Chapter 37
C37 – Qin Hu’s Strength!
The Qin family boasted three individuals who had attained the rank of Martial Dao Great Master or higher. These were Qin Hu, Qin Zhiri, and a senior elder.
Apart from Qin Hu, both Qin Zhiri and the elder had fallen at the hands of Qiao Mao. This dealt a significant blow to the Qin family’s might, stripping them of their former splendor.
At present, the Qin family found themselves at their most vulnerable. An attack now would yield maximum results with minimal effort. Moreover, they could accomplish their mission without depleting much of their combat strength.
The Qin family was, after all, one of the Three Great Overlords of Martial Sun City. Their power was formidable. Without their total annihilation, there was no telling what Qin Hu might do in retaliation.
Qiao Mao breathed a sigh of relief once he had the agreement of the two men. He requested additional medicinal herbs from the Zhang family to hasten his recovery.
Typically, after consuming two Spirit Explosion Pills in succession, a person would need at least three days of rest before they could wield martial power again. However, for Qiao Mao, a former Spirit Flame Great Master, recovery was a matter of mere minutes.
Having received two sets of restorative herbs, Qiao Mao used one for himself and gave the other to the frail Qiao Shen.
Qiao Mao managed to refine the healing Spirit Pills and fully recuperate in just four hours, restoring his strength to its peak. Subsequently, he joined forces with Zhang Tianbei and Qiao Shen, leading the Zhang family’s Black Shadow Guard Team toward the Qin family’s stronghold.
Zhen Gui and Zhang Yu remained at the Zhang family estate to safeguard it against unforeseen events. They stood ready to back up Qiao Mao and his team at a moment’s notice.
Qiao Mao, at the forefront, carved a path through the center with the Black Shadow Guard Team. Zhang Tianbei and Qiao Shen kept a vigilant watch on either side. Should they encounter any Qin family scouts, they were to eliminate them immediately.
The once tranquil night was disrupted by the arrival of the cavalry, marking the start of an inevitably restless evening.
As Qiao Mao and the Black Shadow Guard Team made their entrance into the Qin family’s domain, the household guards were thrown into utter disarray.
One of the Qin family’s guards hurriedly dashed into the estate.
Before the guard had gotten far, he was struck in the back by a Spiritual Energy Arrow. He exploded into a cloud of blood mist, leaving no remains behind.
Qiao Mao commanded, “Kill!” He soared into the air from his warhorse, wielding the Profound Iron Bow, and relentlessly fired Spiritual Energy Arrows at the Qin family’s guards.
No matter how the Qin family’s guards attempted to flee, they could not evade the incoming arrows.
It was as if Qiao Mao had anticipated their every move, his arrows finding their mark with deadly precision.
Zhang Tianbei witnessed Qiao Mao’s assault for the first time and was utterly astounded. He had no idea how Qiao Mao managed such a feat and found it profoundly unsettling.
Having lived for over two centuries and survived countless battles, Qiao Mao’s gaze was merciless. He could deduce his enemies’ blind spots from their subtle movements and shifts in their blood flow, making it effortless for him to strike them down with his arrows.
Meanwhile, the Black Shadow Guard Team charged into the fray, engaging in combat. With no Martial Dao Great Masters to oppose them, the Black Shadow Guard Team easily dispatched their foes.
At the onset of the battle, the Qin family’s guards were swiftly decimated.
One of the Qin family’s guards, bloodied and battered, burst into a room deep within the estate. Crashing through the door, he gasped out, “Report! Qiao Mao has arrived.”
“Qiao Mao is here?” Qin Hu exclaimed, taken aback by the unexpected news.
Qin Hu wondered, “Didn’t I send people to kill Qiao Mao? How has he come to attack us instead?”
“Rally the guards and encircle Qiao Mao!” Qin Hu bellowed, his voice booming through the mansion like thunder.
But the only response to Qin Hu’s command was a chilling arrow. Then, Qiao Mao materialized before him, a cold smirk on his face. “No need to summon your guards. All of the Qin family’s guards are dead.”
With a sneer, Qin Hu retorted, “Do you really think you can breach the Qin family’s defenses alone? Can you exterminate every last one of us?”
“If we were his allies, could he have managed this?” Qiao Shen and Zhang Tianbei suddenly appeared on either side of Qiao Mao.
Qin Hu was taken aback by their sudden appearance, his mind reeling. “How is Zhang Tianbei here?” he wondered.
But what truly astonished Qin Hu was the presence of Qiao Shen. Hadn’t he dispatched people to keep an eye on Qiao Shen’s Mansion in collaboration with Qiao Hou, secretly plotting their next move?
Besides, aside from the Martial Dao Great Master he had sent, Qiao Hou and the subordinates of that particular lord were supposed to be safeguarding the mansion. With such formidable individuals on guard, failure seemed improbable.
Noticing Qin Hu’s bewilderment, Zhang Tianbei offered a serene smile and said, “Qin Hu, stop puzzling over it. The guards at Qiao Shen’s Mansion have already been eradicated by my nephew Qiao Mao.”
“He wiped them all out? I don’t buy it!” Qin Hu scoffed. “By your logic, I’m the last one standing in the Qin family. You’re letting your imaginations run wild.”
He couldn’t fathom the idea that four Martial Dao Great Masters and two Mortality Transcending Level Eight Heaven experts could be so easily defeated.
Qiao Shen stepped forward, his face stern, as his aura burst forth. He declared, “Qin Hu, my presence here is proof enough that your and Qiao Guang’s machinations have been uncovered.”
Qin Hu’s expression darkened. At that moment, Zhang Tianbei had been afflicted with the Black Jade Purple Yin Poison, teetering on the brink of death.
Having deployed the Black Jade Purple Yin Poison himself, he was acutely aware of its potency.
Yet, there stood Qiao Shen, not only alive but with his cultivation and aura at their zenith. This confirmed the truth of Qiao Shen’s words. Qin Hu’s spirits plummeted, his face twisting into a malevolent scowl.
“Qiao Shen, you’re signing your own death warrant,” Qin Hu hissed through clenched teeth. The Qin Family had been illustrious, but now he was its sole survivor.
“It’s you who’s seeking death. You and Qiao Guang dared to commit such vile acts!” Qiao Mao interjected before Qiao Shen could respond, bellowing, “Kill him!”
Zhang Tianbei and Qiao Shen converged on Qin Hu from both sides, pushing their cultivation to the utmost.
As their attacks clashed, Zhang Tianbei and Qiao Shen were sent hurtling backwards. They looked up, their eyes wide with horror, at Qin Hu.
“Your cultivation has reached Mortality Transcending Level Nine Heaven!” Zhang Tianbei gasped in disbelief.
Both he and Qiao Shen were at Mortality Transcending Level Eight Heaven. Despite their simultaneous strike, they had been repelled. This clearly demonstrated Qin Hu’s superior cultivation level.
They immediately felt the weight of the situation bearing down on them.
“Since I’m the last of the Qin family, I will exterminate your entire clan,” Qin Hu declared, his sanity slipping away.
He fully tapped into his Mortality Transcending Level Nine Heaven cultivation. His overwhelming presence made it difficult for everyone to even draw breath, their faces turning ashen.
The Black Shadow Guard Team found their Spiritual Energy stifled, unable to flow freely within them.
Just then, Qiao Mao let out a stifled grunt. In an instant, Qin Hu’s imposing aura shattered, and the crushing pressure on everyone eased significantly.
“So, you’re the fundamental reason our plan fell apart, aren’t you?” Qin Hu turned to Qiao Mao, a surge of alarm rising within him. His Martial Dao Aura had been so effortlessly disrupted by Qiao Mao.
With eyes brimming with murderous intent, Qin Hu spoke icily, “In that case, I’ll eliminate you first, then the rest of them.”
