Chapter 9
C9 – Triggering Abnormal Movement
The Cultivation Room was furnished with stark simplicity—a solitary futon lay at its center. It was clear that those who visited were here for the sole purpose of cultivation, not indulgence.
“Remarkably different from the outside world! Just stepping into the Cultivation Room and taking a breath, I can sense the presence of Spiritual Energy. Here, the Vital Energy is more vibrant than that within a Spirit Stone, undoubtedly of a superior grade!” Peng Gengkun inhaled deeply, his surprise evident.
While the Spirit Stone contained Vital Energy, it felt lifeless, lacking vigor. Though usable for cultivation, the benefits it offered were minimal.
But now, Peng Gengkun experienced an entirely distinct Spiritual Energy within the Cultivation Room.
Seated cross-legged on the futon, he promptly engaged the Leviathan-roc System. Almost immediately, he felt a current of Spiritual Energy rise from beneath the futon, enveloping him like a flowing river. As the Leviathan-roc System whirred into action, the Spiritual Energy coursed through his limbs and torso.
“Such intense Spiritual Energy! Is all the energy in the Cultivation Room this potent?” Though taken aback, Peng Gengkun quickly came to terms with it.
“Of course, this is my first visit to the Cultivation Room. It’s only natural that I’m not accustomed to such robust Spiritual Energy. This is pure, natural energy drawn directly from the earth’s veins, incomparable to what’s found in Spirit Stones! Best to concentrate on my cultivation.”
Peng Gengkun cast aside his wandering thoughts and dedicated himself to operating the Leviathan-roc System.
The Spiritual Energy completed a full circuit through his meridians before converging in the Qi Sea. However, Peng Gengkun lacked a Qi Sea, so after one complete cycle, the Leviathan-roc System absorbed the Spiritual Energy.
Simultaneously, he noticed a shift in the Growth Value of the Leviathan-roc System.
“6,515,000? To think that just one cycle of Spiritual Energy could enhance my Growth Value by a fraction! While it may not seem like much, I plan to cultivate here for ten hours. Perhaps by the end of it, I’ll have made the leap to a higher realm!”
Peng Gengkun’s heart swelled with elation as he immediately engaged the Leviathan-roc System at full capacity, voraciously absorbing the Spiritual Energy within the Cultivation Room. Concurrently, his Growth Value surged upward without pause.
Amidst Peng Gengkun’s frenzied consumption of Spiritual Energy to elevate his realm, other Warriors in adjacent Cultivation Rooms abruptly opened their eyes, taken aback by an unexpected change.
“What’s happening? Why has the flow of Spiritual Energy from the earth’s core dwindled so drastically?”
“Curse it! I was on the cusp of a breakthrough with just one more session of cultivation today. Now, why has the Spiritual Energy thinned to such an extent? Who’s siphoning the Spiritual Energy from our Cultivation Room?”
“Is the Spiritual Energy depleting? It took me ages to secure a spot in the Cultivation Room!”
Beneath this tier of Cultivation Rooms lay another, yet this one was markedly more sophisticated than its upper counterpart. Anyone who sampled the Spiritual Energy here would notice it was over threefold more potent than that of the Cultivation Rooms above.
Xi Yingzhu had just emerged from one such advanced Cultivation Room.
Now, the Cultivation Rooms on this subterranean level were experiencing the same anomaly.
Warriors there opened their eyes in astonishment, their attire starkly different from their peers above—they were all Inner Sect disciples. Among them were a handful of elite disciples whose cultivation prowess was nearly on par with the Inner Sect disciples.
These elite disciples were equally astounded.
“Who’s attempting a breakthrough? To snatch such a vast amount of Spiritual Energy in one fell swoop—damnation!”
“Could it be a Grade B master on the brink of a breakthrough in the lower Cultivation Room? Only that could explain such a rapid depletion of Spiritual Energy!”
Indeed, this underground level was the domain of the Grade C Cultivation Rooms within the Flying Cloud Sect!
At this moment, everyone in both the Grade D and Grade C Cultivation Rooms was reeling with surprise. The shockwaves reached even the Grade B Cultivation Room below, where the inhabitants were equally stunned.
The disciples of this level, though also Inner Sect members, boasted cultivation far surpassing those above. In fact, should these disciples venture to the upper Cultivation Rooms, their formidable strength would easily dominate the entirety of the Grade C occupants.
But now, the Inner Sect disciples were all taken aback.
Directly below the Grade B Cultivation Room was the Grade A Cultivation Room, the most prestigious training space within the Flying Cloud Sect.
The Grade A Cultivation Room, though compact, was the sanctum of the sect’s elite: top masters, Direct Disciples, past disciples, and even Elders.
Within one of its chambers, a striking man slowly opened his eyes, his gaze betraying an unmistakable astonishment.
“The Cultivation Room taps into the earth’s veins, drawing in the Spiritual Energy within. Deeper rooms brim with denser energy, and it’s consistent at each level. How could there be such a sudden drop in Spiritual Energy? Could it be that someone is at a pivotal moment in their training, absorbing it in vast quantities for a breakthrough?”
Baffled, he rose to his feet and left the room.
In the hallway, he noticed several other Cultivation Room doors ajar. Heads poked out, faces etched with confusion.
Despite the presence of the sect’s most skilled practitioners, Direct Disciples, and even an Elder in the Grade A Cultivation Room, they all greeted him with deferential bows.
He gestured dismissively, “No need for formalities or alarm! It seems we have someone on the cusp of a breakthrough, drawing heavily on the Spiritual Energy. This is auspicious for our Flying Cloud Sect!”
His words eased the tension among the crowd. An Elder, stroking his beard, chuckled, “Judging by this commotion, it’s likely one of our Direct Disciples is on the verge of elevation! We may soon witness the rise of the youngest Elder in the Flying Cloud Sect’s history!”
The conversation sparked among the other Elders.
“I’d wager it’s Cao Linzhang. With his exceptional talent, a breakthrough is well within reach!”
“Or perhaps it’s Mei Zhongxin! His swordsmanship is unparalleled; this could be his moment.”
Amidst their varied speculations, consensus eluded them. Eventually, they abandoned the debate and retreated back to their Cultivation Rooms.
Despite the Spiritual Energy in the Cultivation Room being incredibly scarce, nobody was willing to abandon their cultivation practice.
The ten hours flew by in an instant.
Once the ten hours were up, Peng Gengkun, the instigator of the turmoil within the Flying Cloud Sect’s Cultivation Room, emerged.
He stretched languidly, feeling invigorated.
“The Spiritual Energy in this room is truly abundant. It not only boosted my Growth Value to 2781 but also fortified my body. It’s no surprise that everyone is eager to train here! Sadly, I’m limited to just ten hours of cultivation.”
With that thought, a tinge of melancholy washed over him.
