Divine Mastering Dragon System

Chapter 18

C18 – I Learned from the past

“Are you joking, sir?”

Van Wan was somewhat taken aback. He hadn’t expected Choo Qin to come out with such a remark at the moment of decision.

He had always assumed Choo Qin was either a disciple of some reclusive big shot or perhaps a mage from another country on a visit.

After all, the Mage Guild, dedicated to the pursuit of magical truth, never concerned itself with one’s status or nationality, so he had readily accepted Choo Qin’s request for certification.

“No, my case is a bit unique. Could you show me an example? Would something like this count as a high-level magic rune?”

Choo Qin opened his hands, revealing a red Fire Cage in his left and an Ultimate Ice Seal in his right.

He had learned these two formidable skills from Hua Jie and the Xiong family just a couple of days ago.

“Uh…”

Van Wan was at a loss for words upon witnessing Choo Qin’s display.

He sighed.

“No-talisman Spellcasting again? How much time did you dedicate to mastering the fundamentals? I must admit, I feel rather inadequate.”

“These are beginner-level runes, consisting of two-dimensional structures. High-level runes, on the other hand, are based on three-dimensional structures. Though they require a considerable amount of time to cast and construct, their power far surpasses that of beginner runes.”

“If you haven’t yet mastered the three-dimensional structure of runes, you won’t be able to pass the Mage Guild’s certification test.”

“No, no, no… That’s not what I meant. I was wondering if you could cast a high-level rune for me to see? I tend to pick things up quite quickly.”

Choo Qin touched his head, feeling a bit sheepish. He had thought that his magical prowess alone would make certification a breeze, but he hadn’t anticipated making such a blunder upon arrival.

He had yet to delve into magic runes, but he resolved to thoroughly explore this area when he found the time.

Moreover, he suspected that his being stuck at level 10 Sorcerer might well be due to his lack of knowledge about runes.

After a moment’s thought, Van Wan nodded. Whether or not Choo Qin completed the certification, his skill in No-talisman Spellcasting had already impressed him.

“My expertise lies in fire and wind. Let me just inscribe a high-level Meteor Fire Rain rune for you.”

Dismissing his focus, a golden thread emerged and gradually formed into a fiery golden model.

The magic power around him began pulsating, and Choo Qin could easily sense its immense strength.

“Ding! You have observed the High Level Rune: Meteor Fire Rain (0/10000)”

“Ding! Upgraded to Ultimate Meteor Fire Rain.”

Relieved that the Upgrade System could learn, Choo Qin exhaled.

Van Wan’s Magic Rune was fully illuminated before he slowly retracted it and turned to Choo Qin, saying, “This rune is incredibly powerful. A brief drawing is all it takes to complete the certification.”

Choo Qin nodded and stepped back onto the testing platform.

“Alright, let me give it a shot. It doesn’t look too challenging.”

He closed his eyes and silently cast the newly learned Meteor Fire Rain.

The next moment, a torrent of magic power, tens of times more potent than before, burst forth, the air heating up to near scorching levels.

Even Van Wan, known for his composure, was taken aback by the spectacle. He hadn’t expected Choo Qin to be so earnest.

Thankfully, the testing platform’s Defensive Array activated automatically, preventing any disaster!

“Boom! Boom!”

Flames engulfed the space within the testing platform. The Defensive Array was pushed to its maximum, nearly breaching its limits, forcing Van Wan to intervene.

Choo Qin hadn’t anticipated that the Meteor Fire Rain would become so formidable with the Upgrade System’s boost.

He witnessed the robust Defensive Array showing signs of cracking.

Once the skill had been deployed, calm returned to the scene.

Choo Qin was unscathed, eagerly awaiting Van Wan’s response.

And Van Wan, the president of the Long Song Mage Guild, was left speechless by what he had seen, seemingly retreating into himself…
