Chapter 16: Female students will only affect the speed at which I shoot fireballs!
After consuming several valuable elixirs that initially seemed quite potent, Zhao Xing suddenly regained vitality. Observing his improved demeanor, Guan Ya also breathed a sigh of relief.
“Zhao Xing, you can’t act recklessly. In that situation just now, you scared me half to death.”
“You must be extremely tired… I can’t fathom how you managed it.”
As Guan Ya connected with Zhao Xing, she naturally assessed his face-to-face condition. Depleting strength wasn’t a trivial matter. Once mental or physical strength crossed a certain threshold, it led to a negative state, hindering natural recovery and even diminishing the effectiveness of certain enhancing potions, essentially placing one in a ‘severely injured’ state.
“I understand. I’ll do my best,” nodded Zhao Xing, determined to persevere.
“No, you have to promise me!” Guan Ya insisted, gripping his hand with concern.
Zhao Xing raised his fingers and quipped, “Okay, I swear on the lamp that I’ll be cautious not to harm myself. If I break it, my brother won’t find a girlfriend.”
“Pfft,” Guan Ya chuckled, amused. “You swear on your brother?”
“Think of it, it’s been two hours now, and your brother is still waiting for you. Why don’t you take a break first and grab a meal?” She asked.
Zhao Xing agreed, “Sure, I happen to be a bit hungry.”
With physical and mental strength not yet fully recovered, there was no need to rush. Meals could be replenished, albeit not as swiftly as through equipment blessings. Nonetheless, it was a habit and source of enjoyment.
Seeing Zhao Xing and Guan Ya leave, the director outside the door greeted them promptly.
“Teacher Guan, student Zhao, heading out?”
“Yes,” they responded.
The middle-aged man adjusted his glasses. “Shall we send our team in to clear the discarded materials and make space?”
Zhao Xing shook his head, remarking, “Clear it up, but don’t discard those materials. There’s nothing useless inside.”
The director was puzzled, “No scrap at all? Are you joking?”
“Those materials may not be suitable for low-level enchanters, but they can be reserved for intermediate and advanced enchanters. Don’t discard them without checking.”
Though filled with question marks, the director complied due to prior orders, concealing his emotions.
“Alright, I understand, Mr. Zhao. We’ll check,” he assured.
“Thanks.”
After Zhao Xing and Guan Ya departed, the director promptly instructed relevant personnel to inspect the materials. The indoor space appeared chaotic, but every material emitted a glow, indicating potential usefulness.
The director, glancing at the scene, couldn’t help but be surprised.
“This… Is this for real? Not a single piece of scrap?”
“Did he not use these purple materials at all? Just had them moved for inspection?”
Enchanters and disassemblers, initially puzzled, approached and checked. Their doubt transformed into shock.
“All used!”
“Revamped, remodeled—everything!”
“Oh, my God!”
In a short time, several enchanters exclaimed. Understanding the situation, the director urged them to collect and store the items discreetly.
“Pick it up, preserve it carefully! Remember, you’ve all signed confidentiality agreements. You know nothing once you leave this door. Understood?”
“Yes, Director.”
“We understand.”
Despite their astonishment, the staff adhered to the regulations, categorizing and moving the utilized items for storage.
…
At Anyang No. 1 High School’s restaurant:
“Brother, is this your girlfriend? Do you have a girlfriend? Hello, sister-in-law!” Zhao Ming’s opening remark caused Guan Ya, who came for a meal, to blush slightly.
“Zhao Ming, what nonsense are you talking about?! This is my teacher, Teacher Guan Ya.” Zhao Xing reprimanded, giving Zhao Ming a light slap on the head.
“Ouch.” Zhao Ming rubbed his head. “Well, how was I supposed to know? Mr. Guan is so young and beautiful. I couldn’t guess her age at all. I thought she was your classmate.”
Guan Ya found his comment amusing. This kid was more adept at bringing joy than his brother.
“You’re Zhao Ming, right? I heard your brother mention that you’re a big kid,” Guan Ya teased. “No girlfriend in school, I presume?”
Zhao Ming proudly declared, “Plenty of girls are chasing me in school, but I aim to become a Law God’s man! Female classmates only affect my fireball-shooting speed, so I don’t consider them!”
Guan Ya burst into laughter, while Zhao Xing couldn’t help but find his brother boasting a bit much. During the cooking time, Zhao Ming began to vent.
“Miss Guan, you don’t know. My brother often bullies me. If he’s free, he makes me cook with fireballs. If it burns, he blames me.”
“Cooking is one thing, but when the hot water is gone, he makes me boil water! I’m a dignified fire master, yet I’m stuck doing this. Is there still justice in the world? Is there still the king’s law?”
However, as he spoke, Zhao Ming sensed a change in Guan Ya’s expression, prompting a quick adjustment. “Teacher Guan, you don’t know how great my brother is to me! He consistently improves my skills for my future, even during meals and baths. He’s truly the best brother in the world!”
Guan Ya couldn’t help but chuckle. This kid had a knack for humor.
Zhao Xing, with a cold snort, sat down with a bowl of rice. “You’re quite clever!”
After dinner, Zhao Xing and his brother exchanged words.
“Zhao Ming, starting today, you’ll have dinner here every day after school. A teacher will pick you up, but don’t cause trouble for me, and express your gratitude to those who pick you up.”
“Also, don’t get involved in romantic matters at school. You’re not even 13. Don’t entertain such thoughts!”
Seeing Zhao Ming nod obediently, Zhao Xing released his brother’s neck and patted his head. “Very well, you can go back now. The car is outside.”
“Brother, aren’t you going back?” Zhao Ming asked. “Did you make a mistake and have to stay in school for work?”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Zhao Xing retorted. “That’s not the case.”
In a low voice, Zhao Ming confessed, “But I sneak a peek at you outside your lab window. You seem to be in bad condition and working hard.”
“Brother, let’s not skimp on this meal. Can we eat at home? Scrambled eggs with tomatoes are delicious.”
Zhao Xing smiled and patted Zhao Ming’s head. “Don’t worry. It’s nothing like that. There was an incident in the lab. Your brother is being well-treated now and will be transferred to Transcendence Academy in the future.”
“Think about it. When have I ever lied to you?”
Zhao Ming tilted his head, pointing his fingers. “Yes, apart from saying that scrambled eggs with tomatoes are delicious, you come back early, and you turn white when you sleep…”
“…,” Zhao Xing couldn’t help but be speechless. Why did this guy remember so much? Was it just for the sake of remembering that his brother lied to him?
“Stop counting, get out of here, and go back to sleep!”
“Oh…”
Watching his younger brother get into the car, Zhao Xing returned to the laboratory and donned the Hat of the Scholar again.
“The upgrade of simple material fusion. It seems better to use something close to my level. Purple materials are still too challenging. Let’s try white and blue materials first!”
“Fusion, commence!”
