Chapter 6139: No Attachment?
Chapter 6139: No Attachment?
The group exchanged glances before stopping on the bald old man.
“What?” He said.
“Well, you are the strongest and oldest among us, the most amazing.” Water raised both hands and said: “Thus, you should become the Ghost Monarch. We will obey your commands.”
“What commands? It is nothing more than a set of laws.” The old man retorted.
“We still have to obey them, the whole ghost market will listen to you.” Water smiled.
“Then why don’t you become the Ghost Monarch if it’s that nice?” The old man glared.
“Hehehe, I’m too young and inexperienced compared to you.” Water said.
The others agreed that the old man was the most qualified to take this position.
“It’s best that I act as a guard since I don’t have many years left given my age.” The old man shook his head.
The years were merciless and ghosts couldn’t escape death.
“There’s nothing in this world that makes you want to stay?” Nameless said sentimentally.
“Not to mention the mortal world, even this ghost world is the same. I don’t mind just observing, it’s my duty.” The old man said.
They could tell that although he had severed the past, he still couldn’t drop the issue. Therefore, he was willing to die from old age here.
“I’ll do it.” Devil stepped forward.
“Wait, wait...” Water, Fog, and Nameless became nervous after hearing this.
Water grabbed Devil’s shoulder and said with a wide smile: “Brother, you don’t need to trouble yourself with this, leave it to us.”
“Right, we’ll get it done.” Fog said.
Devil was the most problematic one among them. No one knew if Ghost Monarch would change after the fusion and do something dreadful.
“Don’t want me to do it?” Devl glared at them.
“You’re too busy for this, it’s not a good match.” Water shook his head.
“You can’t become Ghost Monarch, you’re the biggest unknown in the market.” The old man said directly.
Devil had no choice but to give up. He was not a good candidate given his darkness and murderous impulses.
“Let me, I will become one with the laws.” Nameless said solemnly.
“Wait, you don’t need to shoulder this mission.” Fog stopped him.
“Someone has to, no?” Nameless smiled: “You all have unfinished businesses while I am alone. Refine me into the laws.”
Water and Fog sighed after hearing this.
“You have your idiotic moments, this is another.” The old man shook his head.
“And they were why you highly evaluated me.” Nameless smiled.
“I don’t even trust myself, let alone anyone else.” The old man said.
“I will not let you down.” Nameless bowed.
“Your bright future will end here.” The old man said.
“It’s all the same. I won’t achieve much in the mortal world, not like I can become an immortal. Might as well become the Ghost Monarch and laws here, that’s a big achievement.” Nameless smiled.
“It is.” The old man showed a rare smile.
“Your relationship is so confusing.” Water said: “Fine, I support you since you will do a great job.”
“You do it.” Fog nodded.
“I have no issue with it.” Devil said begrudgingly.
“Come, fuse with the laws and a new Ghost Monarch will be born.” Li Qiye gently touched Nameless’ forehead.
“Thank you, Sir.” Nameless took a deep breath and bowed.
“Buzz.” Li Qiye’s hand brimmed with primordial light. He released it onto the statue.
Its head moved, seemingly returning to life.
“Ooo-” Its eyes lit up after a mechanical hum.
“Crackle!” Lightning bolts and arcs erupted as if the statue was short-circuiting. Dao flames with a dark glow took over next.
Tiny and complex laws appeared. The countless details were impossible to remember. They were the foundation of the major ghost market, imposing certain rules on all visitors and inhabitants.
Only the laws remained once the body melted to ashes, engulfed by Li Qiye’s light.
“Are you ready?” He asked Nameless.
“Do it.” Nameless took a deep breath.
“Very well.” Li Qiye shifted the laws into a seal and imprinted it onto him.
“Zzz...” It looked like a molten seal falling into the water with smoke oozing out.
“Ahh!” The powerful ghost screamed in agony as his body melted to make room for the laws.
Eventually, the two became one.
