Chapter 209: Secret Revealed
Chapter 209: Secret Revealed
The fight had finally ended.
However, looking at Lu Tianzi's current state, one would never be able to imagine that this was someone who had just killed an Origin Core realm martial artist.
Right now, he was lying breathlessly on the ground, unable to move a single inch.
He had truly overstrained himself in this fight, much like the time in the Grand Mirror World when he faced off against the treasure spirit of the Limitless Reality Mirror.
Thankfully, he was at least able to slowly absorb the primordial Slaughter Essence from Chiren at the moment, which would aid in his recovery.
Chiren might be a demon, but he was still an Origin Core realm martial artist after all. The amount of primodial Slaughter Essence that Lu Tianzi gained from his death was far above any other individual at the Essence Condensation realm.
It might be some time before he could return to his peak state. But at this rate, it should not take long before he could stand once again.
Even so, now that he was in such a vulnerable state, Lu Tianzi suddenly opened his eyes wide in alert.
He might not be in the best condition right now, but that did not stop him from detecting the approach of another individual.
Nanlan Qianxue?
Lu Tianzi was surprised at what he saw.
Indeed, the young lady had emerged from the nearby cave, and was cautiously walking over with her Frost Jade Sword in hand.
Even though she had lost consciousness earlier, her injuries were actually lighter than it looked. After Lu Tianzi fed her a recovery pill, her condition had stabilised. Thus, she had promptly awakened after sensing the tremors from their fight.
On any other day, Lu Tianzi would have been glad to see that Nanlan Qianxue had recovered enough to walk.
But things were different this time.
"Tianzi?" Nanlan Qianxue's worried voice sounded out in his head. "Are you all right?"
Lu Tianzi let out a deep breath, as though he had just made some sort of huge decision.
"Yeah," Lu Tianzi conveyed his voice to Nanlan Qianxue in response. "Though I can't really move my body right now."
"You can't move your body?" Nanlan Qianxue revealed a surprised expression. "What about him? Is he dead?"
From where she was, Nanlan Qianxue could no longer detect any signs of life from the motionless Chiren. However, she knew better than to make blind assumptions when it came to an Origin Core realm martial artist.
That was the reason why she had been so cautious about approaching.
"Yeah, seems like it," Lu Tianzi replied.
"Is that so?" Nanlan Qianxue finally relaxed upon hearing Lu Tianzi's affirmation. "Come, I will help you up."
Nanlan Qianxue hurried over and lifted Lu Tianzi's body into a sitting position, feeding him a recovery pill while she was at it.
All the while, Lu Tianzi kept his eyes fixed on Nanlan Qianxue, as though he was watching something unnatural.
"Is something wrong?" Nanlan Qianxue naturally sensed the strange stare from Lu Tianzi as well.
"Why are you still helping me?" Lu Tianzi asked, his voice carrying a slightly interrogative tone.
"W-What do you mean?" Nanlan Qianxue stuttered, as though her conscience had been pricked.
"Are you not curious about my true identity?" Lu Tianzi probed on, disregarding Nanlan Qianxue's obvious discomfort.
In the fight with Chiren, that last move Lu Tianzi executed to defeat his opponent had broken through the confines of the Isolation Chime Bell. Since the isolation ability of the Isolation Chime Bell had been dispelled, this meant that Nanlan Qianxue, who was nearby, should have been able to sense the energy undulations from the fight.
Since that was the case, Nanlan Qianxue should also have sensed the Spiritual Essence component behind his last attack.
Yet despite that, Nanlan Qianxue had not hesitated in helping up Lu Tianzi, even feeding him a recovery pill.
Lu Tianzi could not help but feel surprised because of that, but that did not mean he would completely let down his guard. He had lived through enough cruel experiences to understand that he should not trust others wholeheartedly.
In fact, he was already preparing to expend whatever energy he had just recovered should Nanlan Qianxue decide to act against him.
Luckily for him, there had been no need for that so far.
Lu Tianzi continued to stare at Nanlan Qianxue, waiting for her response.
Knowing that Lu Tianzi was not about to let the matter slide, Nanlan Qianxue closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to calm down.
It was just as Lu Tianzi had said.
While Nanlan Qianxue was unable to truly determine the basis of Chiren's powers, as an Essence Condensation realm martial artist, she was still able to sense the aura of Lu Tianzi's attacks.
After all, despite his ridiculous combat strength, Lu Tianzi was still an Essence Condensation realm martial artist just like her.
"Does it really matter what your true identity is?" Nanlan Qianxue finally spoke, opening her eyes to stare right back at Lu Tianzi. "Everyone is entitled to their own secrets. It is just like back then. Were you affected when you realised that I was actually Nanlan Baisha's daughter?"
"What?" Lu Tianzi was slightly taken aback at the firm tone that she was taking. "How is that the same?"
"How is it not the same?" Nanlan Qianxue retorted. "In the end, everyone has a side that we would prefer not to show others. However, as long as it does not affect our true selves and how we do things, does it really matter what our true identities are? I am helping you because I want to help you. Is there anything wrong with that?"
Lu Tianzi was momentarily at a loss for words.
He knew that the magnitudes of the two matters were simply incomparable, but it was difficult for him to rebut Nanlan Qianxue's words either.
Indeed, what truly made an individual was his or her personality, not his or her background.
Going by that logic, it made sense that Nanlan Qianxue was not pursuing the matter on account of their friendship.
But things were not as simple as that.
Since ages past, it had been deeply ingrained in both demons and humans that they were each other's enemies.
Even if Nanlan Qianxue was really capable of ignoring the notion altogether, what if she revealed the matter to anyone else, be it accidentally or intentionally?
Lu Tianzi was not nearly nave enough to believe that everyone in the Scarlet Moon Kingdom would be acceptive of him.
Even if it was difficult to determine that he was a human just from this, there was still a risk that some powerful influences might target him for study purposes.
Had it not been Nanlan Qianxue but someone else, Lu Tianzi would certainly already be planning to get rid of her to prevent future complications.
However, not only was Nanlan Qianxue a person who had risked her life to help him, even if he had wanted to get rid of her, he was also powerless to do so right now!
Just as he was still contemplating over his next step, a message came in via his communication ring.
"Tianzi, a group of enemy forces have headed your way. We are currently in pursuit as well, but they have got a headstart on us. Be careful." Elder Mingxin's voice came through from the other end.
Lu Tianzi frowned immediately.
He was currently in an extremely weak state, and even Nanlan Qianxue was not in the best of conditions. If they were to encounter any enemies right now, especially anyone who was at the Origin Core realm, chances were that they would be powerless to resist.
"What's the matter?" Nanlan Qianxue asked upon seeing Lu Tianzi tense up suddenly. Apparently, she had not received the same message.
Perhaps it was because Elder Mingxin had yet to realise that Nanlan Qianxue had recklessly gone after Lu Tianzi.
"Elder Mingxin just sent a warning, saying that there are enemies heading our way. We need to get away from here," Lu Tianzi explained.
He understood his priorities.
Since there were obvious traces of a battle here, it was only a matter of time for the enemy to track them down to this location.
Even though he had yet to decide on what he should do with Nanlan Qianxue who had just learnt of his secret, the more urgent matter at hand was still to make sure that they were not found by the enemy.
After all, falling in the hands of the Dragon Cauldron Army would most likely translate to a death sentence, be it for himself or for Nanlan Qianxue.
And in his current state, Lu Tianzi would not be able to go far without relying on Nanlan Qianxue's help anyway.
In this situation, regardless of Nanlan Qianxue's true inner thoughts, Lu Tianzi definitely would not choose to disadvantage himself by pushing her away.
Hearing his words, Nanlan Qianxue frowned as well. She, too, understood the implications if they were to be found here.
"Let's go, I will support you," Nanlan Qianxue hurriedly helped Lu Tianzi up.
"We are not in that much of a hurry, at least take the valuables off of him before leaving," Lu Tianzi was still relatively calm.
This was not the first time that Lu Tianzi had found himself in such a dangerous situation.
He understood that they had come a long way from the battleground, and any enemy forces coming from there would take some time before tracking them down.
Alone, he would be helpless.
But with Nanlan Qianxue's help, there shouldn't be an issue with getting to a safe distance before the enemies' arrival.
"Mm, I guess you are right," Nanlan Qianxue could not help but calm down a little upon witnessing Lu Tianzi's composure.
Just as she was told, Nanlan Qianxue moved to removed Chiren's spatial ring, as well as the Burning Heavens Orb that was left lying on the ground.
After which, she helped Lu Tianzi up once again before leaving, heading even deeper into the wilds.

The sound of flowing water was accompanied by the crisp chirping of birds.
By the riverbank, Lu Tianzi was holding in his pain as he picked out numerous pieces of scales that had pierced into his skin.
What a shitty design!
Lu Tianzi could not help but curse inwardly.
These tiny scales were originally part of the Nine Dragons Flexible Armour. However, the flexible armour had been severely damaged during the fight with Chiren.
Judging from its current state, the Nine Dragons Flexible Armour could no longer be used effectively in combat.
But while that was a pity, it was not what caused Lu Tianzi to feel indignant right now.
What he found hard to believe was that when the flexible armour was torn apart during the fight, numerous scales that had broken off from the armour surface ended up embedding themselves into Lu Tianzi's skin.
These were no ordinary scales, but scales of an infant Flood Dragon!
They had served as a good form of protection when the Nine Dragons Flexible Armour was in working condition. But now, these hardened scales had actually added to Lu Tianzi's injuries, making it such that he had to first tend to his wounds before even attempting to regulate his inner world.
How could there be such a bad design?!
To think that this was an item placed at the Fifth Storey of the Pagoda of Treasures too!
Not far away, Nanlan Qianxue sat silently on a huge rock. Her eyes were closed in meditation.
It had already been a day since the fight with Chiren, and they had been on the move since then. With this much distance covered, no one should be able to find them in a short period of time, and they could take their time recovering before returning.
Now that they had stopped for a rest, Nanlan Qianxue naturally wanted to make full use of the time to quickly recover to her peak condition.
No matter what, this was still the wilds.
Even if they had gotten away from pursuers sent by the Dragon Cauldron Army, there could still be wild beasts in the vicinity.
Nanlan Qianxue understood that before Lu Tianzi fully recovered, it would be up to her to protect them both.
The main battle had ended in a mess, and even Elder Mingxin was unable to determine the current position, numbers, and strength of the pursuers chasing after them. Thus, neither of them dared to carelessly return to meet up with her.
If they were to encounter the enemy first, the outcome would truly be disastrous!
At this moment, a slight rustle in the bushes broke the tranquillity of the scene, instantly drawing both of their attentions.
A figure appeared from within the bushes, causing both Nanlan Qianxue and Lu Tianzi opened their eyes wide in surprise.
This figure that had emerged from within the bushes was a young boy who seemed to be barely ten years old.
He had a shaven head and wore only a pair of pants. His right hand held a long fishing rod while his left hand carried a wooden bucket of water.
But perhaps most importantly, he did not possess a tail.
