Chapter 171 - 171 Camp
171 Camp
It had been 3 weeks since Layton arrived in this boot camp, the camp was not the only one but merely a branch as there were other camps littered around the universe hosting and training other selected members from the battlefield, in the time he had been here he had been thrown into various catastrophic simulated environments undergone severe combat test both against the fellow members of the camp and the various captured alien races that were imprisoned in the camp, various combat techniques used by various immortals were also open for them to peruse and comprehend.
it wasn’t only the battlefield that did this but also the virtual company and other small powers were gearing up for the big event, the huge change that would soon occur, the whole universe seemed to be in a state of preparation and hurry, judging from the preparations it was highly likely that a huge war would soon ensue. Layton wasn’t really surprised by this fact after all it had been quite some time since he and other visitors descended on this plane, the changes their peculiarity and strength brought had always been brewing, coupled with the fact that it wasn’t only legends like Layton and his teammates that descended but also practitioners of the deity level which were akin to the immortal level in this plane. This meant not only the human race but also the mechanical, Zerg and demon race all got new and strong combat power in a short amount of time coupled with the deity-level travellers of the fight club who desired war and the already tense relations of the four races the war breaking out was simply a matter of time.
Although the battlefield basically took in everyone not everyone was allowed to enjoy the resources of the camp only those who had been tested to possess good combat power sufficient luck or huge potential possessing a peculiar nature or path that most people normally couldn’t have, the test was basically the laisse faire attitude the battlefield had towards the device that guided candidates to the location of the camp, those who possessed sufficient luck wouldn’t be intercepted by spies and enemy forces, those with sufficient combat power even when intercepted would be able to hold on and survive till help comes and those with sufficient potential or walking a different path would be tightly protected by hidden masters not allowing any harm to befall them.
The virtual company as the only other force apart from the battlefield that was involved in combat related matters mostly took in geniuses who followed the commonly walked path, commonly travelled route of the human race that would ensure without death they could possibly become immortal practitioners and even possibly breakthrough to the rumoured higher realm.
Although Layton didn’t want to join the virtual universe because of their strict rules and nature, he wasn’t able to join the virtual universe even if he wanted to, his current path and his circumstances ensured that he didn’t really possess a domain that was inscribed in the plane, his bio magnetic field served as both his soul and his domain, unlike most of the other residents of the plane. Most of the participants in the camp were the same, there was carl who was presently at the top of the rankings in the camp he walked a bizarre path of combining his spirit, body and free energy around to form some sort of ‘qi’ he didn’t bother delving deeply into laws but instead used his ‘qi’ as his focus, his body and spirit were slowly dissolving turning into the ‘qi’ despite the danger of this road his combat power was unparalleled and could basically defeat most of the elite of the virtual universe, but despite his strength, the chance of him successfully becoming an immortal was close to none, countless cases such as this were absorbed into the battlefield and made it into the camp. It wasn’t that there weren’t successful cases of geniuses like that who became immortal but their path was mostly unique and could hardly be copied which didn’t fit the goal of the virtual universe in enriching the background of the human race. The orthodox path for most humans was successfully making their domain to become an independent small world and merging it with their body to become immortal this was mostly done by law comprehension, the different combinations of laws led to a diversity of roads to take.
Rip the immortal king who had picked up Layton was the same although he took the path of law he only focused on the most destructive fusion of fire and space laws, using his extreme attainments in wielding the axe and application of laws he perfectly simulated and created the hypothetical conditions needed for the universe to end which was the ‘big freeze’ and ‘big rip’, every full swing of his axe stimulated these laws either by using the fire laws to redirect and absorb the heat in the universe causing the hypothetical phenomenon knowns as the big freeze also known as heat death, the resulting effects making the space fragile and allowing his space laws to tear the fabric of reality and space causing the big rip, or by directly causing the space laws of the universe to form a tear causing the heat and thermodynamic energy in the universe to be lost causing the ‘big freeze’. These extremely destructive moves which had been created and welded into his instincts were naturally reflected in his domain and the laws beyond his control naturally led to the destruction of the domain and his physical body, through a stroke of luck and obsession he managed to survive but unable to progress any further with his lifespan limited unlike other immortals.
Layton was currently facing Carl, although in the past weeks, he had increased his combat power greatly and learnt rip’s moves ensuring his combat power could rival that of normal immortals but he was still not fully confident in being able to come out on top facing carl. Carl gazed at Layton with no fluctuation in his gaze, the emerald colour energy that was his qi spread out from him eating into the solid matter around turning the space around him into a swamp of energy, he stretched forth his palm and sent a palm strike, a bigger palm made out of ‘qi’ materialized from around him and stretched towards Layton, the energy squeezed out the air and space exerting immense pressure on its attack path as it volleyed forward, the energy contained in the palm eroded its surroundings making it extremely difficult for various laws to properly work around it.
