Chapter 29: Class evolution

Chapter 29: Class evolution

It had been one hour since the announcement of the second quest, and as Coby had mentioned, this is going to be a hell of a journey, from the looks of it.

Dhruv had lost count of how many times he had opened the quest window, looking at the slowly ticking clock.

[Main Quest #02- Survive the Onslaught]

Description: After getting the role you excel in, Now is the time to use your role and survive the onslaught of monsters that will come out of the existing cracks in the near future.

Clear condition: Survive for three days.

Time limit: 3 Days

Reward: According to your performance.

Failure: .... ]

[Time left before the start of the second quest: 00:57:46]

So, according to the description of the quest, the monsters will pour out of the cracks. That means there must be two such cracks on this island; one that was in my room and another that the warden had found.

This time, the cosmos was generous enough to give us some time for preparation, which I welcomed with open hands as I myself had some things to prepare.

Despite the unrealness, it was true that in the next hour, the horror would begin—not that I am afraid of it or anything—it was just quite... fascinating. I wasn't afraid because of my pride, of course. This time, I've been preparing quite well. As for the past hour, I've been investing my coins slowly into my stats, increasing them bit by bit.

Why slowly-slowly? You would ask. And the answer was simple because I cannot increase my stats more than five levels at a time. And this was the exact reason why, despite having coins, I couldn't upgrade my stats while fighting the warden.

I cannot increase my stats, saying it would be unfair... as It's not blocking or stopping me from investing in it, but the reason was that suddenly increasing stats will put quite a burden on the body and it would do more harm than good. This I had learned the hard way.

One thing I noticed when investing my coins is that I can't give coins to the trio, as due to being monsters, they can't use coins for upgrading their stats... Forget about upgrading their stats; they can't use coins for anything. And that's why they don't even have access to the cosmic store for themselves.

This wouldn't pose any problem if they behaved as normal and asked me for anything they would need, which I could buy for them. But they were anything but normal and wouldn't ask for anything on their own. Even after telling them that it isn't an inconvenience for me to buy it, they refuse to do it. So in the end, I had to order them... which hurt a little... but I did it nonetheless, as this would increase the chance of their own survival.

After ordering, they finally found the courage to ask for a few things, and the first one was... obviously! Vexar, asking for another sword.

And the funny thing is, when I asked, what do you need a second sword for?

He looked at me like, Are you crazy?—not in the sense of disrespect, of course. And proceed to say who doesn't wa... n..need a second sword.

I understood what his motives were, but I didn't argue with this sword-loving bastard and bought him another one from the shop. And when he saw that I could just pop things from nowhere... he hurriedly asked for another one.

In the end, I have to buy him three swords, costing me 3000 CC. Now this bastard has four swords, two hanging from both sides of his waist. Remembering the look on his face when he hung all four of his swords on his waist, I knew it was all worth it. I couldn't even be mad at this little demon.

The other two weren't that crazy; Alaric asked me to buy him a sharp dagger, and Azarex's demand was for a magical scepter so he could channel his magic well. Those two items also cost me 3000 CC—1000 for the dagger and 2000 for the magical scepter.

I also bought one staff for myself, as it could help me cast spells faster and with much better accuracy—according to Azarex. All the items were of common rank without any enchantments. Maybe that was the reason for their cheap price.

As for some miscellaneous items, I bought some health and mana potions in case of a dire situation. I couldn't buy them before, despite being able to access the store, which is another thing that bothers me. After buying some more items that look like they could be useful, I close the shop.

With all the shopping done, I looked at probably the most important thing I have to do before diving into the second quest, and that was to evolve my class, which was left alone for quite some time.

[You have reached the limit of your current class, Do you want to evolve it]

[ Yes/ No ]

With a sense of accomplishment in his mind, he pressed the yes button.

[Congratulations on reaching the limit of your class! The evolution of the class will allow you to understand and perform it better.

WARNING! The exp you will earn from creatures with less evolved versions will decrease.

These are the options available for your class evolution

-Spearman (Common)

-Hunter (Common)

-Mass-Murderer (Uncommon)

-Spear-master (Uncommon)

-Adept Mage (Uncommon)

-Mirage lancer (Uncommon)

-Magic Warrior (Uncommon) ]

So, this time I have seven options. Compared to the six I got last time, it wasn't that much of an improvement, but that really wasn't the case. Because, this time, I got five uncommon level classes compared to the three I got last time.

[Spearman: A spearman is a skilled warrior who specializes in the art of combat with a spear. They possess exceptional proficiency in handling this versatile weapon, both for thrusting and throwing. Spear-men are known for their ability to maintain distance, deliver precise strikes, and provide effective defense against adversaries.

The skills <Thrust> and <Throw> are given, along with a bonus of 5 in agility.]

[Hunter:A hunter is a highly skilled individual who specializes in tracking and eliminating targets. With extensive knowledge of weapons, camouflage, and tracking techniques, they excel at locating and dispatching their prey with lethal precision.

The skills <Locate Prey> and <Track> are given, along with a strength bonus of 5.]

As expected, these two were the same as the last time, so I skipped over them without much thought.

Looking at the name of the third option, a frown appeared on my face... but when my gaze got to its description, a smile—creepy— appeared on my face.
