Chapter 39 Lost License? REVENGE!
Lizzy tried to get the Mandrake anyway.
They approached the Resource counter, hopeful.
But as expected: "Sorry, but your Alchemist License is being suspended. You won't have access to the Alchemists' Shop in the meantime. Please check with the Registrar's Office!"
"That's it... I'm DOOMED!" It wasn't just her license that was getting revoked. It was her entire life's efforts that were going down the drain! But she wasn't the only victim:
"We better make them regret the day they slighted you!" Jack was out for blood!
"GULP! What are you gonna do?!"
What could he do?! The Draft Notice came from the Dawn Guard. Did he even have sway with them? Rules were rules, and she had unknowingly broken them!
The ghost was equally doubtful: "Psst, kid, even the Alchemy Tower hates her guts. The way I see it, she's screwed. We're better off search—"
"As if! We don't abandon allies, not now or ever!"
"Thanks… but I'm really doomed. You should—"
"Shut up and follow me!"
Jack didn't even let her place a word. So what if there was a storm heading their way? They'd whether it like a faction was supposed to, by creating a tornado of their own!
She expected him to stomp toward the Registrar angrily, but he didn't. Even he knew that they'd simply be putting themselves up for more humiliation.
They'd question: 1) The lack of proof of sabotage, 2) Lizzy's character, 3) Perhaps even her skills as a "proper" alchemist. March in there only to be shown the door? Hell no!
"Let's go! Time to start a revolution…." Jack mysteriously uttered.
He brought her back to her shop and then asked so many questions about Alchemy that her brain almost exploded. Yet, the more she talked, the deeper his grin became.
"Just like I thought, this is definitely possible! Time to have those stuck-up Alchemy Masters beg to give you back your Alchemy License!"
Before long, Lizzy saw a scene that chilled her to her very core. Right in her lab, dozens of foxes were assembled. What was scary wasn't their appearance but their cohesion.
They were all neatly lined up as if soldiers!
Jack strode before them as if a general.
"Troops, someone's trying to mess with us. What do we do when that happens?" Woo! "Do we roll down and die or do we bite their head and devour their flesh?" WOO! "EXACTLY!"
"Today will be the day our Demonic Legion resurfaces for the first time! Are you all ready?" Woo! "But we'll have to be lightning quick. So many powers are hunting us!"
"Lizzy, bring out the goods!"
D-demonic Legion?! But she was too deep to turn back. She brought back the things he had asked her for, her entire body quivering like a leaf in the wind. All this was DEMONIC!
He had asked her to create the scariest potions she could ever come up with. As for the materials? She had used some of the stuff they had grabbed from the Underground.
"Now, listen up, and listen well…."
Jack began laying out the details of his revenge plan. He could think of countless ways to prove Lizzy's innocence… but as they say: offense is the best defense!
The more Lizzy heard, the more she swore never to offend Jack. He was going that far… against people that had never offended him directly?!
She suddenly started wondering who was more doomed between herself and the Alchemy Tower…

That day started as any other day.
Even now, plenty of Undercover Dawn Guards patrolled the streets, especially any core locations and targets that the Demonic Legion had previously hit.
"Say, why are we even here? This place already got hit. Why would they ever come back?" a soldier asked skeptically.
"Dummy, haven't you ever heard the saying: 'A criminal always comes back to the scene of the crime?' We just need to stand guard, and then BAM, we apprehend them!"
This actually made a lot of sense. Or it would have had the "criminals" not been silly-thinking foxes that only cared about pleasing their Master and playing.
Why would they go to a crime scene to play? They weren't that bored! Yet, the guards were convinced it was going to pay off! But just as they were waiting…
"EMERGENCY! They've been spotted!"
"Where?! When?!"
As soon as the news came out, tons of Guards rushed out! Except, they couldn't help but find it strange. What the heck was up with those sightings?!
They were all in random spots, void of any strategic value whatsoever! But as they reached their targets, they became even more confused.
"They're gone…. How the fuck?!"
The guards had reacted as quickly as humanly possible, but they were too late?! What was up with that?! There had been hundreds of sighing reports?! Now… none?! WTF!
But that wasn't the worst. They felt sick to their stomachs as they realized no damage had been done either. Such massive troop mobilization for no reason? Impossible!
What could have possibly happened here?! Ignorance and their own imagination drove their minds utterly mad.
Either this was meant to scare them, or they were missing something big! The latter was incredibly more likely too! It was soon put up to vote, even the Dawn Lords chiming in.
They HAD to know. They just had to! What should have been a regular day in Dawn City soon had soldiers combing through the entire place like hounds!
D.L. Sighting Nearby? —> Search EVERYTHING!
As for people getting their residences invaded…
"Are they really going to violate our rights like that?!"
"Damn, what if it was all a plan from D.L. to create public unrest?!"
"Bro, I don't think a terrorist organization is that subtle. Let them search as much as they want! Besides, do you have anything to hide? They won't care about the small stuff."
Everyone watched this happen with interest. But just when it seemed like nothing at all would turn up, a bunch of Alchemy Shops suddenly became the center of attention.
It started with the Dawn Guard finding traces of restricted ingredients.
"Chief! Look at that. This thing's only sold by the Underground!"
"There's some here too! There's not much… but someone's been moving illegal merchandise here! It's just like during our previous raid!"
"Oh my god, Boss, I've got it! Look a the map! The D.L. sightings are near Alchemy Shops! We stocked up on potions… and so did they! It's all crazy poisonous stuff too!"
As for the poor Alchemists who owned the shops, they felt like the sky had suddenly fallen. "I swear, I never saw any of this stuff before! It's not me; I don't know anything!"
But the more they swore, the shadier they looked. Not seen any of it? These were their shops, was it not? The gazes sent their way turned increasingly icier.
Had they willingly cooperated with D.L. out of greed? Or had they been threatened? If handled poorly, the situation could blow up in everyone's faces!
Not only that… but all were Licensed Alchemists! Suddenly, the Alchemy Tower had one Hell of a scandal on its hands! Except, this was only the beginning…
