Chapter 49: The Executioner (2)
Chapter 49: The Executioner (2)
POV: Alexander Rivington
I kept swiftly dodging Azrail's constant barrage of punches and foot trips he attempted. Luckily my eyes have been able to keep up with his movement so far making me able to dodge swiftly instead of irrationally.
One small mistake would lead to him getting many hits on me which I couldn't afford to let happen.
His style is extremely aggressive, it was like every single punch he threw was an attempt to kill me. Veins were bulging all over his hands and head, he was looking at me like I killed his entire family. That was how much rage I felt from him.
I noticed his electrical wires multiply again which wasn't a good sign for me. He didn't give me enough time to control any element in my arsenal, I simply had to rely on my Ki.
I barely dodged another punch, it seemed like his speed had increased even further.
I felt his hand grab onto my collarbone, after I felt the connection I started to spazz out from getting electrocuted. I couldn't move my body at all and my muscles felt like they were about to burst.
With my vision still clear I tried to see what his next move would be, but when I tried to look, I felt a connection on my lower jaw.
The connection was so hard that it made me look up at the sky dazed, my vision had turned slightly blurry. The static noises had finally vanished meaning he wasn't in that form anymore.
I felt a palm slam into my sternum but withstood my ground and lowered my head to see Azrail's full body again.
His stance was weird, his body was at a 45 degree angle with his legs decently far apart. His left hand was forward opened while his right hand was by his chin closed. To be honest it looked stupid, but for some reason he made it work so well.
'I can't just fight defensively anymore, I really don't want to attack and hurt him. I have no choice but to though, I have to finish this quickly. So many things can go wrong with him in this mind state, I have to end this.'
Azrail launched himself at me, both of his hands were open this time. I shot forward as well grabbing both of his hands and squeezing tightly.
Our hands were locked together, neither of us budging an inch. Azrail quickly cocked his head bag and then threw it forward into my head. Our foreheads were now pushing back against one another with mine on the losing side.
'Light control, Ki prison.' I said in my head as Azrail's body had started to glow a golden color.
Azrail had gotten a lot weaker, I took advantage of this opportunity and quickly threw both of his hands down as hard as I could. Since he had suddenly lost his strength, he easily lost his balance.
With Azrail now almost to the ground I took his back and went for a rear naked choke. Azrail feeling this immediately dropped his chin as to defend the choke.
However that wasn't my goal, it was to actually scream in his ear. With him trying to defend himself against the choke I had full control over the fight, if he still didn't listen, I was going to knock him out.
"AZRAIL ITS ME ALEXANDER, STOP FIGHTING OR ELSE YOU MAY GET IN TROUBLE. YOU CAN'T GO AGAINST THE FALLEM EMPIRE SO CALM DOWN NOW!" I screamed directly into his ear which caused him to stop grabbing my arms.
"Get off me." He said in a disgusted tone.
"Are you back to your senses?"
"Yes."
"You're not lying are you?"
"No, now get off."
I quickly got off of him, he just took a seat and started to look around.
Although the staircase had some cracks in it the same couldn't be said about the trees. A decent amount of them ended up being ripped out of the ground or were blown apart.
Azrail taking in this sight finally looked back at me, I noticed that his veins were gone now. I decided to release my spell from his body as his prior emotional state appeared to be gone.
"What the hell did you do to me?"
"Oh that? It's a light spell which seals your ability to use Ki. In hand to hand combat I'm quite a bad match up for most people because of this. Let's not focus on that though we need to leave this place now."
"Why?"
"Simple, we hope someone else gets blamed for this or if we are really lucky they won't care enough about it to find us so let's go come on."
Azrail slowly got up and started to walk down the stairs, I had followed while being right next to him. This plan wasn't foolproof at all, but it was better than nothing. The rule book was quite vague on fights and punishments, so hopefully they let this go.
If they didn't want damages to happen, they would have simply forbidden fighting unless it was a duel.
Only our footsteps could be heard, Azrail kept his head down the entire time.
Physically he looked fine, but who knows what was happening in his mind right now. I still don't know what even caused him to react that way, still I was surprised on how strong he was.
Seeing his fighting ability firsthand was a completely different story, if I didn't know how to seal off Ki that fight would have lasted way longer.
Not only that, but this guy was able to force to his Ki and mana reserves to grow with nothing but pure rage. This wasn't completely unheard of, but it was extremely rare.
His control over electricity was also very impressive, it seemed that was the element he was most comfortable with.
It isn't considered to be one the strongest elements, but it is by no means weak. He seemed to be utilizing it properly, this guy was truly someone who deserved to be here. I just hope he performs his mission better because so far, he's made two major mistakes.
"Hey Azrail, how much time were you given to recover when you got back from Maru?"
"Almost three weeks."
'No wonder, he has had barely any time to actually recover. Why didn't the VIA wait to send him here next year? Could they find no one else suitable for the task or was it something else?'
When I had read over Azrail's files I was truly impressed with what he did, but everything comes at a cost.
He wasn't an adult when he made those accomplishments, no he was a kid when he made them. He has already lived an adult life.
War does unspeakable things to any living being. I once read a book that a soldier had written after the great war ended, that book had a major impact on my views about war. The book held such meaning to me that I asked my father if we could visit the author who had written it.
I'll never forget the day my father took me to see him, I was excited and had many questions to ask.
However what I met was a gravestone, the author who was a war hero had died.
The man who nobody could kill, he was feared by millions, a man who seemed invincible.
Yet that same man had taken his own life.
