Chapter 5
C5 – Kill You When You Are Weak!
The coachman cracked his whip, urging the two black horses pulling the carriage to charge directly at Qiao Shuang.
At that moment, Qiao Shuang was standing in the middle of the road. Yet, when the coachman caught sight of her, he didn’t brake; instead, a cold sneer spread across his face. He lashed the horses again with his whip.
“You’re asking for trouble.”
Qiao Mao’s anger flared at the sight. He quickly pulled Qiao Shuang to safety and a gust of wind, charged with the power of thunder, swirled in his hand. It was the Wind Thunder Palm technique he had recently mastered.
“Young Master, that’s Qiao Mao. He’s trying to stop our carriage,” the coachman alerted Qin Dian upon witnessing Qiao Mao’s intervention.
“Qiao Mao is here?” Qin Dian asked, his brow furrowed.
“Young Master, Qiao Mao intends to use his body to halt our carriage to protect the girl,” the coachman replied with a sneer.
“He thinks he can stop my carriage with his body? Ridiculous! Is he seeking death?” Qin Dian scoffed, his expression growing colder. He commanded, “The Qiao family ordered us to kill the girl, but they didn’t forbid us from killing Qiao Mao. Drive straight over them and finish this.”
Stopping a carriage with one’s body wasn’t impossible, but only those who had reached Mortality Transcending Level Four Heaven could achieve such a feat. Qin Dian was aware that Qiao Mao was only at Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven, and therefore incapable of stopping the carriage.
“Understood, Young Master,” the coachman responded, then without a moment’s delay, he drove the carriage forward. He saw Qiao Mao standing defiantly in the center of the road and sneered cruelly, “If you’re so eager to die, I’ll grant your wish.”
The two black horses surged ahead as the onlookers screamed in terror. Qiao Mao, standing firm in the road with the Wind Thunder Palm at the ready, was the very image of a War God.
“Die!” the coachman yelled, pulling the reins taut. He spurred the horses into a leap, aiming their hooves at Qiao Mao’s head, all the while a cold smile played on his lips.
In that moment, Qiao Mao’s feet trembled, and with swift precision, he struck the necks of the two black horses with his hands. He had harnessed the full power of the Wind Thunder Palm and unleashed it upon the horses with devastating force.
Blood sprayed in every direction, staining Qiao Mao’s hands a vivid crimson. Even Qiao Shuang, standing behind him, was splattered with droplets of blood. The two black horses let out agonized screams as they collapsed.
The horses hit the ground, and the carriage toppled over with them. The coachman’s smug grin instantly turned to horror, and he tumbled down with the wreckage.
Onlookers in the street gasped in shock at the sight, realizing the two formidable black horses had indeed been stopped.
The coachman scrambled to his feet, pointing at Qiao Mao, too stunned to utter a word. It had never crossed his mind that Qiao Mao could halt their carriage and slay the two black horses.
With a contemptuous snort, Qiao Mao advanced, planting his foot on the coachman’s throat. A twist of his foot was all it took to end the man’s life.
The coachman had been in charge of the carriage and, upon seeing Qiao Shuang, hadn’t even considered stopping. He had nearly ended Qiao Shuang’s life, fueling Qiao Mao’s intense desire to kill him.
After dispatching the coachman, Qiao Mao turned his attention to the overturned carriage. From within its upturned frame, a figure emerged, clearly in a state of panic.
It was Qin Dian, the very person who had ordered the coachman. He was a portly man with a vicious look in his eyes, which now glared at Qiao Mao, filled with rage.
“Qiao Mao, how dare you overturn my carriage and kill my driver?” Qin Dian lamented over the sight of the two black horses lying in a pool of their own blood. These were no ordinary horses; they were renowned Ferghana Stallions, highly valuable and prized.
Qiao Mao offered no sympathy to Qin Dian. Though the driver had been the immediate threat to Qiao Shuang, Qiao Mao was well aware that it was Qin Dian who had truly endangered her life.
“I did kill your driver. What are you going to do about it?” Qiao Mao challenged, his eyes gleaming with an icy resolve.
Qin Dian’s fury intensified. His cultivation level was at Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven. While not the most exceptional among Martial Sun City’s younger generation, he had the formidable support of the Qin family behind him, deterring most from speaking to him in such a manner.
Previously, Qiao Mao had always been compliant with Qin Dian. “Do you not understand the consequences of defying me? Remember, your father, Qiao Dou, is now in Fallen Cloud Valley, leaving you without any support,” Qin Dian stated icily.
Qiao Mao was startled by this revelation. The fact that Qiao Dou had gone to Fallen Cloud Valley was a closely guarded secret among the family’s higher-ups. He had only learned of it after his family’s downfall in his previous life. How could Qin Dian be privy to this information?
It didn’t take long for Qiao Mao to piece together the situation. Evidently, Qiao Guang had been conspiring with the Qin family all along, which explained the leak of information.
Subsequently, Qin Dian used a carriage to brutally end Qiao Shuang’s life. When Qiao Mao’s uncle sought vengeance against the Qin family, he too met a grim fate.
Everything clicked into place. Qiao Shuang’s demise had been carefully orchestrated. Qiao Guang sought to exploit the Qin family’s influence to purge dissidents within his own family. Qiao Shuang’s death was merely the spark that set off the conflagration.
“No wonder, after my father vanished, the members of the Qiao family were either killed or injured,” Qiao Mao realized, his anger boiling over. Clenching his fists, he seethed, “You all deserve to die.”
“Hmph, we deserve to die? I might have been wary of Qiao Dou before, but now, it’s you who should be fearing death,” Qin Dian retorted with a cold snort, unleashing his formidable cultivation and an impressive aura.
Qin Dian was aware that the murder of Qiao Shuang was pivotal to the alliance between the Qin family and Qiao Guang. He didn’t hesitate to launch an attack on Qiao Mao.
Qiao Mao, filled with a deep-seated desire for vengeance, refrained from acting impulsively. Instead, he deftly maneuvered the Wind Thunder Palm technique in his hands.
Qin Dian’s cultivation might have been on par with Qiao Hee’s at Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven, but his ruthlessness set him apart. If Qiao Mao’s memory served him right, Qin Dian had mastered a Yellow Rank Middle Grade Martial Skill, making him an exceptionally formidable opponent.
If he were defeated, he wouldn’t just fail to rescue Qiao Shuang; he would also meet his end here.
“Barbarian Elephant Ground Shaking.”
Qin Dian charged forward. His hands whirled with energy, his arms bulking up with each moment. Then, with a ferocious punch, he lunged at Qiao Mao.
Qiao Mao slightly lifted his head but remained unmoved in his spot. He continued to gather his strength, readying the Wind Thunder Palm. As Qin Dian’s fist neared, a faint whisper of thunder flickered between Qiao Mao’s palms.
In Qiao Mao’s eyes, Qin Dian’s swollen arms crumbled.
Qin Dian screamed in agony and toppled backward.
The Wind Thunder Palm, charged with pent-up power, had nearly crippled Qin Dian. Seizing the moment, Qiao Mao launched another attack, unleashing the Wind Thunder Palm directly onto Qin Dian’s chest.
That devastating blow claimed Qin Dian’s life.
