Chapter 39
Proof
After the meal, the old man excused himself and said he was tired. He went back to his room to rest.
Lian’e looked at her critically. “What degree do you have? What do you do for a living?”
Seeing that, Fu Xiao reached out to tug her arm, but she shook him off impatiently.
“Forensic pathologist.” Shen Yin did not have the same patience for others as she did for the Old Master. She only replied indifferently and stood up to leave.
She did not have any special relationship with Lian Jing. There was no reason for her to stay here and deal with his aunt’s questioning.
“I’ll drive you.” Lian Jing glanced at Lian’e expressionlessly and took the car keys from the butler before leaving.
“Shen Yin!” Lian Jing looked at the figure in front of him who was walking faster, as if she could not wait to leave. He suddenly felt powerless. “Is your heart made of steel?”
Shen Yin turned to look at him, an undercurrent in her eyes. “Lian Jing, we’re not compatible.”
It was the first time she had spoken directly about their relationship, but it was only a simple statement about incomparability.
Lian Jing walked up to her and gripped her arm tightly as he led her under the big tree in the courtyard. The moonlight was hazy. He could not see her face clearly, but he could hear her rapid heartbeat.
“I have a way to prove whether we are compatible. Do you dare to try it?” Lian Jing smiled evilly. She could feel his breath on her face.
Shen Yin turned her head to avoid the pressure emanating from him. The tips of her ears turned suspiciously red. Fortunately, it was pitch-black at that moment, so he could not see them. “How?”
Lian Jing saw that she had taken the bait, but he still maintained his patience. He guided her patiently, afraid that he would scare her away. “If we’re incompatible, I won’t pester you anymore. You just have to listen to me and we will easily find out the answer.”
“What do I have to do?” Shen Yin turned to look into his dark eyes. The eyes in his handsome face widened.
Lian Jing gently cupped her cheek and kissed her softly. She was stunned and he took the opportunity to force her mouth open. Their lips met, and a strange feeling spread from their abdomens.
“Lian Jing…” Shen Yin came back to her senses and pushed his chest with both hands, but Lian Jing pinned her down. His lips pressed harder against hers, as if punishing her.
“Yin Yin.” The two of them were entwined for a long time until Shen Yin could not breathe. Only then did Lian Jing let go of her. He placed his chin on her shoulder and said in a low and hoarse voice, “Actually, you don’t dislike me that much.”
He patted her back reassuringly and looked at her moist, pink lips. He swallowed and tried to restrain himself. Finally, he steeled himself and stepped back a little. He turned his head away. “I’ll let you off today.”
Shen Yin wiped her mouth with her hand. She could not fool herself anymore. She did not hate Lian Jing’s touch, but that did not mean she would accept him and be with him.
Ultimately, they were from different worlds.
She had once overestimated herself and pursued someone. In the end, she had been badly wounded. She really did not have anymore courage. If the ending was so uncertain, it would be better not to start. It would also be better for Shen Nian.
“I have to go.” Shen Yin stood up straight and forced herself to guard her heart. If she stayed here another second, his burning passion would devour her.
Lian Jing looked at her quietly for a long time. Finally, he sighed in compromise. Forget it. We’ve made a lot of progress tonight. Let’s take it slow.
He carefully opened the car door for her and leaned over to fasten her seat belt. Then he stopped pressing her and quietly drove her home.
In a bar in the New District, the man was staring at the photo in his hand with a cigarette in his mouth.
He dialed the number right at the top and smiled mockingly. “Famous mainland actress, Miss Yun Shan. Do you know who defeated you?”
Yun Shan was holding the arm of a director. When she heard him, she quickly excused herself and hid in the bathroom. She lowered her voice and asked, “You’ve found out?”
“Of course.” The man stubbed out the cigarette in his hand and carefully traced the eyebrows of the person in the photo. “I didn’t expect President Lian to fancy this type.”
“Don’t keep me in suspense. Tell me, who is it?” Yun Shan growled anxiously. Once she knew the woman’s true identity, she would definitely find a way to get rid of her.
The man narrowed his eyes and smiled. “Not so fast, Miss Yun. The money you promised…”
Taking a deep breath, she promised, “Not a penny less.”
“That’s good. I’ll send the message and photo to your phone.” The man hung up, and sniggered as he flicked his lighter and set fire to the photo.
A divorcée with a child. President Lian was really taking a big risk.
