Chapter 58: Intermediate Adventurer Zone
Chapter 58: Intermediate Adventurer Zone
Shye made a few preparations before heading towards the intermediate adventurer zone to complete the required quest for him to receive an intermediate adventurer badge.
He bought a few potions, rations, scent-altering perfumes, bandages, disinfectants, and many more.
There were quite a few creatures he had to hunt and all of those creatures were higher-ranked than the apex predators inside the beginner adventurer zone so Shye didn't want to underestimate those creatures and lose his life.
He also honestly told Maia about the situation because she would probably be worried if he didn't tell her.
At first, Maia was absolutely against the idea but after patiently explaining to her that the beginner adventurer zone cannot help him grow stronger anymore, Maia finally understood.
She made him a few good luck charms to increase the likelihood of him surviving the dangers of the intermediate adventurer zone and after everything was settled, Shye excitedly headed toward the intermediate adventurer zone.
He didn't know why but he wasn't nervous at all, in fact, he was actually a bit excited to go adventuring inside the intermediate adventurer zone.
Shye could take a horse carriage towards the entrance of the intermediate adventurer zone but he hadn't explored the pathway towards the intermediate adventurer zone yet so he chose to walk simply because he felt that it was more fun that way.
After half an hour of walking, he finally arrived at the entrance.
Shye was surprised because, outside the entrance, there were lots of adventurers making preparations while others were trying to recruit party members.
It was way more lively here compared to the beginner adventurer zone.
Once Shye arrived, some of the adventurers sneered.
"Hmmph! Another arrogant student of the academy!"
"He's still so young but he thinks that he could already go inside the intermediate adventurer zone? Delusional!"
A wave of negative and rude comments hit him after simply arriving.
He was a bit perplexed because he didn't do anything to deserve the anger of the adventurers around him.
However, what he didn't know was, that most of these veteran adventurers failed the Colzen Adventurer Academy entrance exam when they were younger so they were annoyed every time they saw students from the academy.
These adventurers were stuck at their current skill levels because they had no guidance from the academy and gold rank would probably be their highest achievement in their lifetime.
In contrast, the prospects of those who graduated from the academy were immeasurable.
At the very least, even the most ordinary graduates of the academy had a chance to surpass the gold rank which was considered as the great divide between "ordinary" and "great" adventurers.
Once an adventurer achieves the platinum rank, then they can consider themselves to have achieved something in life and they can hold their heads high among the common populace.
They could choose a city they want to start a family in and their children would probably be considered as seeded examinees just like Shirley.
The higher the rank an adventurer achieves, the more comfortable their life will be when it is time to settle down and start a family.
As an example, the children of Adamantite ranked adventurers, titled adventurers, and heroes were regularly featured in the most famous magazines and newspapers.
In addition to this, some of them who were blessed in the looks department were even hired as advertisement models by the most prominent shops.
This is the reason why the "ordinary" adventurers were always envious of students from the adventurer academies, it was because they knew that their lifetime achievements would pale in comparison to the students.
Although Shye was a bit bewildered by the amount of hate he received, he took a deep breath and walked towards the guards at the entrance of the intermediate adventurer zone.
In contrast to the envious ordinary adventurers, the guards spoke to the students with enthusiasm.
This is because they believed that these students would become great adventurers in the future and they wanted to secure some good connections while the adventurers were still young.
"Hello, are you a student from Colzen Adventurer Academy?"
A guard asked
"Hello, yes, but I'm in the middle of a quest to obtain my intermediate adventurer badge so the staff member in charge of the badge applications gave me this temporary pass."
The guards furrowed their brows upon hearing what Shye said. However, upon checking the validity of the temporary pass, wide smiles returned on their faces as they enthusiastically let Shye enter the intermediate adventurer zone.
