Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

Chapter 316 Madman (Part 1)

''Did you find him?'' Nysora asked, throwing the corpse of the overgrown mutant cockroach, its charred shell glistening with remnants of the battle, into her dimensional storage.

''Of course, who do you think I am?'' Feline said, flipping her pink hair back smugly with her hand.

''What about you? Did he get the message?'' Nysora nodded in satisfaction and turned her gaze to the dark-haired Arora, seeking an update.

''I lost contact with my spirit owl a few seconds ago. Probably because it completed its mission,'' Arora replied, her eyes fixed on the owl perched silently on her shoulder, similar to the one she had sent to Raydon some time ago.

The skill she utilized allowed for only one-sided communication, preventing her from receiving a response from the other side. Nonetheless, her confidence remained high that the message had been successfully transmitted, as the spirit owls boasted exceptional survivability even in the harshest and most dangerous regions.

Therefore, the sudden loss of contact with the spirit owl could only mean one thing—the owl had fulfilled its purpose and self-destructed.

Arora continued, "In addition, there are no enemy teams in the area, so there is no need to worry about anyone disturbing us," as she shifted her gaze to the dozens of black crows that were flying through the sky.

Because the flower path they used to find Raydon and direct him was a skill that was extremely noticeable, they had to exercise extreme caution so that they would not attract the attention of enemy teams. As a result, Arora used her skills as an investigator to conduct a thorough search of the surrounding area in order to ensure that there were no enemies hiding in the shadows.

''Good, now all we have to do is wait,'' Nysora expressed her satisfaction with the team's efforts, a smile gracing her face.

Although they remained uncertain of Raydon's performance in dealing with the region boss, they had accomplished their mission—finding the boss and clearing out the surrounding mobs. They were also keeping a close eye on the area for any attempts by enemy teams to infiltrate while they confronted the region boss.

And at this point, all that was left to do was wait for Raydon to show up.

''I still think we're wasting our time,'' Verda said, eyeing the humanoid cockroach not far from her. ''I admit, his speed surprised me as well, but that doesn't mean we can take down a D-Rank region boss.''

''I'm not so sure about that,'' Mell said with a serious expression. ''I believe he is even stronger than we think.''

Mell, in contrast to the others, had been present during Raydon's demonstration of his technique, and as a result, she was convinced that he would be able to take down the boss using the same technique that he had shown off earlier.

''Mell, are you still determined not to tell us what you know about him?'' Nysora squinted her eyes.

Everyone had already realized that Mell possessed crucial information, but despite numerous inquiries, she remained tight-lipped.

''Like I said, I don't know much either. Besides, you'll probably see what I know with your own eyes when he arrives,'' Mell took a deep breath and replied. She yearned to share the incredible scene she had witnessed at the training ground, but Zephyr had forbidden her from divulging any details.

As Nysora and the others observed Mell's demeanor and cryptic words, their curiosity peaked, but before they could inquire further, Feline's voice cut through the air, startling them all.

''What in the world...''

''What happened?'' Nysora swiftly retrieved her long dagger from her dimensional storage and assumed a defensive posture as she questioned.

Following suit, the rest of the team positioned themselves defensively, assuming it was an enemy attack. However, it was Arora who broke the silence and offered an explanation.

''Calm down, it's not an enemy. But… '' Arora halted for a moment as she watched something rapidly approach from the pink flower road. It was leaving a trail of black flames in its wake, and Arora's gaze shifted to Feline with a questioning look on her face.

''He's the only one approaching here right now.'' Although Feline did not have a vision like Arora, she was able to sense that Raydon was the only one who was rapidly approaching them. In addition, her astonishment was not only caused by the speed that Raydon was displaying; she could also feel that her connection with her flowers was dissolving at a breakneck speed, which was an indication that something was destroying her flowers.

''What kind of skill is he using?'' Raydon's demonstrated power left Arora speechless in thought.

Elysia, who had been silent until now, finally succumbed to her curiosity and asked, ''What do you see?''

''Apparently, speed wasn't his only strength, as we had thought,'' Arora replied, her hand slightly trembling as she pointed towards the flower-lined road. ''It's best to witness it with your own eyes.''

With these words, Elysia turned her ocean-blue eyes, which were as emotionless as her face and voice, towards the horizon of the flowery path.

She soon became aware of the ominous sight of black flames climbing to the sky at the end of the flower-lined road. The flames surged forward, devouring the flowers in their path, reminiscent of a wildfire spreading rapidly through a forest. The intense heat that was being given off by the flames caused the air to become warped, thereby producing an atmosphere of impending doom.

''He's not going to attack us, is he?'' Elysia's pupils widened in surprise, a hint of fear creeping into her tone.

It seemed as though the dark flames were racing towards them like raging waves, with the intention of consuming them all in a matter of seconds.

Nysora didn't answer the question directly, but the doubt was evident in her response. ''Mell, Verda, get ready.''

Despite the fact that Mell did not think Raydon would attack them, she was unable to remain passive in the face of the danger that was drawing closer. She gave a slight nod and then reached into her dimensional storage to take out a shield. It was a small, square wooden shield with gold embroidery.
