Wizard World:Struggles of dimensions

Chapter 113

113 Sacred Flame It had almost been a week since Layton and Shi Chen met in the ecstasy tower after Shi Chen had understood the subtleties behind the sacred flame he had invited Layton to join the research team focused on the creation and adaption of the flame to propel him towards the next stage of cultivation.

A research team was something mostly available to 3rd stage practitioners, every deity stage practitioner in school city was given their research team, the existence of clubs were basically research teams that had grown to a considerable size, research teams meant resources, wealth access to some hidden technologies and knowledge and most importantly the ability to use part of the school city computing resources to deduct, analyze and imitate various laws.

Legendary stage powerhouses could apply for a research team but the slots were limited and their research team needs to produce a tangible result or they would be deprived of the opportunity, individuals could be invited to join the team regardless of their stage of cultivation it all depended on the leader of the research team but it was almost impossible at least Layton had not heard any rumours of a stage 1 practitioner having a research team, so when Shi Chen had invited him, Layton was shocked at first but when he was taken to a small white walled room in the martial art department and given a contract to sign Layton’s questions and doubts subsided although the environment was small and the resources available greatly but it was undoubtedly a research team as to why Shi Chen was in possession of such an opportunity Layton was not stupid enough to ask.

Layton was not the first to be included in the research team, at different stages several individuals from different departments have been part of the research, he was included in the research team for a variety of reasons one was that there still existed a hint of that distorting and eroding will which came from that indescribable figure and such distortion would affect the normal deduction of the sacred flame technique, the other was that the most wizards would not be able to deduct the knowledge into a form suitable for a martial artist but this wouldn’t be a problem for Layton as he was a champion and was familiar with the martial artist methods, other wizards who could circumvent this restriction would charge exorbitant prices and their results might not be as good as that of Layton after all only he was aware of the origin of the sacred flame technique in the first place and could theoretically bring the researched results closer to the original.

After all, no one was an all-rounder and the knowledge about this kind of miraculous change involving the spirit and soul origin was included in Shi Chen’s blind spot, and although he could study on the topic it was taken for granted that he couldn’t really delve too deep into it and understand the profound changes hidden.

Shi Chen had left behind a lot of materials about his body, the measurements, components and his thoughts on the evolution and creation of his practice, Layton was in possession of the materials Shi Chen had used for reference to reach this point, a full scan of the parameters of his body, the rune composition that made up his organs and bones and the simulated rune array depiction on his body that kept all that running in good condition.

Layton had spent most of his time in this building and was very familiar with all the implements hidden within its white walls, it had taken him a lot of trial error and numerous calculation before he had inferred on the process on the birth of the flame created by his other self, based on his own understanding of himself and some guess work coupled with intuition Layton was able to roughly grasp the details that followed its birth, first both he and the other self used the haki rune or at least a variant of the rune, his three types of haki were twisted together and forcefully penetrated into his cells, stimulating and strengthening them, the connection between the haki and his cells allowed for the awakened chaotic instincts in the cells to easily spread and infect his mind coupled with the constant visualization and remembrance of the indescribable form he had witness in the spirit plane his soul was easily corroded, the corrosion deepened almost twisting his rune but with unbelievable will he forcefully accelerated the process while fully utilizing the rune increasing its access to the spirit plane the clash between different wills and the flood of spirit energy gave birth to a miracle, a spark, it was this spark that ignited the twisted and damaged rune keeping his mind safe.

What Layton had been busy with was recreating this spark in better controlled conditions, the emergence of the spark in his other self was a crazy uncontrolled process something only a lunatic would do and although Shi Chen was confident in himself and would not mind trying something similar but their conditions were different as Shi Chen was still fundamentally a martial artist and had no rune imprinted in his soul as his core and so it was up to Layton to find a different way.

After a lot of experimentation and simulation failure, Layton knew his knowledge was not enough to complete the process thankfully it was soon time for the first class of the wizard department in school city.

.....

Layton remembered the core class of the science department, it was a mix match of various high school basic science disciplines and knowledge, mostly practical knowledge and a few fun theories, although Layton still had memories of his basic education back on earth, the class was still useful to him, the science federation core class was different from that of the martial arts department one, the martial arts core class almost never changed it was based on the exposition of the body is a universe theory and supplemented mostly by the exposition of different combination and ways of expression of the body, will and energy coupled with the special environment that made it easy for the martial artist to fall into enlightenment and introspection the martial arts core class was one of the most popular in school city and was basically fully attended by almost all stage 1 martial artists even some higher practitioners drop in from time to time.

The science federation core class however was not very popular, it was hardly frequented as the theories and ideas stated therein was elementary and basic, basically an attempt to show off the fun side of science and a subtle indoctrination to scientific thinking.

It was mostly attended only by individuals who were lacking in basic scientific knowledge or by new practitioners. Nevertheless, although the class did not increase his limits, the knowledge was helpful in broadening his horizons, he had a new brand of little tricks he could try, not only in the application of his runes but also in the application of his spiritual power and optimization of its effects on the environment.
