Chapter 34
C34 – Blood Burning Great Arts
This sensation was peculiar. The Nether Clan Martial Artist knew it was impossible, yet an inexplicable force within him compelled him to believe wholeheartedly.
Moreover, if this young man were to divulge all nine thousand vulnerabilities of the Nether Clan, every martial artist in South Sun County would become privy to them. The greater fear was that once this information leaked from South Sun County, it would spread to the entire Fire Crow Country and eventually the whole continent.
At that point, the Nether Clan’s invasion would lose its edge, potentially leaving them at a disadvantage.
“Kill him!” bellowed the stranger, resolute in his decision to eliminate Qiao Mao. The face above his head twisted into something grotesque.
Once the Nether Clan Martial Artist was free from the human host, his presence intensified, becoming alarmingly formidable. The vicious power that brewed within the black fog sent shivers down the spines of those who felt it.
In response, Qiao Mao quickly channeled his internal power and ingested another Spirit Explosion Pill. His energy surged, fostering immense strength within him.
The Spirit Explosion Pill could boost a martial artist’s power temporarily but at a significant cost to their well-being. Typically, Qiao Mao would limit himself to one pill per day.
However, harboring no fondness for the Nether Clan and with a resolve to annihilate them, Qiao Mao cast aside his concerns. After all, he could later use a medicinal concoction to recuperate.
While this might pose a challenge for most, Qiao Mao’s Previous Life as the Spirit Flame Great Master meant that healing his body was a trivial matter.
The two combatants unleashed their full might, clashing fiercely. The fight was exceptionally brutal, as both were driven by a kill-or-be-killed mentality.
Qiao Mao executed the Wind Thunder Palm, meeting the Nether Clan Martial Artist head-on. Both staggered backward from the impact, each appearing somewhat disheveled.
Having shed his human shell, the Nether Clan Martial Artist’s battle prowess had amplified. Already on par with a Mortality Transcending Level Eight Heaven warrior, his strength was formidable.
Yet Qiao Mao was no less formidable. Drawing on the experience of two lifetimes and the power of two Spirit Explosion Pills, he held his ground.
Qiao Shen effortlessly overpowered his opponent. He then quickly and covertly identified the weaknesses of the other Nether Clan Martial Artists, swiftly eliminating them.
The remaining guards were petrified and dared not encircle Qiao Shen.
Among these guards were traitors from the Qiao family as well as members of the Qin family. The majority had been slain, leaving only a few who posed no significant threat. Consequently, Qiao Shen refrained from attacking them for the time being.
Holding Qiao Shuang in his arms, Qiao Shen watched Mao fight. He was about to lend a hand to Mao when he suddenly felt a draining sensation within him. Clearly, having just recovered and endured a fierce battle, his strength was now at its limit.
“Mao,” Qiao Shen whispered under his breath. His heart raced with worry, yet he was powerless to assist. A faint smile soon crossed his face, though.
Even though Qiao Shen was unaware of what had enhanced Mao’s strength, he could clearly see Mao’s vast combat experience. Given the current circumstances, Mao was virtually invincible.
The Nether Clan Martial Artist locked in combat with Mao wore a look of deep resentment. Despite his numerous attempts to strike Mao, he had barely managed to inflict any damage. Moreover, Mao was aware of his vulnerability. A single moment of negligence would surely lead to his demise at Mao’s hands.
“Demon Qi Swallow the Heavens!”
The Nether Clan Martial Artist bellowed as he dragged along the body of an unknown man, unleashing a formidable attack. Simultaneously, he morphed into a swirling black fog, charging at Mao.
“Mao, watch out!” Qiao Shen exclaimed, sensing the perilous force within the black fog. Even he, at Mortality Transcending Level Eight Heaven, couldn’t withstand such an assault.
Mao quickly gathered his attack and seized Qiao Hou’s body, which had long been lifeless. With a surge of power in his grasp, he detonated Qiao Hou’s remains, extracting a sphere of Blood Essence.
The Blood Essence glowed a deep crimson, roughly the size of a fist. Mao held it firmly, his hands moving rhythmically as the blood smeared across his fingers.
As the Nether Clan Martial Artist observed Qiao Mao preparing to unleash Blood Killing once more, his expression chilled. Swirling black fog enveloped him as he employed a secret technique to shift his vulnerability. With a mocking laugh, he said, “Even if you’ve discovered my weakness, Blood Killing won’t be the end of me.”
“Really? If Blood Killing is ineffective, I’ll just find another way,” Qiao Mao retorted, his fingers dancing through the air. The blood from his fingertips rapidly sketched a vast, circular pattern that exuded an eerie aura.
The Nether Clan Martial Artist, catching sight of the sinister blood-red circle, let out a derisive chuckle. “You seriously think you can use the Blood Burning Great Arts against me? That’s laughable! Aren’t you aware that only a Spirit Flame Master can wield the Blood Burning Great Arts?”
The Blood Burning Great Arts were devastating to the Nether Clan, and this technique worked against both lower and higher echelons of their ranks. It was one of the key strategies for subduing the Nether Clan.
Yet, the Blood Burning Great Arts required the ignition of a Spirit Flame Master’s internal spirit flame to burn the blood and activate the power, rendering it unusable by the average person. This was a technique exclusive to the Spirit Flame Great Master.
“It appears your earlier threats were nothing more than empty posturing, hardly a concern,” the Nether Clan Martial Artist said, shaking his head dismissively. Although Qiao Mao was familiar with the Blood Burning Great Arts, he seemed unaware that only a Spirit Flame Master could activate them. Clearly, his understanding was superficial.
As a result, the Nether Clan Martial Artist didn’t take Qiao Mao’s knowledge of the Nether Clan’s vulnerabilities and countermeasures seriously. He believed Qiao Mao’s grasp of the secrets to subdue the Nether Clan was limited at best.
Reflecting on this, even as a member of the Nether Clan, he knew of their nine thousand weaknesses but couldn’t possibly pinpoint each one’s exact location. And here was Qiao Mao, merely a youth, who surely couldn’t surpass his own understanding of the Nether Clan.
Upon his arrival in Martial Sun City, he had conducted his research. There wasn’t a single Spirit Flame Master throughout the city, and the pills used for cultivation were merely inferior products sourced from South Sun County City.
In Martial Sun City, there were scarcely any individuals who posed a threat to the Nether Clan. One might say they were virtually nonexistent.
“Is the activation of the Spirit Flame necessary for the Blood Burning Great Arts?” Qiao Mao inquired, his voice laced with a hint of amusement.
“Yes, and to my knowledge, you are not a Spirit Flame Master, so you cannot utilize the Blood Burning Great Arts,” the Nether Clan Martial Artist stated emphatically, as the black fog rolled in once more.
Qiao Mao manipulated the blood-colored pattern with his hands. Only when the Nether Clan Martial Artist propelled the black fog closer did he speak in a calm tone, “Then what would you call this?”
A tuft of flame materialized on Qiao Mao’s right hand. It radiated an intense heat that flickered erratically in the breeze. With the infusion of Spiritual Energy, the flame in his palm blazed into a ferocious inferno.
“This is the Spirit Flame. How can this be?” The Nether Clan Martial Artist’s face contorted with sheer terror. He had thoroughly investigated everyone in Martial Sun City and even scoured several nearby smaller cities, never encountering a Spirit Flame Master.
He had paid particular attention to Qiao Mao, Qiao Shen, and their associates during his investigations. He was certain that none of them had been Spirit Flame Masters previously.
Yet now, the blazing fire in Qiao Mao’s hand was unmistakably a manifestation of the Spirit Flame, leaving him utterly astounded.
