Chapter 140: A New Level of Confrontation. Cutting-edge Technology!
“Wang Yun said he wants hotpot, asking you to deliver enough for eighty people, with extra beef slices, lamb slices, tripe, and pig brain…”
As the middle-aged man’s voice echoed, the Captains of the twelve program inspection teams, along with all viewers in the livestream, watched this scene in utter disbelief.
“What the hell? Big Brother wants hotpot? He’s asking the Captains to deliver hotpot? With beef slices, lamb slices, tripe, and pig brain? What in the world?”
“My god, what’s going on? How can Big Brother be so bold? To actually ask the captains to prepare hotpot for him?”
“Is he for real? Wow, such audacity! Directly demanding the program inspection team to deliver hotpot to him? Isn’t this a sheer humiliation?”
“666! Big Brother’s audacity knows no bounds. I’m in awe. Even now, he’s asking the program inspection teams to bring him hotpot. The arrogance, the boldness!”
All viewers across the livestreams, upon hearing the middle-aged man’s words, were wide-eyed, their expressions filled with shock and amazement.
The twelve program inspection teams had already arrived, and now Wang Yun was asking for hotpot?
This audacity was unprecedented.
Was this still a standoff situation? Beyond uttering “666” and “awesome,” what more was there to say?Outside Longshan Tunnel, the Captains of the various program inspection teams were also left speechless upon hearing this.
“Insolence!”
Captain Everick, upon hearing these words, his face contorted with intense emotion. His expression was one of extreme discomfort, as he couldn’t help but let out a low growl.
“Too arrogant, simply too arrogant. They’re completely ignoring all of us program inspection teams,” the Captain from the United Kingdom’s program inspection team remarked with a grim expression.
To make such a demand at this time was nothing short of a blatant disregard for them. What else could it mean if not to mock them?
“We must find a way to kill Wang Yun,” declared a captain from Germany, his face etched with severity.
His gaze swept across the group, meeting nods of agreement from the other captains, all wearing solemn expressions.
At that moment, the middle-aged man in front of them held a phone that started ringing. He checked the screen and promptly handed the phone to the gathered captains.
“This call is from Wang Yun.”
Captain Everick quickly took it, answering the call with a steely face.
“Bring all the hotpot within an hour. If you’re even a minute late, and our hunger becomes unbearable, we’ll have to kill someone to alleviate it,” a voice directly stated as the call connected.
Hearing this, fire flashed in Captain Everick’s eyes. He opened his mouth to respond but the call abruptly ended the next second.
Captain Everick’s face darkened, gripping the phone so tightly he seemed ready to crush it.
“Someone go and prepare it,” Captain Wu Mingyu said from the side, his face a mask of resignation.
With so many hostages inside, they had no choice but to acquiesce to Wang Yun’s demands. Such a large number of hostages would necessitate a compromise in any country worldwide.
“Could we possibly lace the hotpot with some kind of poison?” Ying Yuezi suddenly suggested from the side, causing a stir among those listening.
“The drug should be colorless and tasteless, mixed into the food. It doesn’t have to kill instantly, inducing unconsciousness would be enough,” Ying Yuezi suggested, turning her gaze toward Wu Mingyu and the others.
“We’re not experts in this field, and with just an hour to work with, it might be too late,” Wu Mingyu and his colleagues expressed doubt, casting their glances toward the Captains of the other eleven program inspection teams.
“This could be an excellent strategy to take down Wang Yun,” Captain Everick said, his interest piqued.
He immediately turned to an elderly man beside him.
“Hehe, I specialize in this area. I’ll send someone to the nearest hospital to fetch some drugs right away,” a blonde middle-aged man from the West Country declared, his eyes alight with intensity.
“What kind of drug, and what are its effects?” Kolyev asked, pressing for details.
“Finding the drug is easy. The concoction I can prepare will cause limb paralysis twenty minutes after consumption,” the blonde Captain from the West Country explained, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Such paralysis will render them incapable of moving. Even if Wang Yun is highly vigilant and has the hostages try it first, they won’t wait twenty minutes. This toxin’s effects can be reversed later.”
“Hmm, that might work. If they get poisoned, we could win,” another Captain from the West Country agreed, nodding thoughtfully.
“No, do you think Wang Yun is an idiot? Given his demonstrated intelligence, he’ll surely be on alert for this. He’s asking for hotpot, how could he not foresee this possibility? Besides, according to our intelligence, the complete annihilation of the guards at the maximum security prison was due to poisoning. This shows that Wang Yun must possess extensive knowledge about medicine and drugs, making your approach too simplistic,” a Captain from the United States quickly countered as soon as the Captain from the West Country finished speaking.
“Let me take over. Poison is too easily detected. I happen to have a special weapon at my disposal, hehe,” added the Captain from the United States, his lips curling up in a confident smirk.
“Hmm? Captain Coniso, what kind of special weapon is it?” a Captain Germany’s team asked, looking at him curiously.
“Biological weapons,” Captain Coniso from the United States revealed, smiling slightly, “Of course, this is a basic biological weapon. Its effect? Instant death. My biological weapon’s unique feature is its combination. Two liquids, each colorless and odorless. On their own, each liquid is harmless, but when combined, they create a lethal toxin.”
Biological weapons? A combination of two liquids? Instant death?
His words slightly startled everyone present.
Biological weapons have always been regarded as the most terrifying and inhumane weapons. There was international opposition to such weapons. Even if Coniso’s biological weapon lacked additional capabilities, its ability to cause instant death was profoundly frightening.
“Captain Coniso, while your biological weapon is potent, it’s also recklessly foolish. If Wang Yun has a hostage try it first, its presence will be immediately revealed. By doing this, you’re only going to provoke Wang Yun and endanger the innocent hostages,” the blonde middle-aged Captain from West Country said coldly.
“Hehe, as long as the dosage is minimal, it won’t be a problem. This biological weapon causes cardiac arrest leading to death. At a low dose, it’ll merely cause unconsciousness, and I can precisely control that amount,” Coniso said casually. “That’s why I alone am sufficient for this task.”
Now, although Wang Yun had insulted them, they’d also found an opportunity to fight back. If utilized properly, they might be able to eliminate Wang Yun this time. Therefore, he intended to grasp this chance fully.
“In that case, let’s use both the biological weapon and poison for double assurance,” suggested the Captain from the West Country, frowning.
“No, if Wang Yun discovers your drugs, wouldn’t that jeopardize my strategy?” Captain Coniso turned to them, outright rejecting the suggestion.
“I am an honorary professor at the West Empire Medical College, surely you’ve heard of it. The top medical institution worldwide. I possess unparalleled expertise in pharmacology. I’m confident in the drugs I administer. You surely don’t believe Wang Yun could detect the drugs I deploy?” the blonde middle-aged Captain from West Country, in response to Captain Coniso’s words, fixed him with a cold stare, “You don’t really think that someone in his twenties could outmatch me, an expert with decades of immersion in this field, do you? The drugs I administer are undetectable unless subjected to precise medical testing.”
“We’ll only add it to one type of food. If he detects our poison, it will significantly lower his guard against your tactics, which might actually be advantageous for you. Furthermore, how can you be so certain that your poison will remain undetected?” another Captain from West Country followed up, giving Coniso a cold stare.
“My weapon is incomparable to your type of poison,” Captain Coniso said calmly.
“I’m confident that my administered drugs will go undetected, and in the realm of pharmacology, I am an authority,” declared the blonde middle-aged Captain from West Country with confidence.
“Since both of you are confident, let’s proceed with both plans. It’ll provide an additional safeguard,” a Captain from Germany suggested from the side.
Captains Coniso from the United States and the blonde middle-aged Captain from West Country remained silent, which was taken as tacit consent.
They both understood that neither would miss this opportunity.
“At this point, our production team will need to verify the biological weapon and poison proposed by both Captains,” the production staff’s voice interjected.
“No problem,” both Captains from the inspection teams promptly agreed.
“Captain Coniso, proceed with the preparations,” Captain Everick gestured to his colleague before addressing all the Captains, “Wang Yun’s provocations and insults demand a response from us, otherwise, he may become even more reckless.”
“What response do you suggest, Captain Everick?” Captain Dragon Hand asked.
“Take down the drones. Wang Yun is monitoring our every action through them,” Captain Everick pointed out the drones.
“Alright, snipers, shoot them down!”
Several nearby program inspection team captains nodded and responded immediately.
The standoff was about to begin!
NOTES:
While I have some educated guesses for the other countries I truly have no idea which country West County (西斯国) is supposed to be. Not yet. Hopefully.
