Cornered by the CEO

Chapter 183: The Decision Has Been Made

Chapter 183: The Decision Has Been Made

He looked like what others could call unhinged.

B1 spoke up finally. "I am sorry, I did not come here to watch a drama. Miss Yun has displayed horrible behavior in a board meeting." He even glared at Qian Meng as he spoke.

"I agree with you," Bai Ye Qing chimed in with a note of relief. "I will follow you."

Qian Meng's voice hardened instantly. "Sit down," she said calmly. "The moment Director Bai leaves this room his termination will be finalized. Let's not forget his abhorrent and violent actions either. An external audit team will do a full investigation on the contracts signed since he came into office." It wasn't a threat. It was a promise.

B1 stood still. He could hear exactly what she meant. The minute he left the room, his contract with the company would be shredded. He would never be able to do business with hostile partners and rumors floating.

He just didn't know that Yun Qian Meng would make sure that happened anyways.

"You have no right," Bai Ye Qing started but Mr. Bai cut him off.

He coughed to bring everyone to attention. "Apologies to everyone. I should have announced this before the meeting began. According to the mass email sent to all of you, you know that apart from the dismissal motion, there was an announcement that I wanted to make."

Bai Ye Qing looked surprised.

"I understand that it comes as a surprise to all of you, but I am no longer fit to be the majority shareholder who can run the business and take it to new heights. Seeing that my son has been accused of some very serious crimes, I took the opportunity to sell most of my shares to Miss Yun."

There were gasps and protests.

"How could you—" Bai Ye Qing started to speak and then he stopped. He seemed to realize what business his father had gone to discuss with Yun Qian Meng the day he signed that hideous agreement with her.

While people slung mud at him, his father had teamed up with the women who ruined him for a petty amount of money. Money that rightfully belonged to him and not the cheap whore.

"As per my discussions with Miss Yun, I realized that under her supervision and initiative, the problems within our company could be resolved. The glass ceiling we are currently stuck at can be shattered. An experienced businesswoman like Miss Yun can take your profits and end-of-year bonuses to a new height," he explained. "At the same time, I will hold the right to sit in on meetings. As a courtesy."

Actually, there was no need to explain why he sold the company. But these shareholders were those that saw the company through its ups and downs. Most of them had been his friends from youth and partners in business for a long time. They probably knew that he had wanted to resign and only stayed on because of his eldest son's death.

Most of them understood.

"Old Bai! Have you lost your mind? Giving the reins of your company to a little girl?" someone spoke. Qian Meng made a note of them.

She didn't say anything superficial to make them understand either. When they saw how she changed and got a fat cheque at the end of the year, they wouldn't be moaning and groaning about who was at the top. Instead, they would be praising her.

"As a majority shareholder, I could dismiss Director Bai immediately and charge him with a number of financial crimes, but I respect the people who have been pillars of this company since its infancy," she said slowly. "There is no need to fuss. I will patiently wait for your decisions."

She leaned back into her chair and crossed one foot over the other. She watched with rapt attention as the attendants heatedly discussed the next course of their action.

Some wondered if there was an adverse effect of voting opposite of what the new majority shareholder wanted. Others wanted to know if they could leave the room without voting.

Qian Meng didn't want to help them in their dilemma in any way, so she watched the show unfold.

Across from her, towards the head of the table, Bai Yu had a similar expression of serenity.

It looked like results from the years of his work were now in front of him. He looked desolate and at peace at the same time. His work was over. He could finally retire.

With only this small number of shares left in the company, he could enjoy a leisure life, watch theatre, fish, play chess, and go on luxury cruises for the rest of his old age. Wasn't that a good thing?

Bai Yu wasn't sure himself. He looked at his fuming son and found the young man glaring at Qian Meng and him. He felt a frown tug at his lips but shook the thought away.

He couldn't let himself believe that his son held such malice.

He closed his eyes when the commission quietened down. Finally, the speaker took control.

"Are we ready to vote on the motion?" he asked, looking around the room. Everyone sat down, including Bai Ye Qing. He still had hope that people would rebel and take his side. He still didn't understand that Qian Meng had put a bell around each person's neck. She would know exactly what action to take in response to those made by the people in the room.

They knew they were walking on eggshells, only Bai Ye Qing seemed unable to understand this.

The votes trickled in and his face grew gloomier.

"Chairman Bai, the decision has been made," the speaker relayed the message. From the beginning until the end of the vote, Bai Yu didn't open his eyes. He didn't want to see.

"Announce it." That was all he said.

Yun Qian Meng looked at Bai Yu and felt pity blooming in her heart. How was this man going to live in his own home from now on? He was no longer the sitting chairman. He was supposed to be lazy and do what he wanted.
