Chapter 5
C5 – Who Else???
The sight was beyond comprehension.
An elite barbed sus scrofa being devoured by that snake?
There was no way Wu Yuexia would collude with Zhou Mu to stage such a spectacle.
After her breakup with Zhou Mu, Wu Yuexia had publicly maligned both him and the Zhou family.
The Zhou family’s patience had worn thin.
What followed was a battle that rocked Ambergrasp.
The Wu family’s business empire crumbled, losing over ninety percent of its holdings, with only the core assets remaining.
The Wu family’s numbers were decimated, with over seventy percent perishing. Wu Yuexia’s siblings suffered grievous losses. She even mourned the loss of more than thirty mothers.
Had the Wu family patriarch not personally sought reconciliation, and without intermediaries stepping in, the Wu family might have faced total annihilation.
With such a bitter feud, Wu Yuexia would never join forces with Zhou Mu in deception.
She was filled with shock and bitterness, spitting blood in anguish. Even her own confession wouldn’t convince anyone.
Murmurs spread among the onlookers.
Had it not been for the ban on communication devices during the exam, the news of Zhou family’s prodigy, Wu Yuexia, coughing up blood would have gone viral.
“Have I crossed into another world?”
Even the worldly Zhou Ming was baffled, suspecting he had slipped into an alternate reality.
With a gesture, a white fox materialized at his feet.
The fox, sensing an unspeakable terror, immediately sought refuge in Zhou Ming’s embrace, shivering uncontrollably.
“What’s the matter?”
Zhou Ming was genuinely startled. His chief snow fox was reduced to a quivering mess.
What was the story behind Zhou Mu’s serpent?
“Master, it’s the presence of a dragon!”
The snow fox stammered, too frightened to even glance at Gator.
“Why are you so scared?”
“I am merely a leader among foxes. The dragon reigns supreme over all fiend beasts! This snake may seem feeble, but to me, it’s as if I’m in the presence of a true dragon. Master, I am terrified!”
The snow fox was petrified. Without Zhou Ming’s presence, it would have likely fled.
“My nephew must be incredibly fortunate!”
Zhou Ming secured the snow fox within the confines of the contract space.
“Anyone else?”
“If you’re so capable, come and kill him!”
Zhou Mu was taken aback.
“Be quiet!”
Zhou Mu swiftly clamped a hand over Zhou Ming’s mouth.
“I’m done talking!”
Zhou Ming appeared to still have more to say.
After a brief silence of around ten seconds, Zhou Ming yelled out once more, “If anyone can use a spirit animal of second rank or lower to defeat Zhou Mu and prove he’s cheated, then do so. Otherwise, I’m declaring Zhou Mu’s practical combat test grade as first-rate!”
The crowd in the stands exchanged bewildered glances.
Typically, to earn a first-rate evaluation, one would need to slay ten five-star, second-rank fiend beasts.
A common third-rank fiend beast paled in comparison to an elite second-rank one. Gator had effortlessly devoured the barbed sus scrofa. None of the other fiend beasts stood a chance against its might.
Thus, any further combat was unnecessary.
“Get going now. And don’t forget to call your granddad.”
With no one else speaking up, Zhou Ming handed Zhou Mu a pocket-sized pouch and gave him a nudge with his foot. He roared with excitement, “Next tester, step forward!”
The footage and audio from the practical combat test would be archived. They would be released on the Animal Whisperer Union’s website once the examination concluded.
Wanting to avoid the spread of news, Zhou Mu intended to make a quick exit.
Encountering those obstinate folks meant he wouldn’t get away easily.
As he was about to open his car door to head home, he was surprised to find Qi Xiang in his vehicle.
“Why are you in my car?”
Zhou Mu gave her a sidelong glance, his annoyance palpable.
Qi Xiang was the daughter of the neighbors—adorable and beautiful.
Her family was wealthy.
Marrying her would mean no more struggles for him.
But to Zhou Mu, she represented nothing but trouble.
His focus was solely on increasing his strength.
“It’s because Uncle Zhou gave me the keys!”
Qi Xiang giggled, flaunting a large bunch of keys in her hand.
Zhou Mu’s frustration only deepened at the sight.
She held not just the keys to three cars but also to his rented place and his family home.
Zhou Mu couldn’t shake the suspicion that Qi Xiang might have more keys than he did.
“Every time I touch my left chest lately, it hurts. What should I do?” Qi Xiang asked, her large eyes blinking innocently.
“Just stop touching it!” Zhou Mu retorted with a snort.
“Do you think I’m sick?”
“Prostatitis!” he exclaimed.
The two bickered back and forth.
In a typical scenario, Zhou Mu would have married Qi Xiang and taken over the family estate with the blessing of both their families. If he lacked the talent to become an Animal Whisperer, he would simply inherit the family wealth.
But things were different now. Zhou Mu had crossed over from another world, and he had the aid of a system.
He was determined to rise to the top and become the ultimate powerhouse!
Upon reflection, he realized that with his current advantages, he might just be able to retire early!
