Chapter 43: Lionsteel
Chapter 43: Lionsteel
"Welcome everyone!"
As Ayaan was lost in his own world, a sound resounded in the auction hall. He turned towards the platform, and the familiar person was standing at the centre of the platform of the auction hall, Uncle Goldward.
Furthermore, the whole hall was already filled. There wasn't any unoccupied seat left in the hall.
Nevertheless, he didn't bother with the people sitting in the auction hall. He was more interested in knowing those big-shots in other special rooms. However, he didn't dare to use his soul power to probe these people.
Although his soul was powerful, it wasn't powerful enough to probe great mages stealthily. Furthermore, he could sense that the people inside the special rooms were as powerful as himself.
Previously, he thought he was already powerful enough to run wild in the capital, but now he was having second thought about his speculation. Anyways, he would be able to tell every information about these people with the help of a magic library. He just needed to see them once.
Therefore, he didn't bother to think much about them and focused on the current event.
"I think everyone knows the rules of the auction house, but would still like to repeat them. Basically, there are only three rules you need to remember.
First: the bidding would be in golds.
Second: Higher bidder would win the bidding.
Finally, third: Every trouble maker would be banned from entering the auction hall in the future, no matter who it is!" A clear voice of Uncle Goldward resounded in the auction hall.
After hearing the rules, no one said anything; Uncle Goldward proceeded and signalled towards the maids, who were standing behind the platform.
Slowly, one of the maids walked towards the platform while holding a tray in her hand. The silky white cloth covered the tray.
The lady wasn't bad looking either; she walked gracefully towards a vast wooden table which was placed at the centre of the stage.
After placing the tray on the table, the lady retreated and stood up at her previous place.
Subsequently, Uncle Goldward turned towards the audience and said in a loud voice, "I expect that everyone must have heard about the 'Fruit of Rain'."
Simultaneously, Uncle Goldward uncovered the tray and placed the white cloth which was cover it away, revealing the wooden box underneath. Then, he gently opened the box and showed the blue flower inside the box.
Immediately, the audience sitting in the hall became excited and excitedly started to talk with each other. One minute later, when everyone calmed down, Uncle Goldward again spoke, "Everyone knows the 'Fruit of Rain' is a treasure which could increase the compatibility of the junior mage with the water element.
I think I don't need to explain more about it because increasing the compatibility with the element isn't an easy thing and very few treasures have this property. Now, we will start the bidding; the starting price is 50 golds!"
"70 gold.'
As Uncle Goldward stopped speaking, someone amongst the crowd shouted loudly.
"100 gold."
Eventually, another voice came from the below.
The bidding continued for some time; strangely, no one from those special rooms participated in the bidding.
Although the 'Fruit of Rain' might be a big deal for these ordinary people, for people who were already at the level of a high mage or above, this fruit was useless. Moreover, this fruit was just an ordinary fruit; there were lots of treasures in this world with the property to increase the compatibility with the element.
Therefore, no one from the third floor bothered to bid for the fruit.
Finally, the bidding for the fruit ended; a person who was the first to bid for the fruit was the final winner.
After the fruit, there were many things of the same value auctioned, but only people sitting on the second floor participated.
If Ayaan couldn't sense those powerful auras sitting on the third floor, he would have doubted that there was no one in those rooms.
At this moment, another item appeared on the platform. Uncle Goldward looked towards the audience and took the parchment in his hand from the tray, and said with a severe expression, "Our next item is the spell!"
As everyone heard that, the spell was about to be auctioned, their eyes shined in anticipation.
It was because the spells weren't something you can get anywhere; if you can use a spell, then why would you sell it?
Nonetheless, if someone was ready to auction his spell, which could only mean one thing that he couldn't use the spell by himself.
Uncle Goldward saw the reactions of the people in the hall and nodded in satisfaction.
"This is the spirit grade spell, and the name of this spell is 'Phantom Escape'. It is a wind element movement spell. Furthermore, this spell could double the speed of the high mage." After explaining, Uncle Goldward turned towards the people present in the hall, and when he saw their restless expressions, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"The starting price for this spell is a thousand gold coins!" As Uncle Goldward's voice resounded in the hall, everything fell into deep silence.
After a few seconds of silence, a mocking voice started to appear from within the seated people.
"Are you kidding me! Who will bid for such an exorbitant price?"
"Have they gone mad?"
"I don't think anyone is going to bid for the spell."
"Yeah, I mean who is stupid enough to waste his money like this."
Every hundred bronze coins were coins, and every hundred silver were equal to the single gold. For an ordinary person, a single gold coin was an exorbitant sum of money, much less a thousand gold coins in their view, the auction house was just trying to extort them, or they didn't want to sell the spell.
"One thousand five hundred!" Just as everyone was mocking and insulting the auction house for being greedy, a voice resounded from the third floor, which made every flinch in shock.
"That voice came from room number two," someone from the audience said, attracting the gazes of everyone.
"Do you know who is in the number two room?" the man who was sitting beside the man asked, surrounding people as well turned towards the man making him nervous, but he still replied.
"I think the voice of the person who bided before belongs to the young master of the Lawson family." the man didn't dare to say loudly, so only a few people around him heard.
However, those who heard the reply, their faces immediately became pale; especially those people who said only stupid would bid for this spell.
Nevertheless, no one spoke after that, so as not to antagonise Daniel further.
Ayaan wasn't able to hear the talk of the people on the second floor. Therefore, he turned towards Emma and asked: "Who is bidding?"
"Sir, he is the young master of the Lawson family," Emma replied politely.
Ayaan heard the reply and immediately lost the interest, while an evil smirk played at the corner of lips and murmured, "Why would I even bother with someone who is already at the death door, hehe."
Rebecca was sitting beside him, rolled her eyes at him after hearing his murmuring. Emma, who was standing two meters behind him, wasn't able to listen to him or she might have scared out of her wits.
"Two thousand!" suddenly, another voice resounded in the auction hall from room number five. However, before Ayaan could ask her the identity of the person; Emma herself started to tell him.
"He is the wandering mage. His title is Lionsteel; however, no one knows his real name. He must be trying to get this spell for his disciple. Although his main element is metal, his supporting element is wind..." Emma explained everything she knew. After hearing her reply, Ayaan nodded and didn't speak any further.
"Two thousand five hundred!" an angry voice of Daniel resounded from his room.
"Three thousand!" a carefree voice again came from room number five in which Lionsteel was sitting.
"Old bastard, you want to offend the Lawson family!?" Daniel shouted towards the Lionstone's cabin.
"Mind your language boy! Even your ancestor Hayden Lawson won't talk to me like that!" a booming voice of the Lionsteel resounded in the auction hall making everyone shiver in shock.
Daniel, who had stood up from his sofa with a furious face, was smashed on his chest by an invisible force and fell on the couch on his back. Later, a fearful expression appeared on his face. Even his grandfather didn't have the ability like this. When he thought about this, a chill ran throughout his body.
"Young master, are you okay?" A servant who was standing behind him asked with a concerned look. He wasn't worried about Daniel but his own safety. If something had happened to Daniel, he wouldn't see the sun the next day.
"Hmph!" Daniel snorted with a furious expression but didn't reply to his servant. When the servant saw he was alright, he sighed in relief.
