Chapter 946: After The Murder
Chapter 946: After The Murder
Everyone looked at each other and Lin Dongxue said, "Mr. Producer, don't touch the body. It will leave fingerprints."
"Get lost!" the producer roared fiercely.
Lin Dongxue calmly stared into his eyes and said, "I warn you in the name of a criminal police officer, please take your hands off the corpse."
Only then did the producer realize his impoliteness. "I'm sorry. I lost my cool... I just can't accept this fact."
Lin Dongxue asked someone to fetch something to cover the body. While waiting, Tao Yueyue raised her head and looked at the window of the conference room, which had been lit up. One of the windows was wide open. She felt a tension in her heart. Could it be a butterfly effect caused by her own mischief?
Lin Dongxue inspected the corpse and noticed something unusual. There was a large amount of dust on the back of the corpse. She looked up and asked the auntie, "Did you see him fall from upstairs with your own eyes?"
"Yeah, I saw it with my own eyes, and I was so scared that my heart’s still thumping right now!"
"After seeing the fall, you immediately looked down?"
"Correct!"
Little Ai undoubtedly died from the fall just then. His skull broke and his blood mixed with cerebrospinal fluid dripped to the ground.
Lin Dongxue said, "Yueyue, check the surveillance footage of the hotel and save the part before and after the fall. Do you have a USB flash drive?"
"No."
The director took out a USB flash drive. "I have one here. You can use it, but don't delete the contents inside randomly."
"Thank you."
Taking the USB flash drive, Tao Yueyue went to the hotel's monitoring room. When she passed the stairs, she saw the screenwriter standing there with a piece of cloth in his hand. His cheeks were red as he asked, "Yueyue, where are you going?"
"Sister Lin told me to go to the monitoring room."
"Oh, I'm sending this piece of cloth over... Haii, how could such a thing happen?"
When she got up the stairs, Tao Yueyue had a thought flash through her mind. It seemed that the screenwriter hadn’t come down the stairs, but he was just standing there. What was he doing there?
When she got to the hotel’s monitoring room, the two security guards didn’t know that something serious had happened outside. They were still playing poker with cigarettes in their mouths. Tao Yueyue asked to watch the surveillance footage, and they asked in turn, "Who are you?", "Call the police to come over themselves!", "You can’t just look at surveillance footage casually."
Tao Yueyue shouted impatiently, "Show me the surveillance footage! If you don't believe it, go out and see for yourselves."
The security guard no longer insisted, saying, "Let's see why is the little girl so fierce."
She had read books about electronic information collection and knew what to do in order to retrieve the footage taken. She found that there weren’t many security cameras in this hotel. The most important point was that there wasn’t one in the corridor. She asked, "Why are there only these few cameras?"
"There’s no other way. There are often celebrities living here, so they definitely don't want to be photographed. We only installed the minimum amount of security cameras required by public security."
"I will copy these away!"
"You’re not fooling me, right?"
Tao Yueyue decided to take out her police academy's meal card and showed it to him. The security guard said, "Well, it turns out to be a little police officer. Haha, how cute. You can copy it!"
When she returned, the body was no longer where it was, and there was no one in the hall. Lin Dongxue called and told her to go to a conference room on the first floor.
The corpse had temporarily been carried there, covered with a piece of cloth, and placed on the table. Lin Dongxue had already taken a photo with her mobile phone. If the body had been left outside in the rain, it would affect the autopsy results. All the crew staying there had been called over and upon receiving news of Little Ai’s death, there were mixed reactions.
Lin Dongxue looked around and asked, "Who saw Little Ai last?"
Everyone looked at each other, but no one answered. Lin Dongxue said, "When I ran out of the room, I saw the screenwriter, the director, and the crewmembers, but I didn't see Mr. Cai. Mr. Cai, what were you doing at the time?"
Cai Zhengkai shrugged. "I was out getting a drink... Wait, why are you asking these things? Didn't Little Ai commit suicide?"
"Little Ai wouldn't commit suicide!" The producer growled. "Who pushed Little Ai down? Stand up!"
This kind of question was naturally impossible for anyone to answer.
Tao Yueyue called Lin Dongxue outside and said, "I have something to tell you. Actually, when you took a bath, I snuck out."
"You snuck out? Where did you go?"
Tao Yueyue explained what she had done and what she had seen. Lin Dongxue was surprised. "Child, you actually went out to cause mischief. I can’t take my eyes off of you for even a second."
"I just think the producer was too annoying and I wanted to teach him a lesson... I'm so afraid that I caused Little Ai's death."
"If he was killed because of this incident, then the producer would be the most suspicious, but judging by his reaction... Ah, this kind of thing isn’t obvious just by looking at them. I will call people out for questioning individually."
"You’re not going to wait for the police to come?"
"Only civil police from the local police station who aren’t good at handling this kind of case are coming. Since the case has just happened, it’s better to question them immediately, lest some people go back to calm down and craft a story to deal with the police."
"Oh, let me go with you. I can take it as a learning experience."
Lin Dongxue smiled. "This is the first time I’m dealing with a murder case alone. It’s a pity that Old Chen isn’t here right now. Who should we call first?"
"I think the first thing to do is ask the producer!"
"Okay!"
Lin Dongxue returned to the house and said to everyone, "In order to figure out the cause of Little Ai's death, I need to take turns to talk with everyone."
"Are you a detective?" someone scoffed.
Lin Dongxue calmly responded, "This is just the normal procedure of criminal police officers. I hope you will all cooperate. I will not delay you for too long. You can go back to the house and rest after my questioning. Mr. Producer, I want to talk to you first."
The producer was immersed in grief and anger. When he suddenly heard Lin Dongxue calling him, he asked, "Are you doubting me?"
"I didn't say I doubted you. I just want to know what you did tonight."
"Tonight..." The producer glanced at Xia Xiaolou, who blushed and lowered her head. "Okay, let's go out and talk!"
Out in the corridor, the producer took out a cigar from his body, bit off one end, and lit it. Lin Dongxue asked, "When was the last time you saw the deceased?"
"When we had dinner in the evening. I went back to my room to rest after eating. I made a few phone calls in the middle of the night, but I never went out."
"May I check your phone? There should be call records on it, right?"
The producer hesitantly took out his mobile phone. Lin Dongxue reached for it, buthe retracted it with his eyes flickering. "Tell me first! Did Little Ai commit suicide or was he pushed downstairs?!"
"I can't judge that at this moment."
"Then I will judge for you! I heard Little Ai and Cai Zhengkai arguing in the corridor at around 9:00PM. Cai Zhengkai is absolutely a suspect!"
"Didn't you say that you’ve been in your room the whole time?"
"I…"
"Please tell me the truth. Who did you meet tonight and what did you do?"
The producer's nostrils fluttered and he muttered for a few seconds before saying, "Well, in order to assist you with the case, I will honestly tell you that there were some small conflicts between Little Ai and I, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Little Ai's death!"
