Chapter 64: Wheel of Fortune (1)
Chapter 64: Wheel of Fortune (1)
Anton bought the stealth ability; with the discount in place, the digital version cost him only 100 omega pointshalf of his fortune.
Apparently, those who got A+ on the trial got 200 omega points. Tanya, Michelle, and Anton were the only ones on this list.
"The digital version of the skill Shadow Stealth has been sent to your omega handler," Ryat announced.
Anton nodded, checking in. "I have a hundred more points to waste," Anton said as he scrolled the screen. "Let's see."
Only after a minute, Anton left the screen alone, saying. "I give up. The things I can afford there are garbage or things I don't need. Wrik, so you need something?"
"No, I have my hands full with the class," Wrik said. "Besides, I'm not sure about the skills."
"Do any of the ladies want anything?" The bald salesman asked with his iconic smile, looking at the three fair ladies.
"Yes," Tanya said as she searched with the keywords Ice element, spell, Fundamentals. But only scrolling for a few moments, she gave up. The items she could get with the points did not meet her requirements. She muttered. "Guess I have to leech off from big sis again."
Then she noticed the gazes of the other four on her and discovered she did not say that in her head. Tanya glared at her other companions with embarrassment. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
"Nothing," Wrik said. "I was just thinking you have a nice big sister."
"Well, of course," Tanya admitted. "Does anyone else need any skills or knowledge?"
Anton and Wrik shook their heads, while Byul asked the red-haired girl. "Michelle, do you want anything? I have 50 omega points. I know it's not a lot, but you already spent all your points on me."
"It's alright," Michelle said. "Didn't I mention my family is wealthy?" Then she paused, and asked hesitantly, "Wait, did I say something I'm not supposed to?"
"No, it's alright," Byul sighed. "It's just I couldn't do anything for you."
Michele pulled Byul into a hug. "You said it that's enough, Byul."
"Well, if the hugging-kissing is over. Let's move. What else is there to look for I don't think we can get anything useful, even with the discount?" Anton said.
But then two figures came onto the second floor, not from below but from the upper floor. Moreover, the two new faces were not foreign to them. The one in the front was the gentleman looking man, Aasan. He was dressed in a black shirt and trousers, with his handsome angular exterior, he looked quite dandy. While behind him was the same old mercenary man, Lamanbut he was not in his mercenary getup, wore a simple shirt and pants like everyone else with a leather overcoat, which surprisingly did not look strange.
These were the duo they had met in the trial, though there were a few others with them then, but now it appeared that their gang was disbanded.
The relationship between them was quite cordial. On one occasion, Wrik and others saved these two from a herd of Infectors, while Aasan returned the favour by helping Wrik dodged a bullet, literally.
But not everyone was on the positive side of the relation. Michelle gave a cold snort the moment she noticed the gentle-looking Aasan. She still held grudges against them.
While Wrik and Aasan exchanged a nod, acknowledging each other.
"You finished trying your luck?" Ryat said to the two newcomers. "Did you get anything interesting?"
Aasan shook his head. "It seems our luck is not on our side today," he said. "But it is not a totally wasting our points. We will be leaving then, good day to you all."
With another nod, the gentleman walked away from the store, while the middle-aged man followed with no words.
"Wait, luck? What are you talking about?" Anton asked towards the leaving figures, but Aasan and Laman already left as if they did not hear him call.
Getting no answer, Anton clicked his tongue.
"They were talking about the Wheel of fortune?" Ryat said, doing his job as the salesman. "Are you interested?"
"Wheel of fortune? Don't tell me it's a lottery-like thing?" Wrik asked, as his curiosity was raised.
"You guessed that right. It is another exclusive to the participants only. Cost exactly 100 omega points per draw. Oh, wait you guys have the discount so it's only 10 points for you, but a person can only pick twice." Ryat continued. "Care to try out your luck?"
"Before that, tell us about the fortune," Anton said. "It's not like we'll use our fortune to get some garbage.''
"Well, of course. You can get anything from the wheel, it all depends on your luck. Skills, Omega ability, Potions, artifacts to the useless garbage all depend on your luck." The Salesman said, "It is warranted that you have 50% possibility of picking something that is worth over 100 points. 10% possibility of getting something worth over 1000 points, and 1% chance to get something worth over 10000 points.
"Are you interested now?"
"Wrik, what do you think?" Anton asked Wrik. The enthusiasm in his voice indicated he wanted to try.
"It's your money, Ton." Wrik smiled. "But if you want my opinion, then I think it does not sound so bad. Let's try it out for once."
"You heard it," Anton eyed the bald salesman. "So where is this wheel?"
"Come with me, it's on the second floor."
Ryat brought the five of them to the second floor. The second floor was as vacant as the first. Apart from a few instruments and screens, there was nothing else, while the limelights were still lit. Ryat brought them in front of a giant looking instrument with an image of a wheel in it. There were weird runic patterns inscribed on the equipment, not anything Wrik or the others recognised.
"Put your arm against the centre of the wheel, and infuse it with maha mana," Ryat instructed. "Before that, make sure to pay the fee."
"I'll go first," Anton said as he went to check his luck first. After making the payment, Anton put his arm at the wheel and did what Ryat instructed as the wheel started to spin. ''Let's see what I get.``
The process did not require much time to wait. After a dozen seconds, the wheel finally stopped as an image of a bell appeared on the screen with the text: [Congratulations, You have won a Bell]
A small golden bell appeared in the venting as Anton shouted, inspecting the article, "What the hell! This is just an ordinary bell."
"Don't you get it?" The redhead laughed, mocking Anton. "Your Luck can only bring garbage."
Anton snorted at the Redhead. He threw the bell at Wrik, saying, "Catch it, Kathrin might like it ."
Wrik took the tiny bell. After scrutinising for a moment, he found nothing extraordinary about it. "Guess, it's Kathrin's now."
While Anton gave the wheel another try. "I'll get an artifact for sure this time."
The Wheel spun again. This time it was faster than before. Looks like Anton put in a lot more Mana than it needed.
"Putting in extra mana won't bring you any good luck," Michelle did not forget to taunt Anton.
"Shut up, Flame girl," Anton said while his entire attention was on the wheel of fortune.
[Congratulations. You have won an Artifact: Swift Boot.]
