I Became A System

Chapter 63 - Weapon Aura

It was stupid of me to not realize that this old bastard is not real. Perhaps, he could be an incarnation of a Sin. However, this could be also mean that he might be a monster or variant for him to call this giant ape his Lady.

It could be only that way, however, if this giant ape is supposed to be a demon, then, it could also mean that this old bastard is a demon too. Since there's no way a monster can talk in human language with ease. It could be possible for demons only.

If he's not the real, where is the original? Does it mean that he's dead?

But it's not important. Ellena is mature enough to not cause it as a big deal. I can only think of her as pitying with this situation but not to the point that it can affect her personally.

But still… I want to curse myself for being ignorant. Although it's too late, this can still help us.

He already planned it, after all, that explains the dazed look of the other people in the tribe.

Sighs…

I have to focus on this situation first! The giant ape is oblivious to everything, but this old bastard acts as a representative of his eating master. Tsk! This could only mean that we have to fight him.

"Ellena, do you think that you can fight him?" I asked in a rushing manner.

Although I'm not sure of the capabilities of this old bastard, at least I can assess his ability in between A-rank and B-rank since this giant ape is S-rank. There's no way it could be higher if not for instances.

Please Lady Luck, help us!

'I'll talk to you with my mind first. I can't observe this traitor properly with him being wary of what I speak.' She said.

"Okay. But forget about him, it's obvious that he's not threatened of you. He's seeing you as a final dish."

'Tsk. So what do you think?' She asked.

I am still not sure, but we have to fight him. If not, we can just wait to die. But if I can assess his capabilities, I can think of a proper way to deal with him.

"This is just an impostor. Perhaps like the situation of Hubert. But somewhat different in some manner. However, alas, we can't be complacent since we don't know what he is." I started to spill the details.

'Okay… I'm hanging on it. What's more? Can we kill him to escape? I heard that he cast some barrier, if we can kill him, perhaps it would weaken the barrier, or best, destroy it.'

I see… so Ellena was thinking too. It helps me with the current situation. If only I could think of a way, we can't escape here unless there are some new variables.

"Try testing his abilities. If I can assess him, perhaps I can help you with the action. But, be careful, we don't know what he can do."

There's also a threat that this could be a parasitic monster then he'll have different abilities of some sort. We don't know.

'Okay. Try preparing with the blessing if I can't handle it. I want to kill this traitor right away.'

Even if we try to break the vest of others, it wouldn't give us insurance since they were easily affected by it. Their mental strength could be weaker than what I think.

They can't even help us with fighting since they can't handle Evergreen Monkeys themselves.

Ellena pulled out her sword then covered it with some lightning. As the old bastard noticed it, he shifted his attention to Ellena, with an eerie grin on his face.

"Oh… the final dish wants to get eaten first? What's the chance? Or perhaps you want to try your luck."

"I don't care what's your reason, but it's obvious you have to die." Ellena said in an irritated tone.

"Can I ask? Can you kill me?"

However, Ellena answered it immediately. "I may have my conscience late to appear, but since I gain it, I know who needs to be killed. And you're one of it!" She exclaims as she grasps her sword tightly before rushing towards the old bastard.

Ellena swung her sword from the bottom of her right, diagonally ascending it to the old bastard's chest. He immediately defended himself with the use of his blunt weapon. Then at the impact, a clashing sound of two metals echoed.

From the deafening first move, Ellena endlessly tried to find the weak point of the old bastard. However, this bastard is just too inconvenient to have some talents in close quarters.

Being impatient, Ellena activated her Pressure Aura. Since she improves her stamina from the daily training, her stamina usage declines appropriately.

But being still wise in stamina control, she just activated it to 50% at the most. Then followed with Arm Accustomization and Footwork Accustomization to improve her movements. However, it was useless since this old bastard specializes in close combat from the beginning.

Another deafening clash reverberated. As they continue to fight, Ellena moved steps backward when she saw some gleaming light appearing from the blunt weapon, shooting at her as if it was a bullet. However, it was not, it has the shape of the blunt weapon, simply looked like a duplicate of the image of light.

It was…

"Weapon Aura," Ellena mumbled as she also realized what the old bastard did.

So his ability is connected with auras. A conversion of mana and stamina in one mixture. But, I didn't saw his rune.

"Where is his rune?" I asked Ellena as she successfully dodged that attack.

Behind her, a scar on the wall appeared. A crater-like impact was seen on it.

"I think I know what is this being. He is a demon, but can't use his rune since he is not in his original body." Ellena uttered.

What?! But why did I not know that? I am supposed to be the brain here!

As I couldn't fathom why Ellena knows it, she explained it to me in a short manner when she gets to halt in the middle of the fight.

'Weapon Auras are emitted energy from mana and stamina. However, they are considered as close-combat ability since they need to collect some energy along with the fight.'

'But this traitor, can't use the Weapon Aura properly since a rune didn't activate. It means, he was using pure mana control, without the use of a rune. However, why did I think that he's a demon?'

'It's because he doesn't have a rune at his right hand. So I can just think that he has changed his appearance using some material or using a different body, restricting him to use his rune.'

'Since I've seen a demon before, the Goblin General, I can find resemblance in their aura.'

How come I haven't thought that deep?… Did I just underestimate Ellena again? Perhaps I should not be bothered by it since Ellena is smart enough to patch everything.

But, since I can't feel auras in the past, I haven't recalled its aura since I just realized that I can feel them just right now.

Hence, knowing that this is a demon situation gave an advantage to our side.. She should know what to do now.
