck, completely helpless in his situation.

He couldn't even use his life bombs, as they needed to be grabbed by him and consumed—two things he couldn't do in his paralysed state.

Getting annoyed by being unable to destroy the shield and killing the bastard who insulted him by destroying his horns and insulting his 'noble' race even after continuously punching the barrier.

Kaust chose to stop holding back and activate a skill for the first time in this fight.

"[Malevolent Pressure]"

As soon as his words fell, an overwhelming pressure fell on the whole area as the world turned slightly purple from his power.

And finally, with just a single punch after activating his skill, the shield broke, exposing William to the overwhelming pressure, which almost instantly knocked him out, but not before a familiar voice could enter his mind.

<My fellow divinity, you seem to be in trouble and need help, do you want me to give it to you? >

For some reason, as soon as he heard the voice, William breathed a sigh of relief, almost like he had been waiting for this, and without even thinking of the consequences, he muttered.

"Please help me." after saying this, he passed out.

He was completely unaware of the notifications displayed on the World System throughout the world.
