Chapter 6
C6 – Spirit Promoting Liquid
Returning to his room, Jiaang Lin retrieved a medicinal furnace, ready to start the process of boiling a medicinal liquid. Previously, with his meridians blocked, he was clueless about martial arts and even less knowledgeable about the art of medicine preparation. Consequently, his room lacked a specialized furnace for concocting medicinal liquids, leaving him only with the medicinal furnace he had prepared for his frequent bouts of illness, to brew remedies that would strengthen his frail body. Otherwise, he, the notorious failure of the Jiaang family, wouldn’t even own a medicinal furnace.
“Ah, what a miserably poor life…” he lamented.
With the medicinal furnace set up and the kindling ablaze, Jiaang Lin grabbed a fan and began to stoke the fire. While waiting for the water in the furnace to boil, he shook his head in frustration, his face a portrait of dejection.
It wasn’t until the water reached a rolling boil that Jiaang Lin added the various Spirit Fruits he had gathered from the Medicine Pavilion into the furnace to simmer. He was intent on creating a concoction known as ‘Spirit Promoting Liquid,’ a remedy capable of effectively purging the blockages from his meridians.
Indeed, with his past life’s extensive experience in alchemy, Jiaang Lin could recall countless superior formulas that would effortlessly cleanse his meridians. But as the proverb goes, even the most resourceful cook cannot prepare a meal without ingredients. The Medicine Pavilion of the Jiaang family lacked the necessary Spirit Fruits for those superior recipes, and Jiaang Lin, now penniless, was in no position to procure them.
Therefore, he was forced to compromise and settle for the most basic ‘Spirit Promoting Liquid.’ After some time, the once-clear water in the medicinal furnace thickened, turning into a vibrant, grassy green hue, while wafting an enchanting medicinal aroma throughout the room.
“Spirit Promoting Liquid, to clear the meridians. With this concoction, it should be more than sufficient,” he mused, a hint of optimism in his tone.
After ensuring that the Spirit Promoting Liquid was fully matured, Jiaang Lin lifted the medicinal furnace and poured its contents into the bathtub in one swift motion.
Stripping off his garments, he leaped into the bathtub, immersing himself with a look of sheer contentment. As soon as he submerged, the grass-green Spirit Promoting Liquid began to furiously infiltrate his body through every pore, methodically dissolving and expelling the impurities within his meridians.
The transformation was visible to the naked eye; the once green liquid slowly darkened to black. The previously intoxicating scent of the medicine now morphed into a foul odor.
”Blissful!” Jiaang Lin exclaimed.
Having fully absorbed the Spirit Promoting Liquid and cleansed the impurities from his meridians, he felt invigorated and instinctively stretched languidly. His skin now shone with a crystalline clarity, and the bruises that once marred his body had vanished without a trace. His skin was soft, his previously pallid complexion now glowed with a healthy rosiness, and his black eyes sparkled with an even brighter luster, hints of sharp brilliance occasionally flashing through them.
Once dressed, Jiaang Lin settled into a cross-legged position on the bed, his eyes gently closed as he began to silently channel the supreme Heart Arts from his past life—the Heaven Earth Creation Spell. This very spell had been instrumental in his rise to become the preeminent warrior of the Divine Martial Continent.
With the Heaven Earth Creation Spell, Jiaang Lin could absorb Heaven Earth Spiritual Energy at a rate multiple times faster than his peers, and his advancement in cultivation was significantly quicker as well. It was this very spell, stumbled upon by chance in his previous life, that had paved the way for his remarkable achievements.
“The Yin and Yang of the cosmos give birth, the myriad spirits of heaven and earth come to life. From one Dao emerge three Magic Images, the Eight Trigrams clear the air in the Nine Halls.”
The mantra of the Heaven Earth Creation Spell echoed in his mind, solemn and majestic as the chant of the Myriad Buddha. With the spell in motion, thick strands of Heaven Earth Spiritual Energy began to flood toward him from every direction, as relentless and powerful as the tide.
Energy surged unceasingly into Jiaang Lin’s body, traveling through his meridians and pouring into his dantian without obstruction. The spiritual energy whirled within his dantian, forming a white qi vortex.
This qi vortex is a phenomenon that ordinary people create after absorbing Heaven Earth Spiritual Energy and refining Genuine Qi within their dantian. The formation of a qi vortex signifies the cultivator’s entry into the Body Refining Stage, marking their true beginning as a practitioner.
The qi vortex consists of nine levels. A single turn indicates that the cultivator’s strength is at Body Refining Level One. With two turns, they reach Body Refining Level Two, and so on.
When the ninth turn of the qi vortex is achieved, the Genuine Qi coalesces into pill essence, and the cultivator ascends from the Body Refining Stage to the Qi Gathering Stage.
At this very moment, the white vortex within Jiaang Lin’s dantian spun furiously, quickly advancing to the second turn. Then, without pause, it spiraled into the third and fourth turns! Only after reaching the fourth turn did the qi vortex cease its motion, having reached full saturation.
”With the meridians unblocked and achieving Body Refining Level Four, the Heaven Earth Creation Spell is truly exquisite!” Jiaang Lin opened his eyes, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He was aware that without the unparalleled Heaven Earth Creation Spell, advancing to Body Refining Level Four in one go would have been an unattainable feat.
”Now that I’ve entered the Body Refining Stage, the Battle Soul should emerge,” Jiaang Lin murmured. With a thought, two types of Battle Souls materialized behind him: a Flame Battle Soul and a Blood Eye Battle Soul.
Battle Souls are a special force that significantly enhances a cultivator’s combat abilities, manifesting the strength of their soul. The more powerful the soul, the more formidable the Battle Soul becomes.
There are various kinds of Battle Souls, including beast souls like the Fierce Tiger Battle Soul and the Violent Bear Battle Soul; weapon souls like the Sword Battle Soul and the Blade Battle Soul; and natural Battle Souls like the Flame Battle Soul, the Ice Battle Soul, and the Thunder Battle Soul.
Jiaang Lin’s possession of the Blood Eye Battle Soul marked him as the bearer of an exceptionally potent special battle soul. In his previous life, it was this very Blood Eye Battle Soul that enabled him to vanquish numerous formidable foes and ascend to the rank of the most powerful warrior on the Divine Martial Continent. This battle soul granted him the ability to effortlessly discern the weaknesses in his enemies’ techniques, as well as to identify shortcomings in his own, rendering it an immensely powerful asset.
At present, however, Jiaang Lin’s cultivation level and Soul Power were insufficient, rendering his Flame Battle Soul and Blood Eye Battle Soul comparatively feeble. It was only through the gradual enhancement of his strength that these battle souls could mature and manifest their formidable capabilities.
“Bang!”
Amidst Jiaang Lin’s training session, the door to his room was abruptly forced open with a kick. Several figures strode in with an air of hostility. Leading the group was a youth about eighteen years old, clad in a white robe and strikingly handsome, though his brows betrayed a chilling, sinister energy. This young man was Jiaang Lang, whose cultivation had reached the Body Refining Level Three. Within the younger ranks of the Jiaang family, his talents and strength were considered middling.
Trailing Jiaang Lang were several Jiaang family disciples, all of whom Jiaang Lin recognized. They were the very ones, including Jiaang Ren, who had assaulted him in the back mountain earlier that day. It was clear to Jiaang Lin that Jiaang Ren had come seeking retribution. Considering that Jiaang Lin had nearly rendered Jiaang Ren incapable of continuing his lineage earlier that day, it was only natural that Jiaang Ren would not let the incident slide.
“What’s the matter?” Jiaang Lin asked, exuding tranquility as he rose to his feet. He faced the grim Jiaang Lang and Jiaang Ren, his expression bright and affable.
“You worthless piece of trash! How dare you kick me in the crotch back on the mountain today? I’m going to make you pay for that!” Jiaang Ren bellowed, still seething from the earlier humiliation.
“So, you’ve brought your big brother Jiaang Lang to back you up? Aren’t you ashamed? Needing your big brother to handle a ‘worthless’ opponent like me?”
“If I were you, I’d have slit my throat and ended it all by now!” Jiaang Lin declared, his face alight with mischief and his voice dripping with mockery.
“You little punk, you dare to mock me? I’ll make sure you’re crippled by the end of today!” Jiaang Ren was furious.
He charged at Jiaang Lin with a group of Jiaang family disciples in tow.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
But as soon as they lunged at him, Jiaang Lin kicked them away effortlessly. They crashed to the ground in disarray, their cries of pain filling the air.
Across the way, Jiaang Lang watched in astonishment as Jiaang Lin dispatched Jiaang Ren and the others with such ease. His eyes narrowed, and a flicker of surprise crossed his gaze.
He was familiar with Jiaang Lin, the so-called waste who couldn’t cultivate due to blocked meridians. A typically timid and reticent figure with no apparent skills.
Yet today, he was thoroughly shaken. Was this still the same feeble and incompetent Jiaang Lin he knew?
Could he truly still be the same person who was unable to cultivate?
How could someone who was considered incapable of cultivation send Jiaang Ren and his companions flying with such ease?
“Brother, did you see that? This bad boy has some skills. We’re no match for him. You must give him the thrashing he deserves for me!” Jiaang Ren eventually called out.
”Your brother coming here won’t make a difference!” Jiaang Lin suddenly quipped with a chuckle.
In a blur, he lunged at Jiaang Lang with the speed of a leopard, too fast for Jiaang Lang to even react.
Bang!
A dull thud resounded as Jiaang Lin’s foot struck Jiaang Lang squarely in the chest, pinning him mercilessly to the ground.
The onlookers, including Jiaang Ren and the other disciples, were left dumbfounded, their faces a mix of shock and disbelief.
With just one kick, Jiaang Lang was utterly defeated, without the slightest chance to retaliate.
