Chapter 30: The ever mysterious Wang Ling
Chapter 30: The ever mysterious Wang Ling
Chang Ping, was the name of the girl and the second princess of the Piercing Heaven Empire. She had seen many masters of the sword since she was a child, but none of them could compare to Wang Ling.
Movement like flowing water, domineering yet graceful, and chaotic yet tranquil. This is the sword of Wang Ling. She could not see through it all but she was able to catch a glimpse of his sword mastery in this single incident.
[How can he be so good at using the sword? Didn't they say he spent only a few days practicing the sword?
But if that is truly the case then this First Young Master of the Wang family is a true dragon among men.]
Wang Ling was vaguely aware of the praises he was getting. Although he didn't know what the girl he had saved was telling him, Wang Ling was still aware nonetheless.
He showed his swordsmanship because he had to not because he wanted to show off. He wanted to save the girl so he did what had to be done. Either way it wasn't so much of a hassle and this won't cause him to face with a backlash.
There are many geniuses in the realm who could have done what he had just did. One might not necessarily be in the Piercing Heaven Empire, but they do exist. Wang Ling was basically just showing that he has the same capabilities of geniuses.
Wang Ling continued killing and Chang Ping who had would become a burden if she dare move sat on the spot she was on and watched Wang Ling's 'performance. Soon, Wang Ling stopped his blade for an instant.
He stood in front of two Demon Blood Hounds. He smiled and the two savage beast looked at him with fear. This human in front of them was too fierce, too ferocious, and too strong.
They felt fear instinctively as they looked at Wang Ling.
[My body has been enhance by many folds. Killing pinnacle-sky root stage enemy is an easy task for the current me.]
Wang Ling moved and roused his newly acquired bloodline as he wanted to see how it will affect his prowess. Wang Ling who was already tyrannical to begin with felt that his body was surging with power.
He stepped forth and the ground beneath his feet started forming web-like cracks.
Boom!
The ground exploded and Wang Ling disappeared from sight. His sword moved like lighting that could lacerate the world and descended on the two Demon Blood Hounds neck.
The necks of the two savage beasts were cleanly cut by Wang Ling before they could realize what had happened. Wang Ling's strength and speed increased after initiating his True Devil Warrior bloodline.
[This bloodline is even better than I thought.]
This bloodline of his can supplement his still weak cultivation. If he tries to fight seriously and ignited his bloodline to the limit Wang Ling was sure that he will be able to hold his ground against an early-energy palace cultivator.
[This is good, but I need to make sure that my foundation is strong so when I ignite my bloodline I'll won't suffer from any strong backlash.]
Bloodlines were considered as a double-edged sword. Although it can enhance the speed of one's cultivation, augment strength for a period of time, and change the body for the better. There were also downsides on using a bloodline, like the weakened state after the bloodline ignition is over.
Wang Ling wanted to avoid getting too weak if he ever does a bloodline ignition so he must strengthen his body to terrifying extent. As for his foundation, hehe, that's something he does not to worry about.
With the help of Overturning Nine Heaven Art his foundation will not be shaken by a mere bloodline ignition. His foundation is meant to be strongest, it is sturdy and will not be destroyed through ordinary means.
[This Overturning Nine Heaven Art is simply something that can be treated as a cheat. Other than bodily fatigue, my cultivation won't weaken.]
Wang Ling was thinking all of this whilst killing the Demon Blood Hounds that came his way. Soon enough, the Demon Blood Hounds in the area were hunted down to the very last member by Wang Ling.
The boy who was also battling with a Demon Blood Hound was left speechless after seeing the scene of carnage Wang Ling had caused. He was also fighting with his on the line but he only managed to kill two Demon Blood Hounds.
But the first Young Master of the managed to slay nearly twice of what he killed. There were twenty-one Demon Blood Hounds, he killed two of them so this First Young Master managed to slay a total of nineteen Demon Blood Hounds that had higher cultivation base.
"How brilliant, princess Chang Ping, I thought that he was supposed to be someone who only trained in the sword for a couple of days? How can his swordsmanship be so strong?"
The boy questioned the princess and Chang Ping only looked at him with eyes filled with question. Even she didn't know how this person could accomplish such a feat.
"Maybe he's just too much of a genius that managed to master the sword in those short few weeks."
She gave an answer that is more of a conjecture than a fact. Chang Ping was also unsure how Wang Ling was so strong, but at least she now knew that this person in front of her is not normal in any way.
Wang Ling exhaled and then took note that the two youth was out of danger. Handling the sword with care and placing it on top of his lap as he sat down. Wang Ling started watching the fight going on from afar.
In front of him was a fight of energy palace stage fighters. One was a human while the other a beast.
Boom!
A light explosion occurred as Chang Yun ruthlessly smashed his halberd against the Demon Blood Hound King. Chang Yun's halberd became tyrannical as fight went on, it was as if every swing made it hotter.
The red halberd began to exude a bright red light. Overbearing heat waves started to seep out of the halberd. Every swing seemed to empower the halberd more and more and just he made another swing, the halberd seemed to have gained enough strength and began flaring up.
Swoosh!
Flames erupted from the halberd. The halberd on Chang Yun's hands gain new coating of flames. The heat began to rise and Wang Ling who was by the side watching raised his eyebrows as if he had seen something interesting.
Chang Yun moved away to get some distance and then crouched on the ground. He lowered his body while holding the burning halberd with no problem whatsoever with both his hands.
"Inferno Halberd Arts, First Stance: Devouring Flames!" Chang Yun's spirit qi burst out of his body and a massive heatwave erupted. It was clear that his spirit qi was not normal and contains the essence of flames.
Foo!
Chang Yun disappeared from sight and the bright flames disappeared as well. The Demon Blood Hound King started looking for Chang Yun but it failed to do so, as it was looking for its enemy a massive towering flame descended from above.
The Demon Blood Hound King raised its head only to Chang Yun was there floating in the sky with a tower of flame at his command.
"DIE!" Chang Yun roared as the tower of flames continued its descent. Wave after wave of scary flames appeared and soon reached the target it was given.
Bang!
The Demon Blood Hound King was made to bathe in sea of flames. It was mercilessly entrapped from the outside world and was made to burn until it died. Before its death clear cries of pain and agony rang across the entire YinYang Forest but it could do nothing but meet its end as time passed.
Shii!
The sound of flesh being burned to a crisp faded as together with the pitiful cries of the e Demon Blood Hound King. Wang Ling who was watching was rather intrigued at the method Chang Yun had used to slay his enemy.
[He slowly made exhaust its strength whilst charging his artifact. He then finished his opponent off with a killing strike with all his force.]
Wang Ling was unsure how many qi pillars Chang Yun had to expend. But considering that he looked calm and was only a little bit tired. Chang Yun must have only used two to three of his qi pillars.
Chang Yun who had finished his own fight was just about to rush towards Wang Ling and the others so he lend them a hand. But his worry turned to shock almost instantly after seeing that Wang Ling was actually leisurely watching his fight from afar.
His mouth was left open for a few good seconds. He managed to regain his composure soon after that and quickly made his way towards Wang Ling and the others.
He stood in front of Wang Ling who was sitting calmly on the ground. He looked around the scene of blood and gore that had been made and couldn't help but look at Chang Ping and the boy who was with her.
No question was needed to be uttered as his eyes tells the confusion everyone needed to know. Chang Ping who felt his brother's gaze shook her head as if saying: "It wasn't us." Before turning to look at Wang Ling.
Chang Ping turned to look at Wang Ling and the other party did the same. Wang Ling then passed the sword he was using to Chang Ping before saying.
"Thank you for lending me a sword. You can take it back now, here." Wang Ling lazily gave it back to Chang Yun hands and the sword suddenly made a saddened hum as if it didn't want to return to Chang Yung's hand.
Chang Yun looked at the carefree Wang Ling and couldn't help himself and asked.
"Young Master Ling, did you kill those Demon Blood Hounds?"
"Yes, but not all of them were killed by me. That boy over there also killed two of the Demon Blood Hounds." Wang Ling said as his attention was caught by the fight between the Azure Condor and the Demon Blood Hound King.
Chang Ping was left speechless with how Wang Ling was saying his way of slaughtering over a dozen Demon Blood Hounds as if it was nothing. Wang Ling was a mere early-sky root stage cultivator, so how come he's so strong?
The pinnacle-sky root stage savage beasts were actually beaten by someone who's at early-sky root stage of foundation phase. What's more is that his way of speaking about it made it seem that his actions were nothing to be proud of.
Wang Ling was in no way trying to act arrogant and only spoke what is the truth. He might be slightly aware of it in the back of his head, but at the moment it was something he didn't really thought through.
[This Azure Condor is not too bad should I get a beast companion?
Wang Hong have one and it seems like he tamed it from the wild. Should I hunt and tame one for my future cultivation? Cultivating while in the back of beast is a good idea as I can't really cultivate when I'm moving around.
Alright, that should be my next move then.]
Wang Ling just made a decision based on watching two beasts fight. He had thought it through and decided that having an aerial-type beast is a good thing.
If he can get a beast with some kind of ancient bloodline, then that would be something worth cultivating. If by some chance that he really gets one in the future, he will be able to get a new form of transport and some sort of weapon that can improve.
[Mhm, good thing I thought about this.] a smile emerged from Wang Ling's face.
The Azure Condor soon finished its battle. It returned to Chang Yun's side. Caressing the Azure Condor's feathers with great care, the Azure Condor felt lively and let out a screech. "Scaaa!"
Chang Yun went ahead and mounted the Azure Condor together with Wang Ling. His eyes then swept against Chang Ping and the boy before saying:
"Get on the Azure Condor's back already." The two youths did as what they were told and all four of them left that place as soon as they could.
The travel towards the Piercing Heaven Empire was a silent one. No one really spoke but Wang Ling could feel a passionate and revering gaze burning him from behind.
Wang Ling didn't pay this revering gaze and attention and silently went ahead to cultivate.
As time passed, Wang Ling who was cultivating in silence heard Chang Yun's voice.
"Young Master Ling, we have arrived to the Piercing Heaven Empire's Capital City, Ascension City."
Wang Ling looked into the horizon and saw a magnificent and beautiful city coming into view. Nodding his head, he silently thought
[So Wang Shu Qing, my Father is in this place?]

Footnotes for (Current) Cultivation Phases:
Qi Pillars: the 'storage' of all kind of qi that the cultivator cultivates. Example is the MC's hellish qi and his supreme spirit qi.
Spirit Ocean: the gathering of spirit qi that enriches ones cultivation. (The uses of the Spirit Ocean is going to be mentioned in later chapters).
[Lighting of the nine qi pillars]: qi pillars in this novel is the very start of cultivation. One has to light up or activate their nine qi pillars before they can cultivate spirit qi. However, one has to take note that lighting up all nine qi pillars does not equate to having the ability to use spirit qi in battle, because the main goal of lighting up the qi pillars is to have a 'storage' for spirit qi in the future.
[Foundation Phase]: it consists of three stages and these stages are: [Earth Root Stage], [Sky Root Stage], and [Energy Palace Stage].
Earth Root Stage: the cultivator will have the ability to properly utilize spirit qi or any form of qi they cultivate in a fight or in something else.
Sky Root Stage: It is basically the enhance version of Earth Root Stage.
Energy Palace Stage and beyond is still a secret. I have yet to cover it in the novel after all.
another note: mass releases will depend on the ranking.
