Chapter 689 Evil Goddess

Chapter 689: Evil Goddess

"W-What was that?" Even Commander Erwin couldn't keep his face calm and showed a trace of panic and shock. The earlier wicked power was so strong that it almost caused his thoughts to corrupt momentarily.

His companions were also in a similar situation and showed terrified looks.

On the other hand, the elvish male also looked in the direction where the wicked energy came from and turned grim.

"F*ck! It's the power of a Demon Lord! There is such a being sealed in this layer?" His face showed a trace of anxiety and worry.

"But which moron released such a being? I should take care of it while it's still weakened." He spoke in the same elvish tongue and gazed toward the few human intruders.

"Although I don't know how you guys came here, I'm not in a mood to play with you all. Before I could get angry, disappear from my eyes." As he spoke, an abnormal power strong enough to crush their bodies appeared in that cavern and made everyone tremble.

But as Commander Erwin and others turned towards the portal, they noticed it had disappeared.

Only then did the Elvish man turn his attention towards the black spear stabbing into the cavern wall and go pale.

"D-Did you guys break the Core already?" It was the key to this isolated dimension and a gateway to the outer world!

This Elvish man could leave this sealed domain and enter the Fourth Dimension at any time because of that core.

It was almost impossible to enter this place or leave without the core.

"But how did you guys come here in the first place?" He stared at the humans with a dumbfounded look and soon turned his attention toward the outside world.

"Fourth Layer is done for!" That's all he could say at that moment.

...

Hidden Chamber, Temple of Death, Fortress of Soul Graves.

As the Magical Beasts gathered outside the temple, the flame chains that sealed the black coffin slowly disintegrated into pure energy and disappeared.

Slowly, the lid of the black coffin started to move and soon fell on the cold floor.

After that, an eerie blackish humanoid being sat up from the coffin and made a creaky cough.

Then, it slowly stood up and stepped out of the coffin.

At the same time, the eerie blackish humanoid being started to transform and form into an appearance of a female.

She had long, lustrous black hair, crimson red eyes, pale skin, two eerie black horns, a jet-black tail, and a lustful body that could even tame Legendary beings. Once she transformed into a humanoid appearance, strange black liquids came out of nowhere and formed into a jet-black dress.

An eerie chuckle echoed as she took a deep breath and looked upward before raising her hand.

"Even after eons of time, there are always a bunch of insects that dare to stand in my way." She said coldly and snapped her fingers.

A moment later, an eerie, wicked black energy came out of her fingers and shot up towards the ceiling.

The next instant, Charles and all the Legendary Creatures sensed a dreadful amount of chaos energy and retreated in shriek and panic.

The gathering energy was so powerful that it caused the surrounding space to crack at multiple regions.

Then, an incredible scene unfolded before everyone's eyes.

A towering pillar of black light enveloped the temple and shot towards the sky, sending rippling waves in all directions.

Everyone in the Fourth Layer felt a strange sense of dreadfulness and hopelessness.

Even the Legendary Unicorn, Dragon, and other five creatures showed complete submission and stood there frozen.

Charles stared at the scene unfolding before his eyes and soon noticed a gigantic spatial hole appeared in the area where the pillar of light crashed.

A beautiful black-haired figure slowly ascended from the gigantic pit and hovered 100 meters above the ground.

She calmly gazed at the thousands of legendary monsters and stepped in midair.

She disappeared a second later and reappeared before the proud Golden Griffin.

Then, she calmly raised her hand and made a flick on its forehead.

The next instant, the Golden Griffin's head exploded with a bang, splattering blood and brain matter in all directions.

But it was just the start.

Before the other Magical Beasts could retaliate or escape, the black-haired woman conjured a blackish scythe out of thin air and slashed at the Minotaur on its left side.

A sharp, invisible power came out of the scythe and split the Minotaur into two.

But before the Evil Goddess could move her scythe again, the Unicorn stepped forward and enveloped the whole surroundings in a white fog.

As if time itself turned back, the destroyed Griffon's head and body, and the already split Minotaur started to re-attach and appeared as good as new!

"Please cease your actions, Evil Goddess Vespera. We will not block your path, so please calm your anger and leave this place as soon as possible." A young child's voice came from the Unicorn and spread through the surroundings. Even though the Unicorn spoke in ancient Abyssal Language, Charles somehow managed to understand the meaning behind its words.

As soon as the Unicorn spoke, the Evil Goddess stopped her action and sharpened her gaze toward the Unicorn before making a playful grin.

"Oh? Aren't you the cute little pet of *******? Hmm? I can't pronounce her name?" A severe expression replaced her playful smile.

"Humph, I despise listening to a beast's order. A beast should lick my feet and beg me to pet, not talk back." As she spoke, she once again waved her scythe at the Minotaur.

But unlike last time, Minotaur activated its bloodline spell and covered its body with a crystalline layer of ice to protect itself from the upcoming attack.

Alas, the Minotaur's body was split into countless pieces the next moment and splattered like raindrops.

Then, Vespera disappeared from where she stood and reappeared behind the Medusa. Before the young girl in snake body could respond, she felt her whole surroundings start to spin.

On the other hand, Vespera turned into a streak of shadow and moved like lightning. Wherever she moved, more than a dozen of Legend Rank Magical Beasts' heads or bodies split into multiple pieces and exploded like watermelons.

A massacre started at the entrance of the Temple of Souls!

In fifteen minutes, most of the Magical Beasts in the Ruined Town had been wholly massacred.

Only Griffon, Unicorn, and a few other Legendary Magical Beasts stood frozen at the entrance and quivered.

Charles observed the gruesome scene unfolding before him with a heavy heart. The Evil Goddess Vespera, released from the black coffin, was wreaking havoc upon the Legendary Magical Beasts with unparalleled cruelty. Her power seemed boundless, effortlessly dismantling their defenses and shattering their bodies.

The Golden Griffin, Unicorn, and others stood frozen, witnessing the destruction of their kin. The air was thick with a sense of despair, and Charles knew that standing against Vespera was futile in their current state.

"P-Please help us, savior from the Human World." A pleading whisper suddenly echoed on the battlefield.

At that moment, the white Unicorn looked directly in the direction where Charles was hiding and bowed its head while pleading.

Evil Goddess Vespera also noticed the Unicorn's action and chuckled as she gazed at the space.

"Unfortunately, he is also no match against me." Even though she only gazed at Charles for a split second, he still felt like an enormous python was staring at him.

'She is most likely as powerful as a True God or the Avatar of Udnir. I'll surely die if I step out of the Astral Realm.'

While Charles was worrying about how to act from now on, the Evil Goddess continued her assault against the remaining Magical Beasts and started her massacre again.

Among all the legendary beasts, only the Unicorn lasted against the Evil Goddess's attacks for more than 30 seconds before getting decapitated by the black scythe.

Vespera stood in the middle of the corpses of magical beasts and bathed herself in the blood.

Once she was done killing the Unicorn, she slowly turned her gaze towards Charles and smirked.

Then, she took a unique black orb out of nowhere and tossed it towards the sky.

The next second, a powerful suction force appeared out of nowhere, pulling all the nearby souls from the astral realm.

Even Charles was pulled towards it by the strange invisible force and was startled deeply.

But thanks to his 'Demi-God' Rank Soul, he resisted the pulling force and felt at ease.

Within a few seconds, all the Magical Beasts' souls got sucked into the black orb and sealed inside.

Then, the black orb slowly descended from midair and landed on Vespera's hand.

"Not enough to summon the 'Will of Abyss' and get my reward."

After storing the black orb in her dimension, she again turned her gaze towards Charles and spoke.

"Let's meet again someday." Saying so, she slowly ascended to the sky and flew in the direction where the Human Settlement was located at an incredible speed. Charles remained in the same place for a few more minutes and finally stepped out of the Astral Realm.

"What a terrifying monster! I can barely stand against one of those King Magical Beasts, but she killed them like chickens! Vespera, huh? I'll look into her history once I get back to Edhen World." He muttered as he returned to his human form and walked towards the Temple of Souls.

But right now, instead of a temple, what appeared before his eyes was a gigantic pit. Without any hesitation, he jumped into the massive pit and soon found himself landed on the Chamber of Dead.
