Chapter 58: Day 2

When the server had opened again Ezekiel was quick to start leaving but he was stopped when he heard a voice.

"You, devil boy. You come here a lot?"

When he turned around he saw an incredibly large demon woman, she was build like some sort of degenerate's idea of a female barbarian and towered above him.

"Uhhhhhh hi?"

"Answer the question boy."

She approached with a hand on her hip and leaned close.

"Yeah I've been here a few times? I helpddy team out here when training to fight in the dungeon."

He was nervous as he started to wonder if they had trespassed on some demon woman's land without seeing any houses.

"Which one of your friends has the shadow affinity?"

At this he got even more nervous.

"What's that? Is that like going invisible or something?" He was laughing nervously while trying to back away.

When she saw this she simply grabbed him.

"Stop being a coward, a shadow mage should have some pride."

She started walking away.

"How long have you been in our world and how many know of your affinity?"

He was trying to struggle free but her grip on his clothes was to strong do he just quit, he worried that if he attacked her she would kill him.

"I have been here for five days and only three otherworlders know, oh and some mage that's keeping my secret because I helped her with her blood magic."

The demon frowned down at him before putting him on her shoulder.

"My partner will arrive shortly and when that happens we will be leaving."

"Wait, leaving? Why? I had things to do!"

He started struggling again but now her arm was wrapped around him.

"You will be safe in the infernal kingdom and we can ensure your growth there unlike this pathetic place."

He was curious about what this meant but he couldn't be bothered now.

While listening to her talk he remembered that he had been given a reward as part of the completion of the hard mode dungeon.

When he took the chest out the demon stopped.

"Where did you get that..."

"From the system, I was part of the team that completed the first hard mode dungeon clear in the world."

"Must be taking only the otherworlders into consideration for that achievement, this dungeon that you beat is in this region?"

"Yeah we trained our shadow magic resistance to be able to protect us from the boss because she mainly uses shadow magic to attack, we wanted to go after nightmare next."

The demon was taken aback now.

"You wish to take on a nightmare rank dungeon at this level? What a brave devil... if your people have only just beaten the jard rank then you may actually have a chance."

She seemed to be thinking about something now.

"If I were to let you stay and guard you would you return with us after completing the nightmare mode? Letting a greater shadow devil gain two pieces of unique gear would be to good of an opportunity."

"What's so special about unique gear though?"

The demon frowned and sat down with a sigh while letting him go.

"Unique gear is the best gear that exists as it provides three things, the first is a percentage increase to the statistics chosen by the item."

She began to draw on the ground.

She drew an outline of a person and then she drew another set of things in the dirt.

Gloves, armor, boots, jewelry and a weapon.

"The second thing provided by unique gear would be effects that cannot be matched by any other gear."

She then looked him in the eye.

"Lastly unique gear has a set bonus like many of the rarer pieces of gear in this world."

Hello author here, I've been thinking about whether or not I should do what many authors do and have an in character lore dump via excerpts of a characters writings.

For example in the novel chrysalis the author does this very well by showing future writings about his characters and excerpts written from the perspective of their characters (y'all should check out that novel btw its great) so if I did that for my novel would it be a welcome addition? Let me know!
