AI Doctor : From Slave to Beast King

Chapter 86: The Remains of the Last Transcendental Beastman

"A music box? I need to take a mission where I need to destroy a music box?" Damien felt amused and angry at the same time. Was he that useless that Master Godric was sending him to a kiddie mission such as this?

"You are thinking of the small music boxes that are sold in the market, Lord Damien," said Master Godric with a smile. "However, I am not talking about those boxes. The one I am talking about is a music box created by the powers of a transcendental supernatural."

"One that has the power to kill millions with its melody the second it is played."

He paused before asking, "Have you ever imagined how the screams of those punished in hell might sound?"

"Hellish?"

His response brought a smile to Master Godric's face. With a shake of his head, he told him, "Imagine countless people trapped in a pit of fire, screaming for help and crying in pain. What do you think you will feel if a sound as similar as that is played in your ears?"

"I don't think I need a lullaby such as that," Damien said with a lighthearted smile while trying to ease the tension in the room. Because he for one was sure that he didn't need to hear a melody such as that.

Even imagining it was enough to make the small hair at the back of his neck stand up.

Master Godric smiled at him before saying, "Of course you don't. Now imagine a sound a thousand times worse than that, one that could evoke terror so worse that a person would like to die rather than hear it."

"One that could make your soul shake with fear and agony until you are driven crazy."

The elderly man leaned back on the chair before saying to Damien, "What do you think of it? Do you still think that it's just a music box?"

"I dare not," Damien replied with a calm voice even though he could feel his insides quake. What was Master Godric thinking about sending him to a mission as dangerous and important as that?

"Did you not just complain that he was treating you like a child?" Dan asked with a frown as he read the brain waves of his host.

"Shut it," Damien told the AI system. "I wanted something in the middle, neither too high nor too low, what am I supposed to do about this?" He was neither a warrior nor a tactician.

He was just a doctor!

Master Godric glanced at Damien who was looking at the corner of the room before saying, "We have heard some disturbing rumours —I thought that it was better to wait for a while before addressing this mission but it seems like we no longer have the time to do so."

"Why?" Damien asked as he turned his attention to Master Godric.

In response to his question Master Godric took out a crumpled-up paper which resembled the newspaper of the Aeloria City and placed it in front of Damien who took a look at the front page headlines and felt stunned when he saw the picture displayed on it.

It was the same place – the one which he had been dreaming of these past few days.

But why was this —

Putting a halt to his thoughts he read the headlines above the picture.

[Haunting Dig or the Beginning of Another Transcendental War?]

'Last night, the rumoured site where one of the remains of the leader of the Dark Ones was buried was not only explored but also dug up. Leaving the entire population of beastmen in Brystoria scared and worried. The officials say that they had no idea regarding this and that there was no such thing as the alleged digging that others speak of.'

'That there were no remains buried in the lands of their city, but it remains to be seen whether they are speaking the truth or not. Or is this just another attempt at squashing the rumours?'

"What...do they mean by remains?" Damien questioned as he raised his head and looked at Master Godric who raised a brow and replied, "I thought that given how you are so interested in the history of the Brystoria Empire you will know about this."

Damien cleared his throat before replying, "I did… but how is that related to this–"

Master Godric sighed as he gripped the edges of the armrests of his chair. "In the first transcendental war, a beastman rose to the ranks of transcendental beastman by sacrificing an Impert Snake. You can probably understand how he was welcomed after he committed such an atrocity. He was not accepted by the council but he somehow managed to climb his way to the council that rejected him.

But that wasn't enough for him, he wanted more power – more authority. One that would make it impossible for anyone to look down at him."

Master Godric turned to look at Damien with his shrewd eyes and asked, "Can you tell me what it was?"

"Umm.. the throne?"

"That's right," Master Godric nodded as he explained, "And that was how the fight for the throne began. At the end of the war, your ancestor cut Azazel's limbs off and then cast his remains far and wide all over this land. The army of that transcendental beast dispersed but that doesn't mean that they are gone."

"Then …" Damien frowned before asking, "Why would someone want to dig out the remains of someone who died?"

"Died? Oh no, transcendental beastmen can never die. They are immortals for a reason whether agony or in comfort, they will stay alive. Whatever that is left of Azazel is very much alive in the graves where his remains were buried.

He is still very much conscious of the pain that he was in at the moment when his body was cut off, and yet the desire to avenge and gain the power that he had once lost is still just as strong as it was when he was alive."

"So someone is helping him…" Damien said.

"That is the general idea," replied Lord Godric.
