Another Stupid Isekai

Chapter 737 T.D.O.N.B: On The Hunt

The first thing I noticed, despite all the chaos around me, and all the noise made by the screaming officers, was the two ambulances, parked next to Joseph's car.

He was there, looking straight at me, just to the side of the whole hostage group who was being taken care of. Tihana tried to escape, to step out for me, as she also was yelling, but one of the medics tried to stop her.

- Everybody, please calm down! - shouted mister Wu, as he took a few steps toward me. - This is a person who helped free the kidnapped people! Please put your guns down!

He only made them all more confused. They clearly needed an order from somebody of bigger authority.

I had a slightly different idea of how to resolve the situation than he did. I seized the moment he created for me and used 'Telekinesis' to just take the guns from the policemen who loosen their grips on their guns. I was swift, and decisive, which quickly made all of the pistols levitate in the air. Then I slowly made a pail of them just next to me, as they watched with fear in their eyes.

Some tried to grab different weapons, but most of the firearms were gone.

- If I wanted to kill you, or hurt you, you would be long dead! - I pointed out, so loud that everybody could hear me. - Since I didn't you shouldn't try to provoke me by pointing your toys at me! Get me whoever is in charge here, so we can clear things up!

Murmur spread around like wildfire. Soon an agent in a bulletproof vest over an elegant white shirt showed up. He had a wire over his right ear.

He was quite slim and of average height. Shaved cleanly, with brown hair cut short.

- I'm agent Rod Thomson - he introduced himself. - Who are you?

- Peter. I'm a hunter from Arc, and over there - I pointed at Tihana - you have my daughter whom I just freed from the hands of the cartel.

He nodded, then turned around to face the others.

- Please put your gu... put your weapons down - he said.

It came out quite awkward, as I already made fools of his men. I guess he was quite nervous in the situation he found himself in, so he was working more on autopilot, than thinking clearly. I decided to give him a hand, at least a little bit.

- I found them in this building. There are no cartel members inside. They tried to kill me, so... I defended myself - I lied, pointing at the building with an open hand.

It also made me notice all the shadows who were gathered there in a line, so I send them back, scaring most even more.

- Those were mine. I used them for a safe evacuation of the hostages - I quickly added.

- T-thank you, but please, do not go anywhere. We will have more questions - said the agent.

Everything in his body was showing me that he was scared and nervous. He became sloppy since his mind was unfocused, and he needed a moment before making each simple decision, but eventually, he sent a force inside the building to check everything. He also began calling whoever knows who.

I got a window to go and see my family.

- Thanks dad - said Tihana, like she didn't feel anything in connection with her current situation.

- A-are you ok? - asked Celestine.

- Please... I'm too awesome to get hurt in situations like those - I replied, making her, and a few of the medics smile.

- Ok, mystery awesome - said Celestine. - We are not hurt too. Maybe a few bruises, here and there, but overall it's fine.

- Great. It seems like you are not too shaken by what happened too - I pointed out.

- It's thanks to Tihana. She kept telling those thugs that she will come and beat them up - she informed me.

I glanced at my daughter.

- They didn't listen. Idiots - Tihana snorted.

Her reaction brought a smile to my face. I was getting more and more proud of her. I was also happy with myself, that I managed to rise her so well. She seemed confident, smart, and ready to take action. She was brave and composed even in such situations as this one. I wondered how much what happened before with John transformed her like that.

- I'm proud of you - I just threw at her out of the blue. - Let's talk about this later, because I need to do a few things before.

Then I switched my attention to Joseph, who was with his son but remained silent. One glance made me believe that he was disappointed with John. Their relationship looked terrible.

- I'm gonna leave for probably the rest of the day. I need you to take care of my family. Can you do this for me? - I asked him.

- Yes, of course.

- Thank you - I said, and then took off.

My flying speed was slow by my standards, so I ended up creating plates out of the void essence and running on them toward the first location given to me by Vato. I was using his phone, to make sure I was moving in the right direction.

I easily breached the barrier of sound and got there very fast. Then I lost all the kinetic energy via shadow walk, finishing with a heavy landing in front of a large mansion in Los Angeles. The district was very wealthy. There was no doubt about it.

Behind a tall fence made out of metal bars was a house that put mine to shame. Garden, a large pool outside combined with a few hundred of square meters of very nice property.

I also noticed a garage. It was open, and inside it were a few very expensive cars put on display.

I didn't hesitate at all and opened the gate. I needed to use force to break it open, which caused an alarm to go off. With my keen hearing, I could hear it even from the street despite the beeping sound going wild in the house itself.
