Chapter 128: Title
Naming a team is a common practice, even expected and there are lots of popular teams out there just as powerful as any Guilds. But Jael sighed. "I doubt that's what brought you here today, Thayer. Not the name we will or will not give our team."
Litha nodded along with him and glared at the golden boy. "You come here because you have something in your sight again and you think we can give it to you. Sorry but no."
Thayer sobered, his smile dimmed. "Litha, about last time...."
"Shove it," Litha interrupted, she looked him straight in the eyes. "It's all business and this is the Tower. I'm the one that should be thanking you that you stay with us to the end."
Thayer shifted uncomfortably, this was the first time he's seeing her thank someone like this before and apart from that, he helped only because they could repay him back. Because he was investing in their potential.
Immediately Litha was back to her briskly self. "So what's it? You can leave now that I've had my say, return to your Guild and get them ready for tomorrow."
He sighed. "Honestly I'm not here to make any deal or whatever. I'm just here to give you informative about tomorrow."
That caught their attention, Jael leaned forward. "What's it? Do you know what the test will be about and you're here to give us a strategic plan to use tomorrow?"
Thayer scowled, then smiled. "No, actually I'm here to tell you to do very well tomorrow."
Jael snorted and sat back on his seat. "Ya right, we've heard you now you can leave."
Litha narrowed her eyes on Thayer. "You crafty bastard, just spill it. You won't just come here to say that if you don't have a reason that'll benefit you."
"Ah! Ah! What do you take me for? This is totally just something I want to share. You shouldn't see me as a rich bastard who only help when he sees that it'll be beneficial to him." Thayer said.
Nobody replied to that, they let the silence give him the best reply and Thayer sighed. "Okay, maybe I am that a little but I always make it a win win situation."
On that no one can argue, because Thayer do make sure others benefit too. "Alright Thayer, what's up that you have to come from your place just to see us the night before the test." Jael finally said.
Thayer nodded, then looked at them seriously. "You should know that tomorrow will be very important. It's going to shape your way to the top."
"We already know that and that's why we prepared for it, Thayer, everyone knows how important the test tomorrow is and that it's the true beginning." Litha pointed out bluntly. "So why don't you tell us why you think it's important?"
"Because now it's different for before, now there's a Title involved. Original ones.!" Thayer said it in 'tada' way, probably expecting them to gasped and such but they only looked at him blankly.
Then Jael's eyes lit up. "Oh! I've heard something about this but I can't remember where. Something about it being unique and that this is the first time one is appearing so low in the Tower, usually it upper floor and so."
Litha turned to him. "Jael, what Title? You know about this?"
He shrugged. "No, I'm only saying what I heard in passing."
Temur shrugged as well, he's also heard about that but he couldn't be certain and that time it wasn't really a big deal but if Thayer is interested then it's a big deal.
Litha shook her head. "Let's start slow, Thayer. What's a Title?"
Thayer hummed. "It's a post or position given to Climbers. It's totally up to the Tower. How do I explain? Okay...have you guys heard about the Twelve Supreme Swords?"
Litha and Jael haven't but as a warrior who's working the martial way, then Temur have heard about them before. "They are known as the most powerful swordsmen in the Tower."
"Exactly! When the Tower feels like there's a gap among a certain group then it might create a Title and if that occurs then there'll be a competition like the Supreme Swordsmen where all the powerful swordsmen in the Tower gathered and fight until there's only Twelve of them remaining.
"Think of Title as acknowledgement from the Tower. Sometimes it's general or might be exclusive to a set. And it usually comes with some abilities or perks unique to that Title. Like my father now he's a Titled man."
Chapter Find:
"Wow, this is the first time I'm hearing about this. What's your father's title?" Jael asked in curiosity.
"It's, So You Are Rich? Well, I'm wealthy! The Title came up some years ago and the most richest gathered to bid on it. Only Eight people have that Title and it gives them the power to monopolize some things."
They all sat back but Jael was feeling some kind of tingling, it almost seems like the Tower is making things interesting for everyone. "Tell me more."
"Almost every class and professional have Title but some Title are still unclaimed. Like the warriors Sleeping Dragon, a five slot Title but yet none are able to claim a single one. I heard the requirements are too powerful and no warrior in Tower have reached that stage yet."
"So, Title is impressive." Litha said.
"Yes, it always comes with perks...and unwanted attention. But back to our own! A Title have been declared for our set by the Tower. So this test will also be about that Title."
"It's not common is it?" Temur asked. "What do you think triggers it?"
Thayer smiled. "What else? There's a gathering of interesting and powerful Awakeners in our set. It's going to be the most powerful set in a while yet. So I want you guys to claim slots in from the Title."
Jael smiled. "What's the name of the Title?"
"The Rising Star. The Ten Rising Star."
