Chapter 217: Cloud Man
(Cloud Man)
A mystical being formed from ever-changing clouds. It can create illusions from mist and smoke, confusing and disorienting its enemies. This entity floats gracefully, manipulating the weather to summon thunderstorms and call forth gusts of wind.
- Tier: Soul A
- Soul Energy: 400,000
- Defense: 8,000
- Attack: 11,500
- (Mist Illusion): Creates illusions from clouds, making it seem as if multiple copies of itself are attacking. This causes enemies to strike at shadows, reducing their accuracy by 50% and lowering their attack by 50% for 10 seconds. Cooldown: 1 minute.
"Tier A, huh?" murmured the real Lein, observing the clone's perspective above the clouds.
Lein—or rather, the clone—stared at the Cloud Man before him without comment. Without hesitation, he activated Lein's ultimate skill.
[Sword Heaven Prison]
Skill 4: (Sword Heaven Prison) Summons a sword prison to trap enemies for 5 seconds. Reduces enemy attributes by 50%. Cooldown: 30 minutes.
Immediately, a massive sword descended from the sky, heading straight for the Cloud Man inside the bubble far away. Not just one, but three other golden swords surrounded him. Once all four swords fell, a transparent barrier formed into a cube, trapping the Cloud Man inside the bubble.
"You're too relaxed," the real Lein murmured lightly, satisfied with the success of his sword prison. He was about to shift his focus away from the clone's view when a middle-aged man's voice suddenly echoed around him.
"Hello, young friend."
The clone Lein turned, finding the Cloud Man standing casually on a floating cloud. His broad smile sent a chill through Lein's heart.
When the clone looked back toward where the Cloud Man had been imprisoned, he saw nothing but an empty golden sword prison.
"Am I caught in an illusion?" Lein wondered to himself.
Seeing Lein not respond, the Cloud Man's wide grin turned somewhat sinister. With a gentle wave of his hand, a colossal cloud appeared above the clone Lein's head.
The cloud was massive—about the size of a football field—and it descended, intending to crush the clone Lein, who appeared no more than an ant in comparison.
The clone Lein did not remain idle. The golden sword in his hand glowed brilliantly, extending to 100 meters in length. With a full swing from behind, the blade's light cleaved through the enormous cloud above him.
The massive cloud trembled, then gradually dissipated.
"Hmm, not bad," the Cloud Man remarked, impressed by the clone Lein's skill.
Soon after, he noticed countless golden swords materializing around the clone Lein.
"The aura of this swordsman is deep—it's been a long time since I've seen anything like it," the Cloud Man muttered emotionally. Forming a hand seal, a white barrier emerged, surrounding him.
Tang...
The first sword clanged against the barrier and fell.
Tang... Tang...
"Your swords are strong, but—"
Before he could finish his sentence, a powerful slash from behind sliced the Cloud Man's body in two.
"You talk too much," the real Lein observed, still monitoring the battle between his clone and the Cloud Man.
He watched the Cloud Man's body reassemble, though his soul energy was halved by the direct slash.
"Damn... How did this young man move so fast? Is he a mage?" the Cloud Man wondered, bewildered. He had not even sensed when Lein had shifted positions.
He eyed the clone Lein with newfound caution.
"Come on... again, bro," the real Lein instructed his clone.
Without hesitation, the clone Lein directed the golden blades toward the Cloud Man, bombarding him with sword strikes. One by one, the swords clashed against the Cloud Man's barrier.
Crack... The barrier shattered.
Seizing the opportunity, the clone Lein teleported again and delivered a direct slash toward the Cloud Man's neck.
In the span of a single breath, the clone Lein was already behind the Cloud Man, ready to execute the neck slash. However, his movement faltered as multiple Cloud Men appeared in front of him, identical to each other.
"How do you like my illusion skill?"
From a distance, the Cloud Man spoke smugly. His other illusions echoed the same words, temporarily confusing the clone Lein.
The clone Lein didn't waste time. A fan with a brown wooden handle appeared out of thin air. He waved it a few times, and waves of pure energy spread out from him as the center.
(Goddess of Enlightenment Fan)
A fan made from the feathers of a sky swan, forged for 1,000 years with the lightning of the god of destruction.
- Type: Active Artifact
- Grade: Pure Artifact
- Essence: 615
- Ability: (Soul Purification) Activates the pure soul energy contained in the fan. Eliminates all illusions around the user and within the user's soul, refreshing the mind, making it healthier and calmer. Regular use increases charisma and the positive aura of the owner. Cooldown: 10 minutes.
Each time the waves of pure energy passed through one of the Cloud Man's illusions, the illusion disintegrated effortlessly.
"Damn, a pure artifact?" the Cloud Man muttered, shocked. Not wasting any time, he immediately fled for his safety.
The clone Lein activated the Vortex Plate's teleportation ability, appearing beside the fleeing Cloud Man.
"No!" the Cloud Man shouted, eyes wide in fear, shocked to find the clone Lein right behind him.
Slash...
A decisive and merciless slash cleaved through the Cloud Man's body.
[Successfully killed Cloud Man, dropped (Illusion Cloud – Soul A)]
A notification sounded, and a transparent bubble containing an item shaped like a cloud appeared.
"Easy," Lein said casually, watching the Cloud Man perish. He then severed his connection with the clone.
Surveying his surroundings, he saw thousands of his clones moving in and out of portals. "It's truly beautiful having so many staff—no, clones," Lein boasted, reveling in his duplication talent.
He felt a bit overwhelmed, still trying to manage his mind to avoid getting too focused on his clones' perspectives. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a chair from his spatial ring, followed by a table and some food.
He didn't forget to take out the fan he used earlier, (Goddess of Enlightenment Fan).
"I'll need ten more fans like this to deal with that stingy black system," Lein murmured to himself.
