Chapter 174: 174. Snake vs Dragon
But right before the fireball could land, a massive shield appeared in front of Lucius.
[Aegis]
BOOM!
The explosion was deafening, causing a sea of fire to erupt all around them, but behind the golden light, Lucius and his team were unfazed. But that didn't change anything for Ryan.
These bastards dared to attack his friends, and now he was furious.
[Shield Charge]
The gruff-looking man had a vicious look in his eyes, stunning red head encased in crimson bio-electricity, leaped down on him from above.
Berserk!
Reina let off a wild roar as her great axe cleaved through the air like a raging beast.
The beanpole-like man quickly reached for a second scroll, but before he could, his hand curled as he screamed in pain.
Stepping out from the shadows, Camellia's eyes glowed with an ominous purple light.
"There's no point in reaching for another scroll. Today is your death day."
Despite being injured, he was still furious. In all his years, this was the first time a brat had dared speak to him like this.
As all his men were fighting, Van had been looking around with his distinctive cold and poisonous eyes. But instead of planning an attack, he was looking for the right moment to escape!
The entire gang had been told to gather here now, and now there was an ambush. Van wouldn't believe it if there was no hidden conspiracy behind it.
Whoever these guys were, they must be confident enough to take them all down at the same time. Although he didn't believe he would lose to a bunch of youngsters, he wouldn't take the chance.
Who knew if there was another ambush just waiting to happen?
Van saw the aftermath of the attack blast a hole in the wall, and that's when his eyes lit up.
His body flickered, shuttling through the battlefield like an elusive serpent when his green eyes suddenly widened.
He didn't even have time to think and moved on instinct, drawing his poisonous sword and slashing behind him with all his might.
"Bang!"
The terrifying clang of metal shook the surroundings as a miniature shockwave emanated from the two blades.
Van stepped back in horror as he looked at the monster that was now standing in front of him.
Yes, monster could be the only accurate description of what was in front of him.
The handsome young man had faded away, instead, in its place stood a crazed creature.
Horns composed of crimson rage lightning flickered with an ominous light as draconic pupils that seemed to contain a boundless amount of hate and rage locked his body in place.
Van felt a complete and utter suppression at a biological level.
It was as if a small helpless snake had met a raging dragon. There was no comparison at all.
Stumbling back, Van quickly circulated his mana technique, and then, and only then, did he manage to break out of the horrifying aura.
But even so, Van's back was steeped in sweat.
He could sense it; the boy in front of him was a lower rank than him. At the very least, he wasn't a first-grade fighter, and yet his aura alone was nearly enough to bring him to his knees.
'Monster...'
"You... what sort of creature are you?"
Hearing this, Lucius only smiled, revealing his set of now all fang-like teeth.
"All you need to know is that I'm the one who's going to kill you."
Hearing this, Van coldly snorted. Although the aura around this monster was impressive, he still suppressed him in rank, and besides...
Van looked at his sword and smiled viciously. At the same time, the sword started to shake and screech as its greyish silver blade was dyed a complete emerald green. The faint phantom of a greenish-black viper could be seen swimming across it.
He wasn't afraid because he had a magic weapon. No matter how beast-like this monstrous young man in front of him was, it didn't matter. With magic weapons, it was humans who ruled this continent.
Seeing this sight, Lucius wasn't fazed and only smiled cruelly.
"Magic weapon? I can play that game as well."
As Lucius spoke, the purple gauntlets around his arm clinked as they roared to life with purple thunder.
Thunder and red electricity swam up his arms as Lucius was soon filled with an unprecedented level of strength.
Van obviously recognized the magic weapons of his previous masters, and his eyes shook in horror.
"You... how could you...?"
Lucius ignored his cries and held his sheathed sword, accumulating mana.
As mana rushed towards his sword sheath, it began to shake and tremble like it contained the force of an earthquake.
Suddenly, Lucius stepped forward, his figure wrapped in purple and red lightning appearing in front of Van in an instant as he coldly spoke.
"Bullet Sword."
Screech!
The sword roared as it tore apart the air, as the purple thunder of Lucius' gauntlets wrapped around the blade, making the attack look like a raging thunder dragon.
Van's whole body barely managed to react as he cried out in desperation,
"Viper's Fang!"
His sword quickly arced through the air, slamming down to meet with Lucius' blade, but the second the two attacks met, Van regretted it instantly.
His eyes widened as a terrifying force was felt through his blade and shook his entire body.
Under the titanic force, his arm twisted uncomfortably as he was sent flying into the wall under a horrifying barrage of purple and red lightning!
The entire room, filled with fighting, suddenly stilled as they took a second to recognize the horror of the strongest battlefield on the floor.
Before the gang members could mourn for their leader, a dusty and embarrassed figure clawed its way out of the rubble. Not caring for the disappointed looks on his gang members' faces, he fell out of the hole his own body had been used to create.
Lucius just snorted coldly. How could he let his prey escape from right under his own eyes?
