Chapter 1245 Hopes Getting Torn Into Pieces
Meanwhile, as the girls were going back to their benches.
A few tens of meters away and out of the perimeter walls that surrounded the school, their friend whom they had run behind in worry was flying high in the air while her eyes fixated on a figure that was unusually walking towards the school.
"CHIIIII"
Feifei let out a chirp before she dashed at a great speed right towards the figure.
As for the person up to whom Feifei was rushing at.
It was a young man wearing some plain clothes with his hair quite long when compared to the normal men and tied into a pony.
In his hand was a paper with various kinds of inscriptions and symbols that looked more like a compass.
And no matter what direction the wind was blowing, the paper which had a dark blue arrow pointing at one end only faced the direction of the school which was a few tens of meters away from him.
"Good, now the compass is working just fine and in a few moments I will be able to find the child with the special body too."
The young man holding the strange rune strip muttered with a wide smile that stretched from one side of his face to the other.
"The Headmaster said that once I am just a meter away from the child the rune compass will start to continuously rotate."
He remembered the instructions that he had been given when he had been sent on this mission.
But then he muttered to himself.
"I wonder what had been really wrong with the rune compass all these days, if it had been working just fine all this long, maybe I might have already gone back to school."
"Junior sister Kai must be already waiting for me, Keke."
A wide grin appeared on his face as he said that name.
The Junior sister Kai was not his real sister but someone from the school he had been living in for more than 30 years.
Although he didn't look more than 25, he knew very well that he had already reached the age of 40 and the same was for his junior sister Kai of his who was just a couple of years younger than him.
The two had been in a good relationship for more than a decade by now.
And he had never been away from her during this decade for as long as he had been away for his mission.
He was already thinking of the merits that he would be getting after reaching back with the child with the sacred body back to his school and how his position in the school would be increased.
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but grin even further.
"I will ask the great elder for Kai's hand after this mission."
Just as he thought that he suddenly felt a burst of wind on his head.
Although it was quite cold for any normal person, for him who had already reached a certain stage of practitioner, he really didn't need to be wary about things like cold and hot surroundings.
But other than just feeling the swift air blowing his hair away, he felt a different kind of weird feeling that he had never felt.
He didn't understand what was happening before he saw a palm-sized shadow suddenly move past his eyes and then at his hand which was holding the compass rune.
After that, he heard the sound of something being torn apart coming from his hand.
Before he could even understand any of what had really happened, he felt that his hand was suddenly feeling a bit lighter than before.
Although the run in his hand looked more like paper, he knew that it was a special kind of leather that was used to craft the runes and in fact, it was a treasure that their school had taken care of for so many centuries.
But when he felt his hand getting lighter, a thought abruptly came into his mind as he looked down.
But when he saw the rune in his hand, his face contorted and after a look of shock, anger and disbelief, finally, an angry look remained on his face.
"You..."
He wanted to curse but he just could not think of what word could he use to vent the anger and anguish that was rising in his heart at this mere instant.
The rune that his school had been keeping as a treasure for so many centuries and was handed to him, the most capable of the younger generation for completing a mission which was deemed as important for the rise of their school now lay torn into two pieces right before him.
The upper half of the rune was not rotating like a kite that had lost its string while the other half was...
In the beak of a palm-sized bird.
"You...you insolent beast!"
He couldn't even think of what to say before he pointed his finger at a bird which looked like a sparrow but was comparatively quite larger than one.
The dark shadow that he had seen flash before his eyes just a moment ago was this bird right before him.
He couldn't even react before this beast had torn the magical treasure of their school into shreds.
The muscles on his face started to twitch.
Other than the shock and deep fear that was rising in his heart, he couldn't think of anything else right now.
"CHI CHI!"
Meanwhile, the sparrow simply tilted her head and flew away while still carrying the other half of the rune along with it.
"You beast, wait, give me the other half of the rune!"
The man ran behind it as the sparrow flew by.
When the few people who were walking by saw him, they couldn't help but shake their heads.
"What is wrong with that man's head?"
Calling a sparrow a beast was something that only a madman would do and even if a bird had carried away something would it be possible that one would be able to find it back?
But after seeing that there was no one around, the young man also ran even faster.
In fact, his speed was enough to shock even the faster sprinters in the country.
