A Child Turned Into A Soldier

Chapter 51: Finding A Job (2)

Chapter 51: Finding A Job (2)

"Follow us boy, I'll show you where the shop is. After that you can do whatever you want, just make sure to be there before sunrise."

I started to follow the couple while keeping track of where we currently were.

The path didn't have many turns from where we were, there were only three turns and all of them were quite simple. The couple were chatting to themselves about my hiring as I was busy memorizing which route I would take.

We arrived at a building which was made out of a red material. The building had the name 'Collectors Dream' on the front which was written in a sky blue.

"Okay boy this is my store, you'll be here tomorrow before sunrise for your first day of work. Now then fuck off so I can enjoy my day off with my lovely wife."

The man had received a hard back slap for his comments, I didn't mind it much though as he was now my boss. I bowed to the couple and started to make my way back to the academy.

I was glad that I received a job on my first day here, I was simply hoping that I would be good enough for it.

I still had plenty of worries, but my worry about finding a job was now gone. The main now was the damage I had caused on the stairway. I hoped that the Fallen Empire would simply not have cared about it. After all, the rules did state you were allowed to fight outside of campus, you simply just have to stop when you are told to.

I started walking the route I had planned back to the academy. I was rather slow in my steps as there was no need to rush. With the sun now coming down it seemed everyone else from the academy had the same idea.

Once I had finally reached the staircase, I saw many Elves and humans in groups speaking to one another. A few knights were also on the staircase, I tried not to make eye contact with any of them and made my way up the stairs.

Although the Elves and humans didn't speak to each other, that didn't stop them from glancing at one another.

'Where are the other two races though? I haven't seen them today, are they coming tomorrow?'

"Oh hey isn't that Azrail?" A familiar voice had entered my ears as I felt a chill go down my spine.

'Fuck my life.' I thought to myself while staring at the stone stairs. I tried keeping my head down while ignoring them to make them think that they got the wrong guy.

"Yeah that is him, let's see what he's been up to."

'Fuck my life.'

I heard the group stop moving, it seemed like they were waiting until I made my way up to them. I decided to raise my head and of course it was the princess and her friends.

As soon as I raised my head the whole group decided to wave at me. It was the exact same group that Alexander and I had spoken to.

"Hey Azrail! How was your trip to the capital!" The princess asked in quite a loud tone which caused every living being around us to look at me. I truly did not want to answer, I was put in yet another dogshit situation I didn't want to be in.

Once I made it up to them the group decided to follow at my pace, they all decided to walk in a horizonal line alongside me. The princess was to my right with the two guys and the girl who was in front of me during the meeting was to my left with her two female friends.

"Good, how about you guys." I said in a low tone while trying to sound as friendly as I could.

"You guys? Azrail aren't you quite rude, I'm the one who asked the question. Why would you ask only them?"

"It's a human saying that's inclusive, so I'm actually asking how all of your trips went."

"You are just no fun. I was obviously joking there's no need to be so serious and tense. We did have a lot of fun though, this Empire is truly amazing and the citizens were so nice to us as well. My kingdoms capital looks nothing like theirs, I sometimes forget how big our world truly is."

"Yeah, it really is something."

'That should be enough for them to leave me alone, talking to me like this is basically the same as talking to a wall. Now fuck off princess, I see right through your damn nice acting facade.'

"So tell me what you had to do today? I hope you don't mind me asking it's just that you left so suddenly which really surprised me. I didn't know you already had plans for your first day."

'....This bit... just calm down Azrail, breathe. They can sense emotions, calm it down. Just answer her stupid questions.'

"I went to look for a job, I had no luck though."

"Wow already looking for a job on your first day here? You sure are quite a hard worker, tell you what if I happen to find something I'll let you know. Who knows we might end up being coworkers." The princess said with a massive grin on her stupid face.

"Wouldn't that be great."

I noticed that where we currently were was where the fight had taken place. The odd part was it looked like nothing had happened.

I was stunned, I had many questions floating around in my head on how this was possible in such a short time and what kind of consequences I'd be facing. I didn't know what they were going to do, this is what I hated the most.

I heavily fear the unknown, not knowing what will happen causes me to overthink possibilities.

"What's wrong Azrail?"

'Damn it just leave me the hell alone already! I don't have time to deal with this amount of bullshit!'

"I'm just tired."

"Are you sure it's just that?"

'I feel like I'm about to snap again already.. Why can't she just leave me alone. I know she senses my damn emotions. Wait....Is she trying to get me to snap? That has to be it, maybe our first meeting and what I did to her brother have made me her target..'

"Yeah, I had a pretty long day so."

I had managed to keep my anger down after picking up on the princess's goals. I couldn't afford to play into her hand after so many mistakes I've made, I had to switch the situation around and use her.

"Alright if you say so, make sure to get some proper rest. When we go job searching tomorrow I'll make sure to let you know if I find anything, so don't stress yourself too much."

"Thank you."

'I need to figure out a way to make use of her, maybe her friends are a better target. She is a princess of a kingdom, so I'm sure she's been taught to keep her lips sealed. However, her friends are a different story.'

We had finally reached the top of the staircase with the gate already opened.

We had entered the campuses ground and I started to walk to towards my dorm. The Elves dorms was the same way, so the group had followed me. Once I reached my dorm the group had started to wave me off.

"Bye Azrail, we'll see you tomorrow!" The princess said with a smile beaming on her face.

'Just you wait.....'
