Chapter 35: Hunting
Chapter 35: Hunting
The forest seemed to have no end.
The sun shone miserly in the dense jungle, shining on the staggered roots and messy stones on the ground. The moss floated in the air, mixed with the scent of rotting leaves, the deeper they traveled, the more so. One foot stepped on a bluestone, but the moss covering the bluestone slipped. Canon fell to the ground, and the angry black teenager took out his revolver and almost blew up the damn bluestone beneath his feet.
A metal javelin stuck out and gently pressed down on his hand. The cold metal at the spear tip caused Canon's body temperature to drop slightly due to anger. Rafie said quietly, "Don't do anything unless you want to inform Lucy that we're here."
"Rafie, maybe that bitch lied to us. This isn't her first time lying." Canon put away his revolver and stepped on Bluestone without hatred before giving up.
Rafie shook her head. "I don't think so. Emily isn't strong, and you can see that. She'll be down in a couple of seconds. She doesn't have the ability to protect herself, but she's walking here alone. She's probably going to meet Lucy, so "
As he spoke, something suddenly flashed past the corner of Rafie's eyes. He noticed this alertly and turned around to look at the place twenty meters away. A short bush suddenly shook. Rafie immediately winked at Canon. The two lowered their bodies and silently surrounded him.
There was nothing behind the bushes, except moss-covered rocks and floating roots. Canon shrugged his shoulders, indicating nothing. Rafie squatted down and reached into the bush to find out what was going on. A moment later, he pulled out a corner of his clothes.
The fibers at the edges of the corners of the clothes were torn apart and should have been pulled off by the ragged branches. Rafie told Canon about his discovery and the two continued to follow. Ten minutes later, another shallow footprint was found on the rubble moss.
Just like that, they discovered that the prey they were chasing seemed to be in a hurry, revealing more and more flaws. Based on these traces, they found an old tree that had already died. There was only a dry trunk left in the old tree, which had corroded into a dark hole. The bush in front of him unnaturally parted slightly on both sides, as if something had just forcibly passed through the bushes.
The two of them stood outside the tree hole. Through the light, they could vaguely see a figure in the tree hole. Rafie winked at Canon and both of them attacked at the same time. A javelin flew out of Rafie's hand, and Canon also shot towards the tree hole. They couldn't get the antidote anyway, and they didn't expect Lucy to obey them and kill the third-ranked girl to avoid complications.
A bloody mist suddenly burst out from the tree cave. The space inside was limited, and no matter how powerful Lucy was, there was no place to dodge. But Rafie was very cautious. After stopping the attack, he let Canon stay outside while he dived into the tree hole. He stepped forward and crossed the bush. He dived into the tree hole and landed with a kick. His feet immediately felt a stinging pain.
Looking down, it was the entrance of the tree hole, and some sharp broken bones were stuck upside down on the ground. The shattered bones were sharp and sharp, and Rafie stepped on them without any intention of doing so, immediately piercing into the soles of her shoes. Fortunately, he had only cut his foot, and at most, he was slightly injured. However, this was clearly a trap, especially in the depths of the tree hole. His javelin nailed a coat to the wall of the tree hole, and there was a young roe deer's corpse lying on the ground, so the trap became even more intense.
Rafie was about to warn Canon outside when she suddenly realized that she couldn't shout and her limbs started to lose control. When he fell to the ground, he saw a faint purple fluorescence at the tips of the bone fragments beneath his feet.
Poison?
Rafie was shocked and finally knew what had happened to him.
Outside the cave, Canon knew that something had happened when he saw Lafite suddenly fall. Before he could find out who set the trap, Alan had already rushed out from a bush ten meters away.
As soon as Fang appeared, Alan used his tactical saber as a javelin and threw it at Canon. The saber pierced through the air and let out a sharp howl. Canon immediately rolled on the ground and bounced to shoot. Allen's Berserker had already arrived in front of him when the saber was released. Berserker was as strong as a shield, and Canon's bullet landed on the saber's body. It shook Allen's mouth, causing him to feel a pain, and it had already split open.
However, Canon had no chance of firing a second shot. Alan was already in front of him. The black teenager shouted loudly as he flew towards Ellen with a kick. A smile flashed in the latter's eyes, and his body suddenly turned to the side, causing Canon's attack to fail.
The figure in front of him suddenly disappeared. Before Canon could capture the figure of his opponent again, he suddenly felt as if he was floating in the air. The world was spinning strangely in his eyes. Finally, he saw Ellen and his corpse that had been beheaded by a frenzied slaughter!
The entire battle took place in just a few seconds.
Originally, Canon could have fired at least two shots, but Allen, who was the first to attack, used his tactical blade to interfere. When he avoided the saber, it also meant that he had lost an opportunity to shoot. If he could do it again, perhaps Canon would risk his chest being pierced by a long knife and shoot Allen to death, and the outcome might be different.
Unfortunately, there was no such thing as an ifs.
So Canon died. Alan picked up his left wheel and gave a bullet to Rafie in the tree hole. Rafie was a cautious person, as evidenced by his refusal to risk his life when facing Emily, a weak person, and his willingness to swing behind his back. But now he was also dying of caution, and if he hadn't stepped into the hole to make sure that Lucy was dead, he wouldn't have stepped on the bones that Alan had painted with neurotoxin.
Alan felt that he could do too much in exchange for Lafite's life with the poison in the Berserk Wolf Sword Tooth. If possible, you can open a few more times.
It was already dusk when Alan returned to Lucy's hiding place after the hunt. Twilight fell, and the sunlight at dusk painted the ground with a dark yellow light. When Alan slid down the grass slope from his back, a cold pistol had already been pointed at his temple at the moment the light and darkness met. Then she put away her pistol and whispered, "You're back." Lucy leaned against the grass slope.
Alan shook his head. "I told you to hide."
"It's not my style to hide." Lucy waved her pistol. "I don't like hiding. Fighting is my choice."
"Let your options go to hell." Ellen said angrily. He took out the antidote he had obtained from Emily. Throw it to Lucy and say, "Drink it."
Whether it was because of the feeling of being in the shadows, Alan felt that Lucy did not look as weak as before. Lucy was obedient this time. She took the bottle and poured the contents into her mouth without saying a word. Alan couldn't help but say, "You don't try it. If it's poison, you're finished."
"I believe you." Lucy said nonchalantly.
The simple words struck the softness in Allen's heart, and he took over the land and stood there. Instead, Lucy looked at him strangely, "What are you doing? You can't be poisoned, right?"
"No no!"
"Then why are you blushing? Oh, I see. Little Alan, are you thinking of something bad?"
"I don't have any bad thoughts. Don't talk nonsense." Alan opened Lucy's claws to his face and said, "I'm just a little tired. I killed three people in the afternoon "
At this point, he paused and said, "Emily is dead."
Lucy nodded. "I know."
"You know?"
"She is a smart child, but she is too smart and will force herself to death." Lucy shook the empty bottle in her hand. "She must be hiding it. Since you have it, she must be dead, no matter what you do."
"Then, how did she do it?"
"Mr. Hannie." Alan gave a simple reminder.
Lucy's mind was as fast as lightning, and she immediately figured out the key point. "Did you use Teacher Aisha?"
"Yes, they switched the strengthening potion you used."
"No wonder " Lucy shook her head. "Forget it, let's not talk about it. What's the next plan, my hero?"
"First, let's get something to eat. Second, let's leave tomorrow and find a place to hide him for two or three days " Allen had already started to clean up the nearby grass and was preparing to light a fire. "When you're completely ready, we'll go and cause trouble for others."
"I like this plan!" Lucy snapped her fingers.
Just as they were setting up a campfire for dinner, a metal ball flew over the forest and landed on top of their heads. A few lasers shot down from below the metal ball, quickly creating a screen. On the screen, a few figures slid past. They were already dead teenagers. The conference broadcast the entire process of the death arena live, and every night, these metal balls would appear near the survivors, announcing the death list to them.
Of course, after the announcement of the list, the metal ball would quickly leave. They flew so fast that even if a teenager wanted to find a competitor through a metal ball, they couldn't keep up with its speed.
After the death list was played three times, the bottom of the metal ball closed and the screen disappeared. The sphere rose into the night sky and spat out a few thin blue flames. In the blink of an eye, it disappeared into the night.
The death toll from the death list just published had already reached 14. Of the 22 teenagers, only eight remained in less than two days. Judging from the previous death arenas, this could be considered normal. In the first three days, most of the youths would be eliminated, and the rest would be elite experts. Usually, only at this time would the death arena truly enter the climax.
For the remaining teenagers, it was the time to truly test life and death.
The next day, Alan removed all information about the camp and left with Lucy. They travelled north and spent a day crossing a grassland. Found a valley at noon the next day. The valley slope slopes into the air at an angle of 45 degrees and beneath it is a raging river bend. A large river winds its way from the northeast and turns sharply at a frightening angle of 90 degrees below the valley slope. It flows to the north and disappears into a vast forest.
Standing at the top of the slope, Ellen looked into the distance and said, "Let's stay here for two days."
