Chapter 81: A Barrel of Cooking Oil
Chapter 81: A Barrel of Cooking Oil
"Mr. Zhang, please have some confidence with the police force!" Inspector Loong holds his wrist as he stops Zhang Qin Feng from leaving the police station without an escort. But it was pointless as Zhang Qin Feng left his department without looking back.
The last sentence from the terrorist has already hinted that they knew that Zhang Qin Feng was with the police while they're speaking on the phone.
For them to be this confident even after knowing that their words were monitored by the DongCheng Internal Security means the Horus Eye Mercenaries were a step ahead.
This was what worries the Inspector the most. Zhang Qin Feng shouldn't be in the Police Department's registration because he had him coming straight up to the third floor upon arrival.
If in that case, then from where, and which channel did the people from Horus Eye Mercenaries found out about Zhang Qin Feng's arrival at the Southern District's Police Station?
While the same thing was running in Zhang Qin Feng's mind, his version was slightly different from the Inspector. There was a loophole in the words of the caller.
'Why would the terrorist mentioned that I shouldn't get myself a cab if I wanted to go around? Do they have eyes inside the Police Station to make sure their targets were in their sight at all times?' Qin Lan asked himself.
From what he knew, the driver, the car, and the arrangement were arranged by Captain Hu in person. The fact that they assume that it was a cab was only possible from two ways.
First, the terrorist was unable to check the driver, but only the vehicle's registration. As for the second way, it was done by monitoring him coming out from the car and entered the Police Station.
[The system has reviewed the user's surroundings and making a comparison. There are two suspects. What would you like to do, user?]
'Connect my call to Inspector Loong.' Zhang Qin Feng said after walking out from the Police Station calmly.
"Mr. Zhang, have you changed your mind?" Inspector Loong answered the call almost instantly after it ringed once.
"No, but I have something else that you might be interested in knowing. Do you have the right to check the database and live CCTV broadcast of the Police Station?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
"Of course. Although my title is just an inspector, I'm the fourth top-ranking officer in this station. Except for the office of my boss, I can go into all departments and systems." Inspector Loong said.
"Then you might want to check on the male policeman seated on the ground floor, close to the Inquiries Reception. He's around his forties, has a mole under his left eye." Zhang Qin Feng said.
"Ten seconds." Inspector Loong seems to be walking around as he asked Zhang Qin Feng to wait.
"Bring up Cripple Han's database out to me." Inspector Loong speaks over the phone. From his response, it seems he had gone into the database room.
"This person is clean. I've worked with him for seven years. He had no record of crime, average lifestyle, proper family with one child. Did his gaze irritate you? He's known as the police hound because he can remember people's faces from a look. I'm sure he was just making sure he remembered who came in and out into the station." Inspector Loong said.
"Alright. The second person. The woman that seated nearest to the window seat. What was she doing here?" Zhang Qin Feng continued.
"Check the CCTV recording and bring up that woman's profile." the Inspector ordered the person handling the system's console. From the response, it seems the request was fulfilled swiftly without delay.
"Ding Su Rou? What a weird name. This woman is here to report her smartphone was stolen. What's wrong with her?" Inspector Loong asked.
"How long does it takes for the police station to attend to a citizen's report?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
"Fifteen minutes. After they got their copy of the report, they can leave right away." Inspector Loong replied. As an elite, he couldn't be clueless about their procedure and limit.
"Check how long she was here then?" Zhang Qin Feng smiled.
"Wait a moment… Get to the CCTV recording and… What?"
"What's the reason for this woman filing a simple phone robbery report ended up staying inside the police station for close to two hours? Give a call to the reception and ask what happened to this Ding Su Rou!" Inspector Loong immediately asked.
While at the same time, he monitored the fast-forwarding CCTV recording and noticed that this woman has two other mobile phones in her bag. She's also been caught exchanging her attending number with other people.
"Inspector, we found out. It's because she forgets the phone's model, so she had to wait for people to check and give her a call back later. But after that, her complaint was attended rather quickly." the staff inside the office responded.
"What phone is it?" the Inspector asked.
"Bang-Bang-Tang Model 11." the staff replied.
"No wonder it was stolen then… This phone was the hottest in the market right now, am I correct?" the staff added.
"Wait… Check her background. A BBT-Model 11 costs around 8000 dollars. Without a data package running right now, how can she afford that phone?" Inspector Loong asked.
"Inspector, I've checked her record. She's a waitress working at a nearby restaurant. Do you want me to bring her bank statement out?" the staff immediately replied.
"Just check if she has a record of buying the phone anywhere." the Inspector quickly replied.
"Sir, no." the staff immediately replied.
"Check how she left the police station."
"Mr. Zhang, thank you for your precious time. We'll follow up with this immediately. If you have something else for us, do let us know." Inspector Loong said before ending the call.
After trying to give the Inspector a hint of what could possibly go wrong, Zhang Qin Feng makes his way back to the studio apartment he has been staying.
"Oil Barrel…
"Stein, do you think everything was a coincidence?" Zhang Qin Feng asked as he opened the door into his studio. Going straight to the kitchen and opened the door to the shelf, he took an oil barrel out.
