Chapter 16.1: Is Your Heart Made of Stone?
Chapter 16.1: Is Your Heart Made of Stone?
The 500 meters distance leading out the stadium took a good seven or eight minutes of driving.
After crossing the intersection, the cars scattered to different sides, and the road suddenly became a lot more clear.
When Shi Yan drove, he liked to lean back in his chair relaxingly. Although he didn't put much strength on the steering wheel, the car was fully in his control.
On top of that, the current speed of the car was actually very fast.
Zheng Shuyi clenched tight onto her seat belt as she sat upright. She stared at the fast-changing view in front of her, not daring to even turn her head.
Until he saw a red light at the next intersection, Shi Yan finally stepped on the brake and then turned his head slowly.
Although he didn't speak, nor was Zheng Shuyi looking at him back, she could guess what he was trying to say through his eyes.
Zheng Shuyi looked straight ahead, blinked her eyes calmly, and said, "Let me think for a bit longer."
"Okay."
Shi Yan placed his hand on the steering wheel and looked at her with a faint smile, "Are you done making your story yet?"
Zheng Shuyi: "Don't worry, even tests are ninety minutes long."
Shi Yan didn't reply. His focus returned to the road.
Watching the car rushing on the streets, Zheng Shuyi suddenly thought of something.
Where are we going?
She took a glance at Shi Yan and saw that he seemed too lazy to pay any attention to her. So she decided not to ask and silently closed her mouth.
In the quiet environment, Zheng Shuy slowly reached down and rubbed her ankle as she took deep breaths.
"Ouch, it really hurts."
"Be quiet."
"Oh"
The rest of the ride was in complete silence.
The car slowly left the downtown area, drove on to the viaduct, and crossed the river. They entered a place where it was mostly green; the number of buildings decreased significantly.
Therefore, Zheng Shuyi clearly saw the big neon-lighted characters in the distance, "Jiang City-Hemu Hospital".
She blinked and turned to look at Shi Yan.
Shi Yan didn't seem to notice her look as he slowed down and steadily drove into the parking lot.
After parking, Shi Yan unfastened his seat belt, opened the door, and got out of the car. Then he walked to the passenger seat.
He pulled the car door, leaned half of his arm on it, and looked down at Zheng Shuyi.
"Get out."
Her guess was proven wrong. Shi Yan still got a tiny bit of sympathy left for her.
Zheng Shuyi wanted to smile, but she also wanted to maintain her painful appearance, so she held her smile back.
She only stretched out one leg and placed it on the ground, but she didn't get out.
"My feet hurt. I can't stand up."
Shi Yan just looked at her.
As long as he didn't say anything, in Zheng Shuyi's eyes, it wouldn't count as a no.
The night air was wet and cold. The plants had just been watered and the ground was filled with a misty feeling.
"I can't walk either."
Zheng Shuyi said while trembling, making the weather feel even colder than it already was.
Seeing Shi Yan still just standing there, Zheng Shuyi continued, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have hurt my ankle."
After speaking, she carefully opened her arms towards Shi Yan.
What she meant was: Carry me.
She wasn't sure if he could really get her meaning though.
Shi Yan seemed to be a bit impatient now.
"Zheng Shuyi, stop pretending."
Zheng Shuyi felt as if she was about to cry
"Who's pretending?" She looked at Shi Yan sadly, "Is your heart made of stone?"
"No."
Zheng Shuyi bit her lips, "Then you"
Shi Yan: "I'm heartless, you said it yourself."
Zheng Shuyi: ""
"What's wrong with you? You try wearing high heels and then sprain your ankle. It feels like your heel is being ripped from you, it hurts okay! Oh, you have never worn high heels before, and you wouldn't"
Shi Yan didn't want to listen to her blabbering anymore. He suddenly opened the door completely, then bet down and carried Zheng Shuyi out of the car.
Suddenly being carried in the air, Zheng Shuyi's mind went completely blank, as she subconsciously reached out and placed her arms around Shi Yan's shoulders.
It wasn't until Shi Yan carried her in his arms and started walking towards the hospital did she realize what was going on.
Originally, she just wanted Shi Yan to carry her on his back.
At this moment, she was in his arms. She could smell the light fragrance on his clothes and could even feel his body temperature. All she needed to do was raise her head and she could rub her face against his chin. The scene couldn't be more affectionate.
Zheng Shuyi's arms were wrapped around his shoulders.
After she slowly felt his breathing, Zheng Shuyi gradually buried her face in his chest.
Then, she quietly giggled.
The hospital was brightly lit.
Because it was a private hospital, there weren't many patients. Almost everyone that was walking around was doctors and nurses.
Shi Yan carried a woman in his arms and walked in casually, therefore also attracted the attention of numerous people.
Feeling that someone was looking at her, Zheng Shuyi secretly raised her eyes and saw the two front desk nurses leaning on their desks and looking at them with a smile.
"Oh my! So handsome!"
"I want to be carried like the princess too."
"My boyfriend can barely lift me."
"I want to be that girl so bad."
Although Zheng Shuyi could not hear everything clearly, as a woman, she could guess what they were saying.
She raised her head and looked at the side of Shi Yan's face. Her smile could even be seen in her eyes.
"Have your ex-girlfriend ever told you that you look very handsome in this angle?"
Shi Yan didn't respond at all to her flattering.
When he walked up to the emergency room, he stopped in front of the door and looked down at Zheng Shuyi.
When he lowered his head, the two of them looked at each other.
Zheng Shuyi felt her breathing speeding up, and her palms also felt sweaty.
Shi Yan said coldly, "Have your ex-boyfriend ever told you that you're very heavy?"
The way Zheng Shuyi spoke before was out of kindness and truthfulness, her tone was even a bit shy.
But Shi Yan's words sounded like nothing but mockery.
""
Zheng Shuyi's breathing was completely messed up now.
She couldn't bear it anymore.
"No!"
But I think you have the potential to become my first ex-boyfriend to say this.
She thought quietly in her head.
"Ouch ouch ouch!"
Zheng Shuyi sat on the bed, and every time the doctor moved her ankle, she would yell.
"I'm not using a lot of strength"
The doctor on duty was a middle-aged woman. Seeing Zheng Shuyi's painful appearance, she asked, "Does it hurt that much?"
Zheng Shuyi glanced at Shi Yan.
"I'm just sensitive to pain."
Shi Yan just stood on the side and showed no response to Zheng Shuyi's words.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
After taking a look at the caller, he left the room.
After that, the doctor continued to check her ankle, and Zheng Shuyi didn't make any noise.
"Ah, so you're just faking it," said the doctor with a smile, "I was just wondering, your condition doesn't even look that serious."
Zheng Shuyi didn't reply.
