Chapter 68: I WIll Fucking Kill You.
Kyle found it strange, but this conversation didn't go as planned—not by a long shot—but he couldn't complain.
He didn't understand how something so insignificant affected him. There was no reason for this to have such an effect on him, but Kyle was beginning to realize that he might have to revisit his past.
"There we go, all done," Kyle said, diverting attention from the current conversation.
The waiter came over for the bills to be paid but Jane took the check before Kyle could get it.
"What are you doing?" Kyle asked with a polite smile on his face but Jane was confused as to why he was asking such a question when it was clear.
"I'm paying for our meal," Jane said with a nervous chuckle and Kyle simply smiled.
He wasn't about to make her feel bad for something most women didn't do, if anything this was another reason as to why she was special.
"I took you for a treat and I'm the one being treated…" Kyle said but Jane flushed red. She took this as a compliment because she didn't know it would be such a big deal.
She got something for Ella and they were on their way, Kyle held her much smaller hands in his and they got a few stares from people around them.
Jane wanted the ground to swallow up and take her in but she loved the feeling of being seen with Kyle. It was like he was showing the whole world that she belonged to him but Kyle noticed something was off.
"Hmmm…" He thought to himself but he wasn't going to tell her about it and instead, allowed her to go into the hospital but he didn't go in.
Kyle noticed that someone was following them and knew it was up to him to nip it in the bud.
With a swift turn, he caught Mike staring right at him.
Mike tried to avert his gaze but to no avail, Kyle already spotted him.
Kyle kissed his teeth in irritation and walked towards him, Mike pretended like he was surprised to see him.
However, Kyle knew he couldn't get physical, he didn't have the physique nor experience to fight the more muscular man, he just knew that Mike had a few tricks under his belt but he also knew that Mike wouldn't want to cause a scene either.
now.
He knew it was time to set some firm boundaries because this was something that couldn't be allowed to go unchecked.
"Call me crazy but I think you're following me," Kyle got right to the point.
"That is crazy talk man, I just happen to be in the area. You don't own the hospital, you know?" Mike fired back. Slowly taking a cigarette out of his pocket as well as a lighter.
"You're right, I don't but I do own Jane and it seems you have eyes on her," Kyle's voice was stern, the playful tone he had earlier had all but vanished.
"Are you trying to insinuate something?" Mike responded; the atmosphere was becoming increasingly hostile.
"Oh? You misunderstand me, I know you have eyes on my woman but I know you can't get her. But hey, you can keep trying, a woman needs an orbiter or two to do the heavy lifting. What I want to know is why you're following me," Kyle responded smugly.
Mike gritted his teeth in anger, Kyle was far too arrogant for his liking and he was getting under his skin.
"You talk a lot, you know that right? You better have evidence before you accuse someone of following you," Mike denied it once again.
"Hahaha! Don't mind me but there is something I want you to know…" Kyle said while leaning in.
"If you keep this up, I will put a fucking bullet between your eyes," Kyle threatened him and he knew the art of bluffing as he often joked around with Jones but the tone he used here was dead serious, anyone would have believed him.
Mike was startled, stumbling a couple of meters back to get some distance away from Kyle.
He didn't know if Kyle was joking but judging from the look in his eyes, something told him he wasn't.
"I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding," Kyle quickly downplayed it but Mike wasn't sure it was a bluff.
"Y-You are a crazy man," Mike stuttered before regaining his composure.
"Now that's not very nice," Kyle responded with an over-the-top facial expression but he hoped that this would be enough to dissuade Mike from doing whatever it was he was doing.
He wanted to see how Ella's sister looked, there was something chaotic about that family that struck a resonance but if it was what Jane said, then it was only a matter of time before Ella relapsed.
Jane was no longer a strong enough anchor to keep her sober otherwise she would have never done what she did.
Kyle knew he couldn't let her know about this as he knew it would break her but this was why he was going to help Ella establish a new anchor.
The anchor wasn't going to be him, it was going to be her career, the career he was going to help her build with his influence.
Kyle knew he could make it happen, if he could get Calista on television then Ella would be a piece of cake but he had to hear her sing before he could conclude.
She had to be half-decent but something told him he wouldn't have to worry about her talent.
Kyle's life was taking place with a little bit of drama, he knew he had to be careful around other women including Cassandra.
However, there was one thing he knew for certain, he had to get the physique of a Greek god, just like Collins.
That man intimidated him and that was what was missing from Kyle's arsenal but the problem now was, where would he gym?
That would be later, right now he needed to be there for Jane.
