Chapter 8: Getting an Identity Card.

Chapter 8: Getting an Identity Card.

Frankenstein grabbed the certificate correlating information about Whittaker and the recommendation letter from the desk for a look.

His handsome face showed amazement as he glared at Whittaker. With a smile, he said in praise, "Good! You are from a humble background but managed to awaken the A-ranked Frost Spell Book. With your potential, there is no need to worry about your humble background. Don't be troubled by it no matter what the other students will say to you. Sooner or later, you will surpass your peers with a distinguished background in the Academy, as long as you work hard enough."

Being praised has made him happy. "Thank you, Dean. Coming from a humble background has never troubled my heart, and I don't care what the others will say to me or think about me. I will prove my worth with my actions!" Whittaker knew that this was a Royal Academy where mostly everyone belongs to a distinguished background. From the way Barbarian Luo acted towards them, he had inferred that nobles disdain commoners. This has been further confirmed by what Headmaster had said before and what Dean Frankenstein just said.

The headmaster thoughtfully stroked his white beard while glancing at Whittaker, 'A headstrong and decent personality. He has the making of a hero but only time will tell.'

Frankenstein said by directing his hands towards a Black Globe placed on the Desk. "Now, please place your hands on the power level detector and direct mana into it."

"Okay." Following his directions, Whittaker who stood opposite him placed his hands on the Power level detector.

The power level detector shone and released a light that scanned the young boy from head to toe, even every inch of his hair strand to detect the total amount of mana he has.

The scanning light thinned until it was no more and immediately the number 1.21 appeared on it.

Seeing that, Frankenstein's jaw dropped in surprise. This gave him such a shock that he stood up from his chair. "HHow is this possible. HeadHeadmaster! Do you also see what I am seeing, The number on the power detector that is showing 1.21! Is it broken????"

Headmaster didn't fare any better than him, but he managed to retain his graceful pose. Touching the crystal, he replied, "No, it's not broken. His power level is with no doubt 1.21!"

The boy that had caused these two high classed personalities to be shocking thought that a power level of 1.21 was pathetic. He asked in internal turmoil, "Headmaster, Dean Frankenstein, am I too weak?"

It was as if they had heard a universal joke. They cracked up in laughter.

"Whittaker, be honest, did you take a high-grade Mantra potion on your way to the Academy?" The Dean asked.

Mantra potion was a mana point increasing potion. It can only be taken after a person becomes a mage by awakening a spellbook. This potion couldn't be purchased by commoners.

Whittaker did know about potions as even commoners could purchase Health Recovery potion, but he didn't know about potions that commoners couldn't purchase.

Without any guilt, he innocently replied, "Uh, what's Mantra "

"Hahaha!" The Headmaster standing beside him cracked up because of what the Dean said.

"Haha, Frankenstein did your mind take a hit? Have you forgotten the basic principles of mana increasing potion? Any type of Mana increasing potions take days to be fully consumed. He didn't have that much time." Saying that he turned his attention towards the boy. "Boy, you are not weak, but too strong for a newly awakened mage. Normally, everyone that awakens a spellbook only has a maximum of 100 mana units. This is a universal rule that also affects S-ranked Spellbook awakeners. In this world, a mage power is determined by the amount of his maximum mana. 100 mana point equates to 1.10 power level. From then on, an increase in mana point by 10 increases the power level of a mage by 0.01. Your power level is 1.21 that means that you have a total of 210 Mana points!!!!"

Wasn't this just mana points? What's so special about having a lot of it! "Oh, Okay!" Whittaker said, unimpressed as he knew that the increase in his mana point was because of his mana devouring hair.

The headmaster and Dean Frankenstein were put off by his casual reply.

"Maybe you don't understand the importance of this matter. This has never happened in history before, you are the first one to break this universal rule!" Dean said.

"Boy, you have shattered one of the universal rules just by existing!!" The Headmaster exclaimed.

"Okay." Whittaker was sleepy, hence he really couldn't reply as anticipated by the eager oldies.

Because of his humble reply, Frankenstein finally understood why Headmaster has personally escorted this boy into the Academy. The young boy wasn't just a Frost mage, but also modest and unpretentious.

"Hurry up and finish his enrollment, he has to wake up early tomorrow." Headmaster reminded Frankenstein to complete the work at hand.

"Ah, yes!" Frankenstein said by walking away to a nearby clothing rack.

Whittaker thought, 'Why do I have to wake up early tomorrow?'

The headmaster shamelessly read his mind and said, "Classes for mage starts at 7clock. You will have to wake up early in the morning if you want to take classes. Attending a class is totally up to you. Though, skipping classes will leave a bad impression on your teachers, especially on the first day."

Whittaker glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. "It's already 12." He became a little impatient.

"Whittaker, this is your Student Identity card. This will identify you as a student at the Royal Frost Academy. Remember, you must never lose it as it costs a lot to make it. This card will grant you a lot of privileges and let you bypass some rules. Using this card, you can also purchase Magical potions that are sold in the Academy markets or by the merchants that are officially registered by the awakening Hall."

"Thank you, Dean." Whittaker took the Student Identity card and over cautiously stored it behind the third layers of his heavy clothes.

Right after, Frankenstein handed out a bunch of things to Whittaker. "While these are your things, provided for free by the Academy. You will live in the boy's dormitory room 7. It's the first building located on the Western Side of the Academy. Ah, you also have a roommate, his name is Shadow. Try to get along with him."

"Thank you once again." Taking the thing Dean Frankenstein handed, Whittaker after making his courtesies turned to leave the office.
