Douluo Dalu 3: The Legend of the Dragon King

Chapter 1954: Sworn Enemies

Chapter 1954: Sworn Enemies

Right as her voice trailed off, a massive rift suddenly appeared above the Spirit Pagoda headquarters amid a burst of thunderous rumbling. Immediately thereafter, one massive figure after another emerged, hovering in mid-air behind Gu Yuena.

This group was led by two particularly imposing figures, and Tang Wulin's astonishment was even further exacerbated at the sight of this duo.

They were none other than the two people Tang Wulin referred to as uncles, the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape who were close friends with his parents, Da Ming and Er Ming.

Behind them stood all of the Great Beasts, and even more powerful soul beasts were beginning to emerge.

Meanwhile, the massive rift in the sky gradually expanded, forming a giant green cloud of light that was teeming with life, but in contrast with the Eternal Tree, this life energy was imbued with boundless killing intent. Hatred and resentment was radiating from every single one of the soul beasts, and even more soul beasts were rushing out of the green cloud.

The green light formed a giant vortex, and it was clear that it was connected to a small world. However, in contrast with all of the small worlds that Tang Wulin had seen in the past, this one was extremely stable, and he could clearly sense that it contained an incredibly enormous amount of energy.

"This is the Myriad Beast Plane!" Tang Wulin exclaimed.

Indeed, this was none other than the home of Da Ming and Er Ming, the Myriad Beast Plane. They were the rulers of the Myriad Beast Plane, and all of these soul beasts had clearly emerged from the same plane as well.

In what seemed like the blink of an eye, over 100,000 soul beasts had already appeared in the sky, and those were only the soul beasts that were capable of flight; even more land-dwelling soul beasts had emerged, and they were spread all over the area around the Spirit Pagoda headquarters.

At this point, Tang Wulin's complexion had become completely ashy and grey.

Regardless of how many enemies were appearing before him, he still only had eyes for Gu Yuena.

"Why? Why does it have to be like this? All of the difficult days are finally behind us, and we can finally be together; why do you have to do this?"

The tears in Gu Yuena's eyes had already vanished, and her eyes were filled with nothing but determination.

Di Tian harrumphed coldly, "Tang Wulin, this is a disaster for you humans, but for us soul beasts, it's our chance to return to our former glory. We've been waiting for this day for far too long. Our Lord will lead us to seize back the Douluo Continent and breathe life back into this world!"

Tang Wulin cast a cold glance toward him, and despite Di Tian's immense power, he immediately felt a chill run down his spine, causing him to shudder involuntarily and rendering him unable to continue speaking.

Tang Wulin turned back to Gu Yuena, and said, "If you're going to exact revenge on the human race, then I'm undoubtedly going to be your biggest obstacle, so why did you save me when Di Tian was trying to kill me?"

At this point, it had become abundantly clear to him that the silver figure that had saved him had been none other than Gu Yuena. Not only that, but Gu Yuena had saved him virtually every time he was met with a crisis that threatened his life.

Gu Yuena didn't say anything in response; she merely looked at him in silence, and the two looked into one another's eyes without either one averting their gaze.

"Does it really have to be like this?" Tang Wulin asked.

"This is the only way!" Gu Yuena replied after taking a deep breath.

A crestfallen look appeared on Tang Wulin's face. "Do you think these soul beasts will be enough to defeat the human race and take over the Douluo Continent again? Uncle Da Ming, Uncle Er Ming, are you going to help her as well?"

Da Ming wore a grim expression as he replied, "We have no choice but to help her, Wulin. Just as the Silver Dragon King said, if we don't act now, then there will no longer be any soul beasts in this world left for us to save. Regardless of what's happened in the past, Er Ming and I are soul beasts, and we've already agreed to the Silver Dragon King's plan. In a sense, you also have soul beast blood flowing in your veins, more so than even human blood."

Indeed, Tang Wulin's grandmother, Ah Yin, was a soul beast, so Tang San was already a half-soul beast. In addition to that, his mother, Xiao Wu, was also a soul beast, so Tang Wulin was actually three-quarters soul beast and only a quarter human.

"Come over to our side, Wulin," Er Ming said, "If you join forces with the Silver Dragon King, we'll be able to re-establish the rules in this world, and only then will we spare the human race. However, humans can no longer be the supreme force in this world, and we're prepared to go to war to seize back control."

Tang Wulin shook his head in response. "No, I can't do that. Regardless of what my bloodline is like, I must protect the human race. Do you really think you currently possess the power to oppose the human race and reclaim control over this world?"

Di Tian said in a cold voice, "The planar ruler and the Eternal Tree have both fallen into hibernation; what can you rely on now? Your human race does indeed have countless powerful beings, but we wouldn't be displaying our hand like this if we didn't have absolute confidence. My Lord, please give the order!"

Gu Yuena took a deep breath. Her gaze had been fixed on Tang Wulin this entire time, and Tang Wulin also turned her attention back to her.

Never did he think that they would become enemies one day, and the sight of Gu Yuena's cold expression filled his heart with indescribable pain.

At this point, the powerful beings of Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect had already gathered behind Tang Wulin, and all of them wore grim expressions.

Only now did Shrek's Six Monsters finally understand why Gu Yuena had chosen to join the Shrek Academy instead of staying with them in Shrek Academy: it had all been for the sake of revenge!

"Why, Gu Yue?" Xu Xiaoyan yelled, "Why are you doing this? We already agreed to hold a joint wedding and live happy lives together! Why are you doing this? Do you know how much Boss has given up for you? Do you know how much he loves you? How could you bear to do this to him?"

Tears began to flow down Xu Xiaoyan's face as she spoke.

All of the members of Shreks Seven Monsters knew one another extremely well, and all of Shrek's Six Monsters had already lost count of how many times they had seen Tang Wulin suffer from his separation from Gu Yuena.

Tang Wulin had given up more than any of them in his cultivation, and everyone knew that a major factor behind his dedication and sacrifice was Gu Yuena!

Never did they think that this day of bliss and celebration would lead to complete enmity between Gu Yuena and Tang Wulin.

Gu Yuena's expression remained cold and resolute, seemingly completely unaffected by Xu Xiaoyan's words.

"Begin," she declared, and Di Tian immediately nodded in response.

A sense of foreboding welled up in Tang Wulin's heart upon seeing this, and in the next instant, the giant green vortex up above suddenly turned black, and the entire sky darkened along with it.

Immediately thereafter, the vortex began to release peculiar energy fluctuations, while Gu Yuena thrust both palms up toward the heavens, and a ball of nine-colored light began to appear above her hands.
