Chapter 38: Misunderstanding
Chapter 38: Misunderstanding
Ayaan gazed at the two guards standing at the entrance of the building before proceeding. The guards as well observed him. Although there was no vigilance on their faces. This was the capital Doham. No one would dare to do something funny at the business place of the royal family.
Anyways, Ayaan wasn't the only person who was here to do business. Time to time, people would exit and enter the place. No-one stopped them, it looks like the guards were there just for show. They did not check anyone.
Thereupon, Ayaan proceeded and entered the building. Both the guards gave him a side glance but didn't stop.
After entering the building a vast lawn greeted him. Although the place was huge, it was rather crowded. Many counters were placed in a row and the staffs at those counters were dealing with the customers.
Ayaan looked around and saw the helping counter. Without delay, he went towards it. There was a beautiful lady who was there to provide help.
When she saw Ayaan coming towards the counter she smiled towards him professionally. However, when she had a clear look at his face, the lady became stunned. She had never seen such a handsome man in her life.
The lady stared at him with a dumbstruck expression.
"Hello Miss," When she heard Ayaan's voice, only then she came back to her senses.
"Umm Yes sir, may I know what you want?" The lady assumed her previous attitude but she would steal a few glances from time to time.
"I want to meet your manager." Ayaan didn't waste his time on this counter lady and directly told his purpose for coming here.
The counter lady looked at Ayaan and hesitated for some time before speaking," Sir, our manager only meets someone if there is a big business deal..."
Afterwards, the lady looked at him apologetically and didn't speak any further.
As Ayaan heard the lady, he smiled and a football-sized silver metal appeared in his hand. Then, Ayaan looked at her and said, "Tell your manager that I want to sell this adamantine metal to her."
The counter lady blinked a few times and looked at the metal in his hand, which wasn't looking any different from the normal metal she had seen before.
"Sir Are you sure that this is the thing you want to sell?" the lady again turned towards Ayaan and asked in confusion.
Now, Ayaan started to feel annoyed by this lady. He had already told her, what he wanted to sell, but she was still asking stupid questions.
As the counter lady noticed the change in his expression, she hurriedly explained, "Sir, please don't take me wrong, but if I take you to the manager and you weren't able to provide something of a high standard. I would definitely lose my job for wasting her time."
Ayaan saw that the lady was genuinely feeling sorry, and nodded towards her, then said, "You don't need to worry about that. If your manager has eyes, he/she would be able to see the worth of my treasure."
Subsequently, the face of the lady turned red when she heard him. Was he saying that I don't have eyes? The lady thought and became even more embarrassed.
After hesitating for a few seconds, the lady nodded and went to the second floor. She didn't want to take any chance by sending anyone else. Therefore, she went herself asking for permission of the manager.
Finally, more than fifteen minutes later the lady arrived and gestured at Ayaan to follow her.
Eventually, Ayaan placed the metal inside his space ring and went to the second floor.
After arriving on the second floor he realised that the structure of the place was the same as the first floor. However, when he saw the items placed on every counter, he immediately realised the difference.
Nonetheless, he didn't pay much attention to these treasures. He had already seen much more valuable things in the other planes, and there were already many things inside his ring. If people knew the value of those items inside his ring. They would murder him in the broad daylight for his valuables.
After two minutes later, the lady arrived outside the room. Ayaan looked at the nameplate which was hanging at the door Manager.
There was no name written on the gate. Thereupon, the lady knocked at the door gently; so as not to annoy the manager.
Not even a few seconds passed, a gate was opened by a lady. She smiled at the counter lady and looked at the Ayaan curiously.
A surprised look appeared on her face when she saw how young he looked, and became a little confused. How could a boy like him have a treasure worthy enough to be assessed by the manager?
Nevertheless, the lady didn't dwell on that matter and invited both the people inside. If he was here to play a prank, then she really pities him. Everyone knew how strict the manager was. She won't let him go if he could not provide her with a valid reason.
After Ayaan entered the room, he saw an elegant view in front of him.
A glass table was placed at the centre of the room. One sofa was at every side of the table four seats. The whole room was decorated by the flowers, which made the room filled with a pleasant fragrance.
However, what attracted Ayaan's attention wasn't the room, but the lady sitting elegantly at the sofa, which was facing towards the entrance while observing him. The lady had red hair, red eyes and some resemblance with Noor. In beauty, she wasn't much behind her.
Someone closely related to the royal family, Ayaan thought and his heartbeat started to beat hurriedly. He didn't expect to meet someone from the royal family here.
The lady looked at the Ayaan and said, "Please, have a seat."
Ayaan felt a little distracted after hearing her voice, but he still nodded towards her before taking seat in front of her.
The red-haired lady was rather surprised. When she saw, how calm Ayaan was, even after seeing her. How could a young man like him remain calm after seeing a beauty like me, the lady thought and her curiosity piqued.
Afterwards, observing Ayaan for some time, the lady spoke, "I heard that you have a chunk of adamantine metal?"
"Yes," Ayaan replied.
The lady was a little surprised by his confidence, there was someone who could speak this confidently in front of her, interesting. A jubilant smile appeared on her face.
"So, can I have a look?" she asked with a smile.
Ayaan didn't find any problem in showing her. Anyways, he was here for business. He had to show his item before further negotiation.
Just like before he flicked his hand and a football-size adamantine metal appeared in his hand.
However, when the lady saw this, her eyes became wide, but then a furious expression appeared on her face.
"How dare you try to deceive me!?" she said in an enraged voice.
The counter lady who was standing behind Ayaan had a pale face. She knew that there won't be any job for her here. And teardrops started to form at the corner of her eyes.
"Heh? What do you mean I tried to deceive you? You didn't even check the metal and you are already accusing me of deceiving you." Ayaan looked at the lady in confusion and asked without showing any fear.
"Ha! Still trying to act innocent?" Lady sneered at him and continued, "Do you think finding adamantine is that simple? A small piece of the metal is enough to attract the metal element mages from thousands of miles. They would do anything to get their hands on a treasure like this. And most importantly, there never had this big piece of an adamantine. It is definitely a fake metal."
Ayaan looked at the lady speechless. What kind of logic was this? If there wasn't a chunk of the metal of this size previously, does this mean there won't be any in the future?
"You didn't even call your appraiser for checking it, but you are already accusing me of fraud. Do you even know how to do business, woman?" Ayaan was already at the breaking point of his patience. He came here for business but she was accusing him of a crime he didn't commit.
"Knock~ Knock~"
Just when a lady was about to attack Ayaan out of rage, a knock resounded at the door. Everyone stopped, and the manager felt embarrassed for losing control over her emotions.
Nonetheless, she calmed down and signalled her assistant to open the door.
An old man entered the room. He was looking more than seventy years old but his body was still filled with energy and vitality. Moreover, the man was a high-rank mage.
Afterwards, the old man observed everyone in the room. When his eyes passed Ayaan, a surprised expression appeared on his face. It wasn't because of his young look, but because the man couldn't see through his magic rank.
The red hair lady looked at the old man and said hurriedly, "Uncle Goldward, this fraud is trying to deceive me. I need your help in punishing him."
Uncle Goldward was the senior appraiser of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a very reputed and knowledgeable person.
Nevertheless, Uncle Goldward didn't act on impulse. He just nodded towards the lady, after hearing the complaint, and said, "Where is the item? Let me see."
