Chapter 28
C28 – Meeting Again with Van Wan
A mysterious voice emerged from nowhere.
Silence once again enveloped the Tingyu Floor.
It was only then that everyone recalled they were on the grounds of the Earl Mansion, within the domain of the Jiaang family.
Yet, the incident was far from resolved.
Long Song City hadn’t seen such chaos in decades. The recent battle’s energy had already roused several of the city’s influential figures.
“Are you out of your mind? Why would you still give him money? Didn’t you see Jiaang Rudao has arrived? Choo Qin just killed Elder Qiao. The Jiaang family won’t stand for this!”
“But… But…”
“There are no buts. If you’re so eager to give money, you can wait until the fight’s over! Besides, the Mage Guild and the Earl Mansion have both shown up. I’m telling you, this prince is done for!”
“Don’t be so sure. That Small Spell from earlier? No one in Long Song City could withstand it.” Sunn Yuvguang couldn’t help but speak up in defense when he overheard the surrounding chatter.
He had been the first to pledge allegiance, even gaining a bit of notoriety. As a merchant, he had made a substantial wager this time, betting on the prince’s victory!
Choo Qin looked up and allowed a barely noticeable smile to grace his lips.
He straightened up and made his way toward the three arrivals along the path parted by the merchants.
To his surprise, among the trio was a familiar face – President Van Wan from the Mage Guild!
The other two were a man and a woman.
The man, middle-aged with a stern build, had piercing eyes that coldly scrutinized Choo Qin, as if trying to see right through him. His gaze swept the area, and upon realizing Qiao Guan’s presence had faded, his expression darkened with anger. This man was likely the so-called Law Enforcement Elder, Jiaang Rudao.
The woman appeared younger, yet her image was etched deeply in Choo Qin’s memory. Clad in purple, her slender neck and the hem of her blue dress hinted at a touch of red at her ankles. Her delicate and innocent features captivated Choo Qin – she must be Jiaang Hejiao, renowned within the Jiaang family and on par with Zhen Qiuqiu.
“We meet again, President Van.”
Choo Qin greeted him casually, completely ignoring the furious Jiaang Rudao standing next to Van Wan, seemingly unfazed by any wrongdoing in his slaying of Qiao Guan.
“Prince… Choo,” Van Wan was taken aback, not expecting to encounter him again under such circumstances, especially after having reported Choo Qin’s exceptional talent to the Mage Guild.
“It’s fine. Feel free to speak your mind. I’ve always been approachable,” Choo Qin assured.
“Humph!”
Before Van Wan could reply, Jiaang Rudao interjected with a disdainful snort.
“Cut the chatter. If you’ve got something to say, say it. If you want to fight, let’s fight! What’s with all the hemming and hawing?” Choo Qin snapped back, his patience thinning for those who beat around the bush.
Jiaang Rudao glared, taken aback. He had agreed to discuss matters civilly with Van Wan, not expecting Choo Qin to be so brash.
“What’s with the glare? Think your age gives you the right to lecture me?”
“I’ll lay it out for you now. The feud with the Jiaang family is set, and frankly, I don’t hold your family in high regard.”
“If it’s a matter of strength, let’s battle it out. If it’s influence you want to compare, let’s see who comes out on top! With my current status, do you really think I can’t make it back to the Imperial City? Regardless, I am a prince. Even as a ‘loser,’ I’m still the brother of the Imperial Lord!”
Choo Qin laid his cards on the table, reminding everyone of a crucial fact they seemed to have forgotten.
Despite his former insignificance, he remained the younger brother of the reigning Imperial Lord!
Now, as a Sorcerer, he was entitled to return to the Imperial City!
