Tier five, nine-star! Xiang Ning was extremely pleased to see that, but it was within his expectations. He could feel some minute changes from within his body, though they were very faint since he was in an extremely fatigued state. If he restored his strength, he would be able to feel how much had changed.
Three hours passed without incident and Xiang Ning activated Refresh. With his strength restored, he finally had the courage to explore once again. He took out the Devourer and sighed at its sorry state. Xiang Ning fed three beast cores to the shattered bioweapon. It would take days for it to recover.
He then strapped it on his back and started searching the security room for information, but most of it had already turned to dust. All that was left was the sturdy metallic hull of the ship.
He activated Disguise and carefully snuck out of the room and headed toward the main control center. Along the way, he saw many signs of battle. Based on the damage, he speculated that the battle had been fierce.
Xiang Ning continued walking down the path as he thought about how the monster was capable of living for so long and had managed to maintain its strength. He rounded a corner and saw that the signs of battle were even more intense. The entire corridor was shredded to pieces with slash marks marring the walls. There was a large hole on one side and Xiang Ning sensed something through it.
He slowed down and inspected the hole. He carefully peeked into it and saw that it was a lab. WaitIs that monsteran artificial life?
He didnt want to venture into the dark lab, but curiosity gripped his heart. What if theres a method to kill the monster in the lab? He remembered that the lab was one of the few places the ship was still supplying energy to. He swallowed his saliva as he activated the Heavens Key Armor and entered the lab.
With the night vision function of the armor, he was able to clearly see his surroundings. It was more or less the same as the lab on the Chaos and there wasnt anything too out of the ordinary. This ship definitely isnt human-made, but all these pieces of equipment are familiar to me. Were they humanoid aliens?
He slowly ventured deeper inside and finally saw a dim light spilling out from a door. He deactivated the night vision function of his armor and inched closer to the door. He peered inside and was shocked to see what was contained within. Damn! Looks like they were the cause of their own death!
He expanded his Mental Power to probe his surroundings. His Combat Instinct didnt activate, much to his relief. After ensuring that it was safe, he walked into the room.
What greeted him was a space no smaller than a thousand square meters. Within the room were hundreds of incubation pods, each of them containing various forms of life or tissue. Xiang Ning had never seen any of them before. Most of them contained monsters like the one he had encountered earlier, but they were slightly different. Still, there was no mistaking them from their facial features.
There was a control panel in the room with a broken incubation pod in front of it. He walked toward it and saw that there was an information plaque beneath the incubation pod. He didnt recognize the language so he spent 50,000 Fury Points to learn it from the system.
Qiuros, specimen 03. Xiang Ning read the plaque. He turned and examined the rest of the incubation pods and found that the monsters all had the same engraving with different numbers. It seemed that the monster's name, or at least its species' name, was Qiuros.
He turned to the control panel and blew off the thick dust covering it. Faint lights blinked from the panel as he examined it. It took him some time before he could make sense of what he was seeing.
He pressed one of the buttons and read the list. It was an archive! There were three entries, but the first two had been encrypted and he would need a password for them. The final one, however, wasnt encrypted.
He selected it and a soft female voice echoed in the room. Hairo Empire, Lottiks first laboratory, specimen 03, 137th augmentation. The strength of the specimen has surpassed estimated values. Vital signs remain erratic. Extremely aggressive and will attack without discrimination.
Hairo Empire, Lottiks first laboratory, specimen 03, 139th augmentation. This might sound crazy, but I think I did it. The specimen revived! Its vital signs are now stable.
Hairo Empire. I cant believe it! It possesses the ability to solve complex problems!
Hairo Empire. Its absolutely perfect! Success is just a stone's throw away!
Xiang Ning now more or less had a grasp of what was going on. He turned and saw there was one final entry. He was certain that it contained video of what happened afterward. He turned on the video and saw a female alien. She was similar to a human, but her ears were pointed, like an elf's. Her skin and some of her features were different too.
He was astounded.
