Rewarding effort
Rewarding effort
I wandered about Realgam tower for a bit after that. 'This place isn't half bad actually, it's got a restaurant, a bar and the arena itself. Not to mention this place was clearly made without sparing any expense. Black and white marble checkered floors, electromag transit platforms and even pneumatic elevators and polymer construction materials.' I thought genuinely impressed. Unfortunately I also easily noticed the issues with this place being like this, maintenance for example was going to be gods awfully expensive. I'm talking the floors, walls and mechanisms all would rapidly wear down if this place was open to the public.-
I suppose that if it were used exclusively for higher end trainer battles and only for tournaments every now and again it wouldn't be TOO expensive but it was still bound to cost a pretty penny to maintain. 'It's too obvious that this place was designed with the hope of drawing in money from out of the region. That plan clearly failed since Cypher is gone now. I wonder who if anyone is going to take control of the place?' I pondered and couldn't really think of anyone that fit the bill in the region.-
Orre wasn't exactly a place teeming with oppurtunity so rich folk didn't really have a reason to invest in this place. In fact I was fairly certain that if I hadn't shown off the places specialty, double battles, Mr. Stone wouldn't have decided to set up a branch of the Devon corp here. Hell I was willing to bet blood that the branch was going to be running at a loss for a few years until a flowing economy got going where money went to the branch and from there outside the region and then back in the form of products not found here.-
I could speed that up with the whole special spice idea of mine but again actually convincing people here to farm the stuff and sell it was more effort than it was worth, for me at least. I'd rather just hand over a whole fucking lot of money to Duking and let him deal with enriching the region. A good start would probably be creating artificial pokemon habitats in the oasis's that dot the region by importing berry seeds and pokemon to be released there from afar to start little colonies.-
Having a healthy population of wild pokemon in the region would be a very good thing for the place as it meant potential variants that could further enrich the trainers here. Depending on the species chosen to be brought in it might be possible to also start terraforming the desert slowly around the oasis's by the pokemon there passively extending the places radiuses. It would take centuries at least to see a drastic change but once it was successfully implemented it was inevitable unless something stepped in to stop it. Honestly though I couldn't see any reason why something would as it was good for the region.-
Still in the end this was something best left to someone who actually lived in the region as I myself would soon enough be leaving. I had no reason to stay anymore even if the league would probably wish I had to help out with that professor that was supposed to be coming to the region. I was just going to get the matter of the Hubs care solved before heading to my next region to continue my pokemons training. Anyways once I fully checked out the Realgam tower I headed back to the Hub on Vulcans back while the fliers flew overhead.-
Once we were back to the loud sandstorm surrounded place my pokemon went about their own business and I went to meditate. You could color me surprised to see Wes and Rui show up about an hour later. "You know when I said to stop by I honestly assumed it would take longer." I joked. "We have people looking keeping an eye out for the remaining shadow pokemon but it'll take time for that to pan out." Wes said calmly. "I see and out of curiosity what do you intend to do with the shadow pokemon after you catch them all?"-
"You can't just take them with you after you leave unless you get a professor in another region to hold onto them for you right?" I asked curiously. "How'd you know we were going to leave?" Rui asked surprised and I noticed she said "we" and not "i" but chose to leave it be. "Educated guess, still the question stands." I said casually. "Was hoping you might be able to help with that since you are already taking care of three of the shadow pokemon." Wes said pointing at the garden and pond that had the ex shadow pokemon relaxing at.-
I shook my head "This place is large sure but it's nowhere near large enough to handle that many pokemon and in the case of those three they have a purpose as to why they are here. They will take care of the oasis while I am gone in the future and I was going to go looking for a house sitter for this place as well soon. My time in this region is drawing to a close after all since I already discovered the forgotten secrets of this place." I said honestly.-
"Really!?" Rui exclaimed in shock and excitement. I nodded "Give me a moment and I'll send a copy of my final draft on the subject to your PDA, it's quite the tale." I said before walking over to my PC and copying and sending the draft to their PDA's as promised. They read through the draft while I prepared some berry juice from the berries that grow out of my garden. I also ground up some ice to create a sort of smoothie. "Here you go" i said setting the drinks down in front of them.-
Rui looked at the oddly colored mixture and took an experimental sip from the straw before her eye widened in surprise and started gulping it down. "I know it's good but slow down a bit or you'll get brain freeze." I said not more than a second before a pained look came over her and both Wes and I chuckled. "I don't think she can be blamed in this case as this drink is really good, how'd you make it?" Wes asked curiously. "Not to toot my own horn but I happen to be a master level chef and currently have access to premium ingredients whose freshness could not be beaten. Straight from my garden there to those drinks in fact."-
"As for the actual recipe its the juice of a Mago, Qualot and Iapapa berry in equal portions for about half a glass and then the other half being crushed ice, you could alternatively substitute snow in for ice in a pinch." I explained honestly. "Aaand saved, thanks for the recipe!" Rui said happily after copying the recipe down.
