Chapter 58 Questioning (1)
"Logan Reid, Conal Price and Orson Smyth..." Logan's mother said to a police officer.
"When did they go missing?" the man asked.
"Two days ago. They were seen at school the last time."
"All right mam," the man then took a tablet from a drawer and then said, "you have to sign these papers in order to legally ask for the police's assistance," the police officer continued.
The three missing teenagers' parents went togheter to the police station in order to get help searching for their children. The policemen who interviewed them told them that it was essential to know if the children reported something suspicious before missing.
But none of the teenagers told them anything regarding their problems, so they had no clue. As for the cafeteria incident, Logan felt deeply ashamed of having sustained a wound against Erik and kept silent about it, while Conal and Orson didn't have any visible wounds.
Besides, It wasn't the first time that parents reported missing children. It was a daily occurrence in New Alexandria that, despite being heavily militarized, had a high crime rate.
There wasn't much that the police could do, since they were already investigating the disappearance of many other teenagers or young kids, but they would, for sure, send some people to search for them at least.
When the parents signed the paper, they were asked to go away and told that they would receive news from the police soon.
The six parents left the police station in earnest. The building was a four-story one with an attic, and it stood in one corner of what had once been part of an old park inside New Alexandria.
The whole area surrounding the station had long ago been developed into military barracks, but this particular building had escaped the fate.
It occupied quite a large lot on the north side of the street, and there were many trees around it for embellishment's sake: mostly oaks, elms, and chestnuts.
"What do we do now?" Logan's mother asked.
"There is nothing we can do, we can only wait for the police to start searching for them and give us some news."
"But there is no time!" Orson's father said, "If we don't do something now, our sons could end up dead!" he added.
"That's if they are still alive," Conal's mother said with a resigned look.
"Don't say such things, Mary!" Logan's father said.
"Look, as much as it pains me to say so, we all know that when teenagers disappear in New Alexandria, they are already dead. I don't get why we should lie to ourselves."
"You don't know for certain they are dead! We must hope for the best!" Logan's mother replied.
"Yeah, Lucy is right!"

Erik woke up the following day with a relaxed look, he slept well during the whole night and he felt good. "Good," the young man said, observing his status. He has improved a lot since he got the biological supercomputer. "It looks like I have enough DNA points to unlock the Lomalin's brain crystal power now." As usual, though, Erik had to extract it at night when he wasn't busy with school or work.
Erik then went out of the house and headed to the train station as usual. The day was hot as usual and Erik had trouble getting to school without sweating.
After a short trip to the train station and a shorter one to school, he finally arrived to the main gate. Multiple students were rushing inside the building but there was something different that day. There were multiple police officers asking questions to the kids.
"Fuck..." Erik muttered.
The young man then went past the gate, hoping not to be seen by anyone, he also avoided the police officers but as he did, he heard the students they were talking to yell, "That's him!" while pointing at Erik.
"Shit!"
The police officers slowly walked toward Erik, who started sweating bullets and have countless thoughts in his head.
<Have i been found out? Were they able to recognize me through the cameras?> these were just some of the thoughts that the young man had. His anxiety grew stronger with every step the cops took towards him. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the police reached Erik. One of them grabbed him, pulled him away from the crowd, and asked, "Is your name Erik Romano?"
"Yes, sir."
"We have some questions for you. Do you mind giving us a little bit of your time?" the police officers asked.
"Yes, sir, there is no problem."
The cops then brought the young man to a more secluded place where they could properly do their job. Erik tried to keep his composure, but that situation wasn't easy.
