Chapter 28
C28 – Refusal
“Only faculty, staff, and students are allowed entry—no exceptions!”
The security guard halted Pei Yu in his tracks. Once on friendly terms with Pei Yu, the guard’s demeanor had shifted since rumors of Pei Yu’s impending dismissal surfaced. To him, Pei Yu had lost all utility.
Such was the harsh truth.
Pei Yu glanced back at his car and addressed the guard, “Mr. Jiang, you’re telling me you don’t recognize me now?”
Thinking Mr. Jiang hadn’t identified him, Pei Yu had stepped out to say hello.
Yet Mr. Jiang replied with undisguised haughtiness, “Pei Yu, you’re no longer employed by Martial Arts University. The principal has made it clear—if you’re not current staff, you’re not stepping foot inside.”
“Is that the case?” Pei Yu grasped Mr. Jiang’s implication.
They were all too eager to feign ignorance at the sight of Pei Yu’s downfall.
With a resigned smile, Pei Yu nodded in acknowledgment.
Their exchange was interrupted as a procession of university officials approached.
“What’s the hold-up here at the school entrance?”
The speaker was none other than the principal of Martial Arts University. Spotting the principal, Mr. Jiang snapped to attention and reported, “Principal, Pei Yu attempted to enter, but I’ve barred him. He seems discontent with the decision.”
Pei Yu could only stand there, dumbfounded by Mr. Jiang’s obsequiousness.
“Pei Yu, you’ve been expelled. Don’t bother returning today; we don’t need you casting a shadow over our school,” the principal declared with a tone of superiority. “We’re expecting VIPs shortly. Leave now. Jiang, make sure he’s gone. I won’t have any incidents today.”
Mr. Jiang nodded eagerly, herding Pei Yu away.
He had been briefed about the imminent arrival of dignitaries and was determined not to let Pei Yu mar the school’s reputation.
“But I still have belongings inside. Can’t I go in to collect them?” Pei Yu inquired.
“No. Leave immediately. You’ve lost any privilege to remain here!” the principal snapped, visibly agitated by the request.
Today’s guests were of paramount importance.
Pei Yu nodded, resigned to his fate, and began to walk away.
Just then, a convoy of luxury vehicles pulled up.
A group emerged from the sedan, with a woman clad in black sportswear at the center, shielded by the crowd as she made her way toward the main entrance.
“The leadership and the Master of the Super Martial Club have arrived!”
The sight of the guests approaching caused the principal and other school officials’ eyes to sparkle with anticipation. They lined up on either side, ready to greet the newcomers.
“Welcome to our school for your inspection!”
From a distance, Zheng Xiaoyue and her companions could hear the shouts of the Principal and faculty members.
Pei Yu remained where he was, but Mr. Jiang had pulled him aside. His gaze landed on Zheng Xiaoyue.
Flanked by a retinue of leaders and martial arts virtuosos, her visit to Martial Arts University was an event of significance, the likes of which hadn’t been seen in a decade.
The entire school community had taken great care in their preparations, which had been underway for over a week.
After all, she was the revered Master of the Super Martial Club.
Her stature alone commanded the respect of thousands, regardless of the role she played.
The principal was visibly thrilled. Gaining insights from Zheng Xiaoyue could potentially lead to his own advancement.
“Having you visit our school is a tremendous honor!”
Upon Zheng Xiaoyue’s arrival at the entrance, the principal bowed deeply.
“You’re too kind,” responded Zheng Xiaoyue coolly, poised to enter.
The school leaders, careful not to show any dissatisfaction with the Grandmaster’s demeanor, could only offer smiles as they trailed behind her. Just as Zheng Xiaoyue was about to step forward, she came to an abrupt halt.
