Chapter 29 Benefits Of Befriending A Main Character
Alex had been staring daggers at Anthony for almost a minute. Meanwhile, I had been cheering them both on from the side, hoping to see some high-quality entertainment.
Just as it looked like Alex was about to make his move, Anthony went flying across the hall and slammed into the window, almost getting knocked out directly.
Lucia's eyes grew slightly green as she coated her hand with her Nature attribute's mana. On the other hand, Alex could see a slight amount of fear in his eyes, perhaps reconsidering whether he should pursue Lucia or simply get as far away from her as possible.
Luckily, Anthony wasn't a "main character" for nothing. It would take a lot more to bring him down. He walked up towards Lucia who seemed like she was about to murder nine generations of Anthony's family right this instant for s*xually harassing her.
"Sorry, I thought you were someone else."
I facepalmed upon hearing that line. Was that really the best you could come up with? These days either everyone was one of those "chosen" system's slaves or a brain-dead regressor. I thought regressors should at least be smart or maybe Anthony was just thinking from his lower half instead.
"The next time you do this, I'll kill you", Lucia threatened.
"I didn't expect this from you, Anthony. You actually tried to lay your hands on a young woman the moment you saw her", Alex added with a disgusted look on his face as he tried to get into the good looks in Lucia's book
Judging that there was no development about to occur here anymore, I left the cafe. Randomly roaming around, I stepped into an alley. The Academy was almost about a quarter the size of a whole city. This meant that it had almost all kinds of amenities one might ever need. In fact, most of the Academy's architecture was planned out in the form of a city itself.
Once I stepped into the alley, I attempted to conceal my presence by suppressing my aura. I didn't specialize as an Assassin but, up to a certain extent, it was still possible for me to hide myself from someone several sub-ranks below me.
After having successfully shrouded my presence, I looked back towards the entrance of the alley only to find myself being tailed by another person from the cafe with brown hair, yellow eyes, and a rough build.
Not being one of those retarded protagonists, I could roughly figure out that the reason he was tailing me must be because he saw me waving over to Anthony. He must have had some big boring backstory which somehow ended up in him having a crush on Lucia and then he saw Anthony hugging her.
He must have wanted information on Anthony so he tailed me to find me out. If I refused to provide him with the information, he'd probably try to threaten me.
'This is why it's better to stay away from those calamity magnets. This scene is such a cliche. If that guy had thought about the fact that his rank was most probably below me given the fact that he was still in the [F-] rank coupled with him not being able to sense my rank, he'd have at least had such thoughts.'
But looking at that dumb look on his face, I could tell he didn't even ever think about the possibility of him losing. Also, everyone in the whole Academy by this point had already heard about the Professors themselves enforcing the rules until the Academy started at its fullest.
But this was the result of being able to break free from your "Destiny". If you couldn't be manipulated by it, then it'd try to manipulate those around you instead. There were threads of fate connecting everything in this Universe with each other.
A person not affected by these threads of fate would still not truly be "free" as long as these threads could affect his surroundings and the people around him. Because, in the end, it could still have a meaningful impact on their lives.
Since he was a mere [F-] rank, I didn't need to even hide myself. My rank was almost in the top 50's so it made sense for me to easily be able to defeat him in a 1 on 1. I casually walked out from my spot and took casual strides towards him.
"Heh I found you, now you can't run from me anymore. Now, better tell me everything you know about that blonde-haired guy from the cafe who dared to blaspheme my Goddess Luc-"
"Shut up", I interrupted him mid-way. Couldn't be bothered to listen to his long speeches.
I willed my Earth element to drag out a small layer of material from the walls all around me so as to not have any serious impacts on the surroundings. I utilized my mana and manifested all that into 4 swords that were hovering all around me.
The air whizzed as I sent those 4 swords directly at each of the arms and legs of that man, directly stabbing him in his limbs without even giving him any chance to resist.
"AAAAAAH", He screamed out loud from the pain of having been skewered in four different places. I walked up to him and kicked him in the stomach while he was down.
If you let these people leave unscathed at this point, then they'd just call their uncles who were probably some high-ranked individuals at some big guild. The only way to avoid them was to traumatize them so much that they wouldn't even dare to think about going after you.
If those protagonists ever started doing this, they'd instantly be able to solve half of their troubles not including the fact that they'd probably attract calamities in some other ways instead.

[Fifteen Minutes Later]
I walked out of the alley leaving a bloodied nameless man who surprisingly had no wounds on him at all. Before leaving him, I decided to throw a potion on him. before knocking him out.
As a matter of fact, even if I hadn't used a potion on him, he'd still be absolutely fine after being healed by the Academy. No actions would have been taken against me either but better be safe than sorry especially when I have a few trillion credits to spare.
The Academy was a place where strength reigned over everything else. Essentially, as long as one had enough strength and was in the right both morally and based on the rules, he could practically do anything to the other person as long as he didn't kill or permanently cripple his enemy.
This rule prevented the weak from being bullied as long as they didn't do anything wrong, yet also said that as long as one was strong enough, they could punish those in the wrong themselves if they had the power.
Alex and the others had originally been punished not because they beat up their enemies to the point of them being knocked out. Rather, they were punished because they intentionally damaged their surroundings.
The Academy promoted fights between students and even often randomly dropped them under life-threatening situations under the guise of "exams". Strength was a requisite for an extra to survive in this world. I kept on reminding myself of this fact as I knew what the future of this world held.
I made sure that the nameless student would not be leaking anything about what I did to him. In fact, there was another reason why I put on such a show rather than simply sneaking my way out. That student didn't know my name and I doubt he would have spent enough energy to find me as he would have instead gone for Anthony himself once he wasn't able to locate me.
Using [Divine Eyes], I spotted someone surveying me from quite a distance. I wasn't sure about who it was but it was extremely probable that it was the mad scientist Simas Mendel. Nobody other than him would be interested in stuff like torturing others.
I simply wished to come off as a ruthless person in front of him which would help me strike deals with him later on. This unexpected trip brought me more benefits and entertainment than I could have thought.
Now all I had to do was to prepare and train for the incident that would happen on the first day of the Academy.
