Chapter 5955: Saint From Above
Chapter 5955: Saint From Above
“Why bother divining when knowing the risk? Throwing away herself and the sect. Did she think she could be lucky enough to avoid the tribulation or maneuver faster than the high heaven?” Li Qiye smiled and shook his head at the kowtowing daoist.
“...” The daoist had no response.
“Courting death and dragging others down with her. A lifetime of wisdom for nothing.” Li Qiye continued.
The daoist pondered briefly before responding: “Did our sacred ancestor prepare a spark for revival so that she could revitalize our branch?”
Li Qiye gazed at the mirror, piercing through its multi-layered light. One life after another could be seen, connected by a grand dao of time.
He eventually reached the deepest area of the mirror - an expanse where boundless dao light and a minor group of celestial light intertwined. The dao light seemed to be gestating the latter.
This phenomenon amused Li Qiye as he said: “Death is death, there is no revival.”
The daoist was stunned to hear this due to his trust in the prophecies. The mirror had lit up and he found the so-called saint.
“I am not your saint nor is this any of my business.” Li Qiye smiled and tapped the daoist’s shoulder.
He then waved again and the mirror’s waves of light dissipated.
“No saints and immortals in this world, only ignorant wishes and asking for trouble.” Li Qiye concluded.
The daoist gazed at the mirror, still pondering the event. Was the prophecy not true? A revival seemed impossible.
When the bronze mirror shines, the saint shall descend with absolute control and the incense will be lit.
He believed the lit incense was a metaphor for the sect’s revitalization. This wouldn’t be possible without the return of their sacred ancestor.
The leaders had passed down this prophecy for eras, always guarding this secret. Now, it seemed this was all for nothing.
“A self-brought disaster and a severing of fate, there’s no salvaging this.” Li Qiye looked around the main hall and said.
Li Qiye knew of the secret and the sacred ancestor’s calculation. She had indeed predicted the future but in his eyes, she severed the fateful connection. A severed connection meant the end of it.
As Li Qiye left the building, the daoist caught up and said happily: “Young Noble, I will go with you to Insane Gate.”
“Oh? Not staying here anymore?” Li Qiye asked.
“I’m the only one left and this observatory won’t go anywhere, I can return whenever I want. Since you’re here, I should be following you and offering my service.” The daoist said.
With that, he took out an ox cart out of nowhere - a testament to the sect's wretched state, not able to have a decent carriage.
“Young Noble, allow me to take you to Insane Gate.” He asked with an enthusiastic smile despite how absurd it looked.
Li Qiye smiled and climbed up the cart, making himself comfortable.
“Let’s go.” The daoist steered the ox toward the next destination.
“Young Noble, if there is an immortal, what will the arrival of one be like?” The daoist asked along the way.
“Still can’t forget about the prophecy?” Li Qiye gave him the side eye.
“Although my cultivation is low, I feel that she must have seen the future, something unbelievable.” The daoist smiled wryly.
“If there is an immortal here, it might be the end of Three Immortals.” Li Qiye said.
“Why would that be the case?” The daoist didn’t expect this response.
“Three Immortals World is utterly insignificant and ugly, perhaps the immortal would want to change it.” Li Qiye said.
“...” The daoist fell into silence for a moment before asking: “Despite my meager skill, I perform a reading after Poye’s death.”
“What did you find?” Li Qiye smiled.
“It might be due to my terrible skill, but it was an ominous reading. The details are unclear but this world will be engulfed by the night. I think Poye will return.” The daoist responded and got chills.
“Young Noble, Poye was unbeatable, what would he do after returning?” The daoist then asked.
“You tell me, he might be an immortal then.” Li Qiye responded.
“Is it possible?” The daoist asked: “Maybe, no one could stop him before, not Lord of Life and Death, Lord of Calamities, or Desolate Ancestor.”
He thought Poye could be the so-called immortal then from the prophecy.
Li Qiye only smiled and didn’t respond.
“Wait, then what did I see with my fortune? Ominous signs...” The daoist wondered.
“What could an immortal possibly be doing in this world? Bored out of their mind? Or did they come with ulterior motives?” Li Qiye said.
“Right.” The daoist agreed about the potentially catastrophic consequences.
